(USS Illuminar — Deck 14, Brig — EO ENS/jg Dano Vermyx — 1347)

Dano sauntered into Security, exhibiting a bit more of his exaggerated
swagger than usual. Entering this section of the ship was something like
walking into the lion's den from an Iotian perspective. He carried a few
things with him, to give to Alex Dyson (if the Tin Badges approved).

The first was Alex's violin.
The second was cake — a traditional gift on Sigma Iotia II for someone held
"in stir." It did indeed have a file in it, but since security systems had
progressed significantly the 2260s, the small tool would be worthless in
effecting a successful jailbreak. Nowadays, among Iotians, the file had
become a symbol of sympathy.
The third was a small satchel containing a tin cup and a harmonica.

Using bravado and his own brand of Iotian doublebluffspeak, Vermyx managed
to reach the holding cell where Dyson was.

"M'I disturbin' anythin'?" he asked of his friend. Looking over his
shoulder, he added, "I could come back later if now's inconvenient."
