Mission:  For Honor

Day: 6

Stardate: 2446.04.30

(USS Illuminar - Deck 1- Bridge - a1/O CMDR Dieter Gregory,, Drs.
Gaillus Penn and Teller -0835)

Gregory tried to keep his mind calm, waiting patiently for the two
scientists to bring the data he needed.

He was listening to the reports coming over the com channels.  There
were a lot of confusing reports on the open channels, the tactical
channels and security channels.  As far as he could piece together,
there had been an assassination attempt on Chancellor Morek,
unsuccessful by all reports.  Additionally, there had been an explosion
in the council chambers.  He was concerned that he could not get through
to the landing party.

Gregory remembered something from his command training, ‘At the
beginning of a crisis, it was more critical to step back and assess
information. However, if action was required, a good plan violently
executed now is better than a perfect plan next week.

“Mr. Taylor, any information you can get, anything new?”

Taylor looked down at his panel accusatory, then looked up, “I’m ready
to blow this thing up, but that wouldn’t help me get any news.  Nothing
out, nothing in. It’s like there’s a blanket of comm traffic blocking
our transmissions.”

Turning to Operations, “Do what you can to punch a hole in that
traffic.  I know it’s too much to ask for transporter locks, but get me
our people,” he said.

The Saurian, Lieutenant Menzi, responded with a series of clicks,
“Working on it Sir.”

The turbolift door opened and out came the two scientists.

Gregory turned to see them and shook his head.  Eccentric to the core,
the bridge crew turned to stare at the two.  Dr. Penn, the benzite, was
dressed in a lab coat at least.  Dr. Teller, on the other hand, was
wearing a cowboy hat, a tattered robe open revealing a white T-shirt and
boxes.  Gregory was surprised they were not carrying any drinks with them.

“Back to work,” he said to the crew.  “Thank you doctors for coming.  We
have a bit of a situation on the planet and hope your results can shed
some light on things.”

“We’ll,” Penn said, shoving his hands into his lab coat’s pockets,
realizing he wasn’t wearing any pants, “it seems we have a hen in the
fox house, Commander. We found evidence linking the disengaging of the
fire suppression system to Ambassador Setan, and much more.”

He stepped forward and pulled a PADD from the pocket of his lab coat and
handed it to Gregory.

“Boris and Natasha, chasing the moose and squirrel,” Teller added.

Gregory sighed.  Weston and Leeza were right. Pel’s engineer was right.
He still didn’t believe it, how.  Why?  What would cause an Ambassador,
a Vulcan no less, to sabotage the Illuminar and the mission.

“You two are sure of this?” he said, before raising his hand, “Of course
you are sure.”

Gregory looked at tactical. “Mr. Taylor, get a security detail down to
Ambassador Setal’s quarters and secure the space.  No one in or out till
we can get a team to comb that room with a fine tooth comb.“

Taylor had already anticipated the order and sent the message, “Already
on it Commander.”

“Luma, I need you to make sure nothing happens to any computer records
in Ambassador Setal’s quarters, or private files.  We’ll get someone
from Engineering to dig it out, but if he was callous enough to turn off
the fire suppression systems, who knows what else he may have waiting
for us.”

Luma took a moment and did what the Gregory had suggested. She was
working on a better professional relationship with the Gregory. =^= Luma
can seal the quarters just as well as any small one.=^= Was Luma pouting?

“Luma, you can do it better and faster than anyone,” he said.  “And you
are more alert for nuances that we might miss.  We can’t lose any
information, any evidence.  I’m counting on you Luma,” he said.

“My good doctors, thank you again for your help.  If I can impose on you
again, to help us deal with the fallout of this betrayal.”

Penn nodded in what was almost a bow, “We are, as ever, at your
disposal, Commander.”

“Ethan Hunt and IMF,” he said with glee.

Penn pulled his other out of his pocket and slapped his partner on the
shoulder,  His coat inadvertently opened to reveal mush more of his
Benzite anatomy than he had intended.

“John Rambo, to Major Murdock, in Vietnam,” he replied.

“Uh, Doctor Penn, Ensign Hanes is reporting a hull breach on the lower
deck,” Gregory said.  “If you two could work with Luma and our Chief
Engineer to strip anything you can from the electronic records of the
Ambassador, I would be grateful.”

Penn smiled and turned to Teller, “Ethan Hunt, at Langley, with the NOC
list.”
