(USS Illuminar – Holodeck One – ACONNAlex Dyson and EO Dano Vermyx – 0845)

"So … Dyson! Dice-Man!Dicey-O!" Vermyx said, “Whatchahave in mind f'r t'day? More toaster-bustin'?"

“No,” Helet go of Kelly’s hand and worked his PADD. The image of a Class-M planetformed in the middle of the room, along with the image of Mackenzie Dyson.~Here we go.~ “I have children, Dano. At least three of them,” He paused. “Iwasn’t able to take care of them. So they’ve been living with their mothers.”

"Kids, huh? I don'thave any myself … 'least not that I knows about. Not f'r lack'a tryin', don'tget me wrong!" said Dano.

“This isMackenzie, she’s my oldest,” He gestured to the image of Mac. “She ran away toNew Romulus, where one of her half-siblings lives with her mother YennaValerius. Mac’s mother, K’Nera, gave up her parental rights. So Kelly and Ihave to go get her….” ~Time for the big pitch.~ “…and I want you to come withus. I need somebody I trust to watch our backs, Dano.”

Learning that the womanpresent was one of Alex's very children, Vermyx tipped his hat."'Pologies, Miss. Didn't mean to come across as crass, y'know. As f'r you,Alex, tap the brakes, wouldya? Traipsin' off inta Romulan space don't soundliek the kinda t'ing the brass hat would sign off on, know what I mean?"

“Thereare some hiccups you should know about,” Alex said. “Lieutenant Weston isprobably also coming. We’re going to need some kind bone to throw the brass.Being the boat spook, Weston is our best chance. And there is another problem.Mac’s grandfather, Rox, also wants to meet her. But you know how pricklyRommies get when they find Klingons on their turf. We need a way to get himthere. With people who don’t ask questions.”

"Hiccups are whatThe Kronk does best! Now I see why you wanted me along f'r th' ride! Now we'retalkin'! S'far as not askin' question, I know a guy who owes me a favor or two.Well, several guys, but that doesn't matter right now. Dis one in particular though— Findals Lagan's probably y'r best bet. He operates a 'conveyance service.'Y'follow?"

“Good, book ‘em, Dano.” Alex said with a nod. “I’ll get the coordinates for the meetto Rox.”

"Now, t'ing yougotta know about Findals. He doesn't ask questions, but he don't offer noluxury accommodations neither. If we're doin' this, it's gonna be a bumpyride."

"That's fine withme."

"I'll set up the ride. Anddon't worry about cost. Like I said, Findals kinda owes me."

"This is all nice anddandy," Kelly said. "But how do we get back out without the Rommieschasing us ? They might not take kindly to us taking Mac from their ball ofdust."

"That gets dicey,"Vermyx admitted. "S'far as I know, Findals don't got a cloak or nothin'like it. I can ask around. If Findals can get us in with a Jump-and-Dump, maybewe can still get out some other way."

"It'll take a couple of daysto get there. That should give us time to come up with a plan to leave."

"Like I said, I got people.I'll make some inquiries f'r ya. Pretty sure I can get us in and out,"Vermyx said. He paused for a short while, then added, "How above board youwant this to go? There are these slavers I sometimes deal with … um … dealtwith, I mean."

Alex pondered that for a second, then had an idea. "Find somebody who has frakked you over in the past, buthas a ship with a transporter. We'll take their ship and leave them behind onNew Romulus. By the time the Rommies are done throwing them in the slammer,we'll be halfway across the sector."

"Outright stealin' a spacetub ain't gonna sit well if Lewey Westion's along f'r the ride, tho."

"Good point...." Alexbit his lower lip as pondered this issue.

"S'why I asked 'bout theslavers inna first place. They have a ship with a cloaking device, last time Italked widd'em..."

"Outright stealin' a shipain't gonna sit well with Weston. But impounding a slave-ship?! That might workout better f'r us. Y'follow?"

"That's it !" Alexbegan. "If we can pitch this as a trap of particular slave ship, we mightbe able to sell it as a legit SFI mission." He paused. "We might evenbe able to use the Illuminar's captain yacht, which has a cloak."

"Okay, but then we won'tneed Findals f'r dis."

"True, but if the answer isno, we have Findals as Plan B."

"Ill still reach out to him,o'course. Thing is, though, either way we go... We prob'ly shouldn't let on tothe Lewey that we gots dis slaver angle. Premeditated commandeering ain'tlikely legal, y'know?"

"I'll send him somepaperwork to make it all seem on the up and up," Alex said. "But itwould help if I knew the name of the tub we'd be ambushing."

"If they ain't changed it,it's the Chalche'yon … some sorta hodge-podge, ramshackle, formerly Klingon raider.Ugly as sin, if I'm honest, but it gets the jobs done. Has a cloak, transporter, and a cargo bay big enough to retire in."

"I'll start the paperworkright...." Suddenly, Alex realized something. "Wait a minute, WE canuse the yacht. But Rox is a Klingon, remember ? That's how we ended up talkingabout Findal. So we need him to get Rox to New Romulus regardless."

"'Kay... How's this for ya?We take the yacht in, all skeleton-crew an' all. We mask Roxy's bio-signs sothe "V'tosh ka'tur" ain't any the wiser. Rox can seize the Ugly Chaland find his own way back to friendly skies, while we head home in theyacht."

"Right, it's not like UglyChal's crew can lodge a complaint with anybody." Kelly said. "Andeven if they did, they won't have any proof of Starfleet involvement."

"Which means we gotta dressdown for this. No pajamas. No pips. No combadges. Get me?"

"But it we wear civvies, they'll put two and two together and realize that we're dressed down Starfleet. We need a scapegoat, somebody we can blame..." A light went on in his head. "...like say, afleet that uses Battlestars, Vipers and Raptors."

"As much as I fancy thatidea, it'd take time we ain't got to even get the shipyard up an'runnin'."

"We don't need the fleet, weonly need the threads." Alex said. "Anyone who sees the footage, willpresume we're wearing real fleet uniforms. Not make believe ones. They'll wastea ton of time looking for a fleet that doesn't exist."

"Ok. I like it. It's crazy, but I like it. Roxy might not, but if I'm honest the easiest way to hide hisbio-sig is to hold him in transporter stasis anyways."

"One hiccup at a time. Let'sget the Lt'srubber stamp and the yacht first."

"Right, an' I'll touch basewith Findals Lagan, as our Plan B."

"Let's get to it,then."

"Fair enough. An' jus' knowthis... if it goes south, you get all'a my stuff."

Alex nodded and walked out of theholodeck. He and Dano had come up with quite the plan. Selling that plan toLieutenant Weston would be a great deal harder. So he would have to write thebest mission proposal he had ever written. ~This is so to be a LONG day.~
