(USS Illuminar, Deck 11 – Rec Room – ACONNAlexander Dyson – 0903)

Alex had worked the 2200-0600 shift for Conn today.And now he was three hours into his shift at the Rec Room. ~The sooner I getthose seven shift days clocked in, the better.~ One of the replicators wasacting up. A while Alex was no engineer, he had gotten some training at theFreighter School. ~Well, that and fifteen years of old-fashioned, learning-by-doing.~So he was checking it out before calling in the full-timers. Alas, before hecould, his own combadge beeped.

“On my way. Dyson out.”

He headed for the Chief of Ops’ office. ~I hope thisdoesn’t take long, I want to get that replicator back on-line before the end ofthe shift.~ Alex reached the office and rang the bell.

~Here we go.~ He walked into the room and stood toattention, despite being sure that he not done anything since the brawl thatwould land him in more trouble. “Ensign Alexander Dyson, Flight Control, reportingas ordered, sir.”
