Mission: An End and a Beginning
Day: 2
Stardate: 2446.03.17
(USS Illuminar - Simulators - Pilot Ensign (sg) Vic ‘Raid Montero - 0840)
=^= Knight flight, this is Knight Actual. Two bandits closing on the
Queen fast. =^=
“Copy Knight actual. Knight Two, push to cruising speed.”
As Monero said that, he accelerated his figher. He’d close the distance
in a few seconds.
“Mandy, status,” he said
[The two bandits are closing withing 100 kilometers of the Illuminar.
We will be on them in 2.3 seconds.]
Gregory nodded. At this speed, he’d need to slow dow once he overshot
them.
Sure enough, he had a visual on the two bandits. As he sped past them,
he lifted the nose of hte fighter upwards, executing a Cobra maneuver.
With his fighter now perpendicular to the direction of flight, the whole
body started to shake as he decelerated. Red lights started flashing.
[Warning. Hull stress at 90% max. 95% max]
Montero held the maneuver another second before dropping his nose down.
He was now behind the bandits. Gunsmoke had executed a lag roll, and
ended up back in formation with him.
=^= I have the shot =^= she called as he watched her plasma phasers fire
and destroy the third bandit.
The last bandit accelerated and started climbing. “Oh, no, not today,”
Montero said as he pulled his fighter into a climb. He fired randomly at
the ship, trying to keep the pilot off balance. The bandit kept weaving
out of his shots when Mandy spoke up.
[Aspect change on bandit. Suggesting he is trying a rolling scissors.]
“Thanks Mandy,” he said as he tried to match the bandit, but his ship
had more maneuverablity than the Sphynx, and Montero couldn’t get into
phase to take a shot. “Knight two, you got him?” he called.
=^= Rodger. Going to cross his T =^= she replied.
Montero knew what Gunsmoke had in mind, so he slowed his fighter a bit,
allowing the bandit to get behind him. “Launch countermeasures Mandy”
[Countermeasures away] the AI reported.
Montero started his own weaving, trying to prevent the bandit from a
lock on. Montero started into an Immelman Turn. As he started to climb
Mandy chimed in [fourth bandit destroyed]
“Way to go Knight-two,” he called. “Mandy anything on the scanners.”
[There appear to be four fast moving objects 300 km East of the
Illuminar. They are flying approximate 30 meters off the ground]
“Can you get a visual?
[Displaying now]
Now that looked more like he was used to. The cockpit was forward, with
what looked like two barrels off the front. THis was connected by some
superstructure to what looked like two nacelles, but they didn’t look
like federation style nacelles. They were moving pretty fast.
“Knight one to knight actual, four more bandits moving fast and low.
Permission to engage.”
=^= Knight actual to Knight one. Permission granted. =^=
“Tally ho knight two. “ Montero called as he vectored an intercept course.
