The collapse of Gregory was a sobering moment for the whole meeting.  This meeting had not turned out as he had hoped.  First Dieter’s arrival hijacked his agenda.  Then Mias’ arrival had shifted its focus.  He needed to get things back into perspective.


He looked at Quinna, who had asked for other solutions than running off with Leeza.  He knew that had probably hurt her, but they were talking about Leeza’s life.  He had to do whatever he could for his little sister.


“Well that was certainly a dramatic exit,” Weston said, trying to hide his concern for his friend. “Can we get back to the topic at hand?  Look, I don’t want to become a fugitive from the one group that still finds a use for me.  If someone has another option I’m more than willing to listen. And yes, Doctor, we have time, but not a great deal of it, I’m sure, once the Trill learn of Leeza’s existence.”


He paused for a moment and sat down looking at the Hammons, “Steve, Alaya, you are the two that I should apologize to.  I don’t believe that this is what you expected when you agreed to be Leeza’s parents.  This is a topic we need to discuss, in my opinion.  What I should or should not have told you three days ago is irrelevant.  What we do now is.”


He looked directly at Steve and Alaya, “Knowing what you know now, are you still even willing to be a stable parent base for Leeza.  I am willing to stay in the role for a while, of need.  At least until Dieter is better, then he may have his instances.  But I still believe that a stable, two-parent home base is best.  And remember, you just saw what that extended family may look like.”
