Mission:  Death in the Shadows
Day: 9
Stardate 2446.02.09

(Sigma Draconis VI - Controllers Room - Controller and Morgs - 1345)

The Controller stood, watching as the Federation representatives came
in, escorted by the Morgs. She watched as the one known as Sekal stood
there, arms at his side.  The others stood in a line next to him.

"I assume that you are the one who speaks for the controller.  We appear
to have been brought here at the Controller's summons. You will have to
forgive the damage to two of your cells, I did not wish to keep the
Controller waiting should that summons be considered urgent," Sekal said.

"The damage can be repaired.  Your eagerness is noted," she replied.
"There is clearly much for us to discuss.  I am the speaker for the
Controller."

"I am Captain Sekal of the USS Illuminar, to my left Security officer
Galk and to my right my chief tactical officer T'Mur and cadet Surkal.
It would be helpful to know why you made the Vulcans of my crew the
object of your invitation."

"Just under two hundred of your years ago, the Controller was dying.  We
had need of a new unit to ensure the Controller and our civilization
would continue.  At that time, with help of the teacher, my ancestor
secured what we needed.  That came from one such as yourself, a Vulcan.
That is why the Controller selected you. Why did you threaten us?"

Sekal stepped forward. "It is true I took an aggressive stance during
our communication. The beings who have been using and distributing
advanced destructive weaponry have caused unknown loss of life through
their intrigue and depredations. My own ship was attacked while
attempting to rescue a freighter crew and heavily damaged. We recovered
some of this weaponry as well as intelligence that brought us here."

The woman shook her head, "I do not know what you mean.  We are a
peaceful people.  We banished war thousands of years ago when the ice
took over our land.  We have no weapons, nor the desire for them," she
said. "It is true there are people from other planets on the surface of
our planet, but they do not bother us, but provide us with minerals that
we need to keep the Controller and our planet running.  All they have
asked is to be allowed to explore the surface.  They promised to make us
a trading power so that we would have what we need and not be forced to
abandon this place and try to make our way to the place of green and
warmth.  We would lose many of us on that trek."
