(USS Exeter - FO's Office - CSO Lieutenant Erin Cortez - 0924)


“I’ll cut to the chase. I’m not sure if you’re aware, we have a Fleet
Special Envoy on board with a team to study the radiation that the nebula
is producing.”


Erin nodded, "The ships grapevine is good. I had heard rumours."


He nodded. “As Chief Science Officer, I want you to work with Commander
Bracken…”


The name made Erin sit up straight. Surprised was not the word, "Excuse me,
Sir, did you say Commander Bracken?"


“Yeah surprised me too to be honest. But you are to offer her and her team
every assistance. You’re to liaise with her and make sure that she has
whatever lab space she needs. Fleet Medical and the Surgeon General are all
over this, so let's show them what the Exeter is capable of. Thoughts?”




~oh I have thoughts.~ Taking a second to compose herself and making a
mental note to have words with Ailynn later about the fact she had not told
her friend that she was coming back, she looked at Commander Jones, "My
team will afford her all the assistance she needs. It may provide them with
some much needed stimulation. It's been a bit.. what's the word… pedestrian
the last few days."

"There is something I would like to bring up on a personal note, Sir."

"I've been thinking a lot this past month about something. Whilst I love my
position and my team, I want to look into the possibility of working with
another department to further my career. Something like field medical
training. During one of the last missions, I.. had to assist Commander
Bracken with some field surgery and it really made me think about doing
something similar. Not on every mission and I know my main duty is to my
department but it's just another feather to my bow…" Erin paused,  smiled
and continued, ".. sorry, Sir. I'm waffling."
