Mission: Space was cool before it mattered
Day: 2

Stardate: 2446.04.26

(USS Exeter - Personal Quarters - Captain Trip Williams - 0206

“Trip,” She said “Our dreams, and indeed nightmares, are simply a
collection of ‘old data’ that your sleeping brain is trying to make sense
of and file away in your longer term memory the important things, and help
discard the stuff you don’t need. It’s a little more complex with Empaths
as you appreciate, you get associated feelings too, which makes dreams and
indeed nightmares that more visceral.”

"yeah, but....if this is old data, it is certainly corrupted data. I mean,
could it mean anything?" Trip asked.

“In and themselves, dreams don’t mean anything, our problem is that while
REM sleep, is a very deep sleep phase all too often we wake up from this as
it’s the highest point of brain activity.”

"Oh, so you admit I do have brain activity. I'll remember this the next
time we fight and you call me a dumb dumb.:" He said with a chuckle.

“Hey, be nice.” She smiled at him, “Behavioural Psychologist remember?”

"Oh, how could I forget Mrs Fancy Shmancy Smarty pants." Trip said using
humor to help get his mind back to normalish.

"It was just so damn surreal, and it felt so real. I was positive at one
point the murderer was Ravok...no, I think...guilt. Survivors guilt."

(reply Ash)

"I don't know how captain's deal with this, the crushing guilt. I remember
all their names, Ash, everyone who died under my command. Even Ronnie 1.0.
But this is the first time I've dreamt about them in this capacity. I even
remember the first casualty. Petrova. She didn't die, but she was never the
same. She was grounded due to the brain damage she endured. The first, but
not the last. I put on a brave face. But....man, this dream was a gut
punch. I'm usually not this....afflicted by my emotions."
