Mission: Space was cool before it mattered
Day: 1
Stardate: 2446.04.25
(USS Exeter - Medical Sciences Lab - ACMO, Ensign Dural Methor DrPH - 1412)
“Only in part, now I stop to think about it.” There was a pause where Dural
was confident Ailynn was lost in thought before answering his offer. “I’d
like that,” She said simply. “
"If we both find the time I will see to it." Dural said, "I take it you
like being back where the action is though."
“It’s good to be back, I’m not keen on HQ, too many people trying to tell
me how important they are, when I ask them what it is they actually do, and
what have they contributed to the Fleet this week they always just blush
and look at me weird. Place is full of incompetents.” Ailynn said.
"Secrets are safe with me, always were." Dural assured her, most people
possessing any wherewithal would not say such a thing in mixed company, it
means she trusts him. "I could however regale you on tales of incompetence
in the Cardassian Guard. People have the tendency to fail upwards."
(Reply Ailynn)
"Oh, this Gil, a pilot can't navigate his way out of a familiar star
cluster, but he comes from a prominent family, let's promote him to Glinn
and put him in charge of a department, surely then the weight of his
responsibilities will focus him into a fine diamond?" Dural said his work
pace quickened as his annoyance bubbled to the surface, breaking through
his normally cool and friendly exterior.. "The cycle repeats ad nauseum
until well they pat themselves and each other on the backs saying how the
sons and daughters of Cardassia continue the fine tradition of military
service."
(Reply Ailynn)
"You're right, Ailynn of course." Dural said, slipping back towards his
normal jovial self. "What you saw at headquarters, I have already seen the
results of generations of such things on Cardassia Prime."
(Reply Ailynn)
"Hopefully. With people like you at HQ, if you can get through to one
Admiral's aide, one Ensign on the terrifying errand of dropping off a
report on some beurocrat's desk what Starfleet can be."
(Reply Ailynn)
"Something to think about, Champion a cause even for a brief time." Dural
said, "If you'll excuse me, I'll compile that report and it will be to you
shortly. It is good to have you back."
(Reply Ailynn)

"There will always be those who mean to do us harm. To stop them, we risk
awakening the same evil within ourselves. Our first instinct is to seek
revenge when those we love are taken from us, but that's not who we are." -
Captain James T. Kirk
