(USSExeter –Broken Bow – CFO – Lieutenant – Ire Williams -04:55)

“When we get to the Exeter, can you back this thing into spot three?,just thinking it would be easier to get through the hatch and away, before theycome looking.”

Ire nodded.

“I can do that. We won’t have a lot of time. We are going to have tomove fast.”

Ire watched as the Exeter appeared in front of them.

“Call the Exeter and tell them that we have a casualty along with heavydamage and need priority clearance for landing in shuttle bay one.”

As Sleeford contacted the Exeter he began to manoeuvre the damaged BrockenBow towards the shuttle bay. 

“There is no pretend we really are flying on a wing and a prayer.”

He muttered to himself as his eyes flicked from the console to the outsideview.

 

“Here goes nothing.”

He pulled into a tight turn as he lined up for final approach andwatched as red warning lights began to appear across the console. He muttered acurse and glanced over at Sleeford.

“This landing might have slightly less finesse then usual.”

As the Brocken Bow passed through the shuttle bay force field the manoeuvringthrusters failed. The ships gravity reached out and grabbed the runabout hardas it was slammed onto the deck. It bounced and began to spin sending sparks acrossthe deck in its wake. It came to a bone jarring halt as it smashed into the farwall. Ire rolled with the impact as the Brocken Bow came to a stop.

“Another successful landing.”

A smiled danced across his face at the personal joke as he turned toSleeford.

“Get the deck hatch open while I power every thing down. We would notwant us to survive the landing just to blow up.”
