As they reached the bottom of their climb, Greta assumed point. Being the
security officer, it perhaps came naturally for her. As they moved forward
Greta looked back toward her and scanned ahead, Greta glanced back, "all
clear."

“Well done lieutenant.” Ailynn said gently. “Now, we’re at the entrance to
the ducts. Its a few decks down, and some of it goes down enough to maim or
indeed kill if we slip, so go easy. I’d rather take twice as long, and risk
capture than rush and have even more people lost or hurt.”

The trip down had been uneventful, if taxing. Ladder after ladder. The ship
was quiet, almost serene, but Ailynn knew that that hid a hotbed of
disquiet. Eventually, the reached an exit back to the corridor.

“OKay, so Greta, this is going to take timing, they will have locked down
sickbay, but if we can get into the ante rooms next to the entrance we may
be able to slip through. I really wish this wasn’t necessary.”

Ailynn nodded and sighed. “‘G’, my brother is many things, his bedside
manner needs work, and his tendency to be overly gruff does get peoples
hackles up. However, what you heard earlier, although true, the Gabe I
know, and love as a half-brother, would never in my wildest dreams do what
he did. It goes against his every vow as a Doctor. Beyond that, he would
never dare incur my wrath in the manner he has, he would never upset Ronnie
the way I know that he has, and when Trip gets hold of him...well. Enough
said. Billy too, I’ve known him a long time, and he is simply not capable
of this. No...something is badly wrong, and I just know that some answers
are in Gabe’s mind.”

(Reply Greta)

“At the moment I’ll settle for ripping it out of his skull with my bare
hands, but a scan and possible biopsy will suffice.” Ailynn half joked as
the exited the hatch into the corridor. “Entrance to sickbay is just down
here.” The two Officers walked carefully down the corridor, pausing at each
bend or corner. Suddenly, Ailynn grabbed Greta and pulled her into a small
alcove.

“We have company, Sickbay is just round this corner and a patrol is coming
this way. I need options.”

(Reply Greta)

“Greta, I can’t ask you to do this,” Ailynn’s heart fell as she spoke. She
knew she was losing control of the situation, but the only way ahead
was...well, ahead.
