(Runabout Muskogee - CTO/2O Lieutenant Commander Ravok - 0413)





"Sir, I haven't told you about my talk with Ashlyn Williams. I was working
on my report, but I was called to the shuttle bay before I could finish it.
Quella has the captain and Ashlyn knows."

Ravok leaned forward and looked at Ensign Jori " What do you know?"


"I don't know the details, I don't know where he's being held, and I don't
know why she took him, but Ashlyn was there when it happened. In fact, she
slugged Quella before they disappeared.

The fact Ashlyn just didn't come out and say this, led me to believe Quella
threatened her into silence. Perhaps saying she would never return the
captain. I can only speculate on that."

Jori held off a yawn. Ravok could see that she, like everyone else, looked
beyond exhausted.

"Ashlyn used veiled hints and coded questions to tell me this. When it was
time for me to leave, we locked gazes, telling each other we understood."

Jori began to look uncomfortable.

" Whatever it is, just say it." He urged her.

"Sir, if Quella did demand no one knows she has Captain Williams, I hope
I'm not putting him in danger by telling you."

" If you're right and that's the situation. Technically Ash didn't tell you
anything. You read between the lines. You arrived at a possibility using
skill and intuition, but your concerns are nonetheless very valid and as
your direct superior your concerns matter and will be taken seriously 100
percent of the time. " He paused momentarily.

Jori was onto something her train of thought made complete sense, although
based on very little evidence, He knew Ash well enough to know that if
something was wrong and she knew how to help in any way that she could she
would do it in one way or another. Ash was not the type to sit back and let
things happen around her. She may be the captain's wife , but many have
jokingly said

 ' The Captain is Ashlyn Williams' husband' implying that he not she was
the privileged one of the pair.

" Keep this information to yourself. When we return to the Exeter we will
share this information with Captain Bracken and no one else. If your
assumption is correct we could be doing more harm than good, but she needs
to know."

Ravok glanced at the chronometer on his wrist. Seeing that they would
arrive at their target in a few moments.  He stood up and opened one of the
pouches on his tactical vest.

" Here take one of these." He said tossing it to her. It was something
called a power bar.

" At first the taste leaves much to be desired , but after a while they
start to taste somewhat edible and they act as a good energy stimulant. "
Ravok explained. Not knowing much about the dietary habits of Deltans.
