When everyone was dismissed from the dining room; it felt more like a mission briefing than a casual dinner, Jori lingered until the others went outside or were paired off in conversation. Following Ashlyn Williams into the kitchen, she had one more gift to give.

"Hello, Mrs. Will... um, Ashlyn. I don't mean to intrude, but I have something for you," said Jori.

Jori reached into her bag, bringing out a head band similar to the one had.

"It's a misheka, made from Deltan silk. It translates to motherhood circle. I got you a blue one since you're having a boy."

Jori spread it across her fingers.

"The four symbols represent the basic stages of being a mother. The current one goes over the forehead.

"The first is when you're pregnant. This one to the right is after the baby is born. The one in the back is when they marry. This one to the left is when they have a child of their own.

"You have one for each child. Traditionally, they're worn at special gatherings and events, like family dinners, birthdays, and anniversaries.'

Jori smiled, a warm glow filling her insides she never expected.
