Mission: A new day dawns
Day: 2
Stardate: 2446.01.29

(Earth- Home of Trip and Ashlyn Williams- CO, Captain Trip Williams, FO,
Commander Ailynn Bracken, aFO, Commander Alex Jones, SOPS/3O, Lt. Commander
Tyrek Na’Rel, CFO, Lt. Ire Williams, OPS, Ensign JG, Matthew Fuller, aCTO,

Victoria Corsica, Dir. R&SE, Ashlyn “The Real Boss” Williams - 1925)

Ash walked into the room, her heart soaring with joy. She loved occasions
like this, with family and friends around, filling the room with happiness
and the home with love. She squeezed between chairs and wall, giving
Ailynn’s chair a small push to make room as she walked past, and found
herself opposite Tyrek, who was still standing. Remembering Trips quick
briefing as they’d got changed earlier, she shifted her thoughts and put
herself into his shoes, and certain lessons about Romulan formalities came
back to her mind. “Commander, please,” She gestured to the chair that he
was standing behind. “Please, sit down. This isn’t an Admiral’s dinner, in
family occasions such as this we don’t stand on ceremony.”

Tyrek felt slightly out of place by his display of decorum, but the calm
demeanour of the captain's wife made him feel at ease.
" Thank you Mrs. Williams."

She shook her head gently and smiled warmly. “Just Ashlyn, or Ash is fine.”

" Noted Ashlyn." Tyrek replied as he pulled out the chair and sat down.

Looking at the assembled, Erin nodded cordially towards the two obviously
newest members of their crew. As Tyrek seemed to be in conversation with
Ash, Erin smiled warmingly at Commander Jones, "Nice to see you again,
Commander. No coffee around right now is there? Just want to make sure mine
doesn't get Lost again. "

Alex looked over at Lieutenant Cortez and laughed gently. "No coffee Erin,"
he held up his drink. "And the day I spill beer on someone is the day that
the devil goes to work on a snow plough." He smiled amiably.

Trip looked up at the assembled crew. “Well I feel bad that y’all are
sitting down, because dinner ain't quite ready yet. Probably another hour.
I got delayed in getting the smoker going due to circumstances outside my
control.” Trip said, giving a soft smile to Jori. “I know ringin the dinner
bell probably made y’all think it was ready, but it was the easiest way to
let y’all know it would be a bit.”

Erin sighed internally, ~no food? Never mind. Should be interesting to see
what comes next~

Ailynn butted in, with a cheeky smile, “Speed it up Williams, hungry
pregnant Bracken girl at the table.” She winked at Ashlyn, who giggled
gently.

“You’re impossible Lynn.”Ashlyn replied.

“There are coolers in the different rooms with beers and cokes. For those
of you who aren’t quite sure on certain cultural things, even centuries
after its inventions, down in Texas, coke is the generic term for soft
drinks. Some things persist over time. There are some snacks around there
too. But don’t fill up too much on snacks. Also, tonight no ranks. I mean
don’t act like idiots, I’m still your boss, but lets not stand on ceremony
tonight. Let’s enjoy ourselves a bit. For those of you who enjoy yourselves
too much, there are three guest rooms in the main house, and another three
in the guest house out back. Just in case.” Trip said smiling at his senior
staff.

~Hence the orange juice.~ Erin thought to herself. She had no plans on
embarrassing herself.

Even being half-Human, it would probably take something like scotch from
the Captain’s private reserve to impair Kiera and her Romulan liver. The
fact Trip made the guest rooms available, showed he cared about the
wellbeing of his crew.

“Anyways,” Trip continued, “after the hell we’ve been through, there are
some new faces at the table and some old ones. Some who are going to be
with us for just a short time, some who are taking some time to rest. Hell,
some of y’all have been on the Exeter less than a month and have already
gone to another galaxy. So why don’t we just take some time and just give a
brief introduction to the new faces, a refresher for the old. We’ll do it
based on time served on the Exeter. Just a hello, and something unique
about yourself. I’ll go last though, because I’m the boss. I guess Ash goes
first, since she came aboard the moment I took the job.”

Ashlyn smiled and stood up. “Ash Williams, Captain’s better half and USS
Exeter basketball smuggling champion 2445.” She motioned to her abdomen
with a whimsical smile. “As to something unique;” She was thoughtful for a
moment, “only 18 months ago, I had no-one. No friends, no family, no-one.
It was only by sheer chance, that when the Mars base reopened that I
reconnected with Ailynn and Trip, and I discovered love, both familial, and
personal.”

Ailynn smiled gently as she stood up “Ailynn Bracken, you all know me.” She
shrugged shyly. “Some of you may know that I’m taking a sabbatical, and
won’t be returning as your First Officer for your next mission, instead,
I’ll be handing over to Alex who will be introducing himself shortly. Alex,
if I may be bold, welcome to the Exeter, I have no doubt that you will find
her as welcoming, and feel at home as I have.”

Further down the table Alex smiled and tilted his beer in acceptance of the
welcome.

“Keira Merek, Second Officer and Chief Engineer,” the blonde began, “I hail
from what used to be an independent colony world called Carraya IV that
rumor has it was a former Star Empire penal colony. Now it is either
petitioning for or presently being voted on acceptance into the Romulan
Republic. I enjoy making things without a replicator, and fixing things,”
Then added, “but don’t think that gives you carte blanche to break things
on the ship.”

Tyrek gently tapped the fingers of his left hand on the table as he
listened to Commander Merek finish the description of herself. ~ Brief for
a Merek, must be her Terran half.~

“I am Lieutenant Ire Williams.” Ire said when it was his turn.

He looked over at Trip and smiled.

“No connection, just coincidence. I am the Chief Flight Officer. I was
squadron leader of the Void Hunters of the 1st Fighter Wing before I joined
Exeter.”

Trip let out a half hearted smile. He loved his time with the 1st Fighter
Wing. Hell he, Ravok, and Ire, along with Petrova, helped to build the damn
thing. Of the first four squadron leaders of the initial relaunch of the
1st Fighter Wing, only he and Ire had made it through without any major
incident. Petrova almost died returning from their first mission, and last
he had heard was a flight instructor at Starfleet Academy. The recovery
from her wounds having taken longer than anticipated, it was not likely she
would return to shipboard duty any time soon. Then there was Ravok. That
one would always sting.

Looking around, Erin took a breath and spoke, "Lieutenant Erin Cortez.
Chief Science Officer. Born in Santiago and have been on the Exeter for a
while."

She stood as it was time to introduce herself to the group. Most of the
gathered she had met and had at least a passing knowledge of. Her tail
waved softly behind her, as it slid through the back of her chair. "Hello
everyone, I am Victoria Corsica, I was the Chief Counselor but now I have
been moved to the Chief Diplomatic Officer. I hope everyone continues to be
of assistance and patient with me as I learn this new role." Corsica smiled
as she returned to her seat figuring with the number of people gathered it
would be better to keep things short and sweet. Allowing the next person to
introduce themselves.

Jack smiled, still standing and taking note of where everyone was seated.
“Jack Roberts, counselor. Former Marine, thought I was gonna go be some big
action hero. Explosion led to severe injuries, severe injuries led to a lot
of time cooped up in bed recovering, which led to reading, which led to
fascination with the way the mind works, which led to an appreciation of
those involved with mental health, which led to a career change. From
Enlisted Jarhead to Ships counselor. From Sniper to blue shirt.”
"It's funny the path life takes us on. When we think about the infinite
numbers of choices skk to bring us all to this table." Ash said gently.

Heinrich stood up, looking around the room. He gave himself a moment to
collect his thoughts before he spoke. “I am Lieutenant Heinrich Kruze,
Chief Medical Officer.” He stopped, letting all of that sink in. “I was
born on Colony Alpha 5 and had my own practice there before I joined
Starfleet. That’s why I’m a little older than a lot of you youngins. As far
as what’s interesting about me…” He trailed off, not quite knowing what to
say. Everyone on the Exeter is extraordinary and interesting. Otherwise
they would not have been assigned to the Exeter. It’s hard to be
interesting among the interesting. “Well, you all may not know this –
though I’m sure it’s in my record – but I was a star shortstop back in the
day. In school of course. Baseball is a big deal on Colony Alpha 5. Usually
the fighting was in the stands, though, not on the diamond.” He said in
jest. He sat back down.

Tyrek smiled at the Doctor's reference to the brawl on the baseball field.

Matthew stood nervously and looked around as he spoke. “Ensign Matthew
Fuller, Operations, relatively new to the Exeter. Hail from Australia.
Looking forward to getting to know and work with you all a bit more”. He
raised his glass as a way of acknowledging everyone and then quickly sat
down before his legs gave out.
"Fellow countryman. Greetings mate." Akex said pleasantly.
Tyrek looked across the table to Ensign Fuller and nodded his head in a
reassuring manner.

Jori had chuckled at Doctor Kruze's joke about baseball fights. When it was
her turn, she didn't really know what to say. Even recent arrivals knew who
the Deltan girl was and the effects she had on some of the crew. She
decided to be brief and to the point.
"I'm Ensign Jori, acting chief of tactical."

~ Chief Tactical officer? Well if we arm her with baseballs our enemies are
doomed.~ Tyrek thought tonhimself playfully.

Alex stood up, and drew a breath, thoughtful. “Alex Jones, Commander. As
the good Commander has totally blown my cover,” he teased gently, “I’m
going to be your acting First Officer for the duration of the next mission.
For something unique about myself, not much to say, You may have guessed
from the accent that I’m from the part of Earth known as Australia, and
when I was a young and stupid cadet me and a couple of mates pinched the
mascot from a nearby university football team. Got in quite a bit of bother
over that one.” He sat down, with a slight blush.

“Are we talking football as in soccer, football as in the old American
Football, or Football as in Australian rules football.” Trip said trying to
be witty. He hoped it was American Football. His ancestral roots were to
the former American State of Texas, in which American Football was
essentially the unofficial state religion.

Alex laughed pleasantly. "Sorry Captain. Old habit. It would be the
American variety. I seem to recall that us rugby boys were trying to make a
point, I forget what it was now." He chuckled to himself, smiling at a
couple of memories that came back to mind.

Tyrek nodded his head to Commander Jones then stood and straightened his
sash.
" Lieutenant Commander Tyrek Na'Rel, former Sub-Commander from the 4th
Republic fleet. I arrived here on Sol III on stardate 2445.12.16. During my
time here I've learned many things, ranging from the tedious to the
extreme. I've learned your Lcars interface systems. I've taken a liking to
Shrimp Alfredo, Terran music, Terran wine, but the most impressive thing I
learned today was that baseball can be a blood sport." Tyrek said with a
slight laugh. " I beg the collective forgiveness of each of you. I'm no
good at this. " He looked down , then back up and around to all of them.
"This entire experience thus far has been an intense and immersive dive
into the culture of the Federation. My desire is that in good time I come
to learn something from each one of you and perhaps earn your friendship
and trust." Tyrek nodded his head then looked to Commander Merek.
" A vote has passed in the senate, Commander Merek, the matter is in the
hands of the acceptance committee." He remarked and sat down in his chair.

Keira nodded at the last bit, "Thanks for the news, and a reminder that I
should talk to my parents more."

Trip smiled, “Well there ya go. I mean y’all know who I am, Your humble
captain, Trip Williams. Well James Andrew Williams the third. Trip, is much
better. Granted my dad started calling my Trip because of NX-01 Chief
Engineer Trip Tucker, so there ya go. That being said, now you all know a
little bit more about your coworkers on the senior staff. Alright, well I’m
gonna check on the stuff in the smoker, could be anywhere from 30 to 45
minutes at this point. Again, sorry for the delay. Like I said, make
yourself at home, help yourselves to chips, spinach and artichoke dip, the
salsa, and the queso. Careful though the salsa is pretty damn spicy. Hang
out, turn on some music if you want. If you see my dog, no matter how sad
she looks, please don’t feed her.” Smiling, Trip then looked at Ailynn.
“Ailys,” He said, somehow having picked up the way that Ronnie used to call
Ailynn, “Care to help me out with the smoker.”

Looking round to Trip, Ailynn nodded and sipped her drink, then stood up
and followed Trip out of the room. "Sure, excuse me everyone." She said
amiably.

Trip then looked at his guest, “Alright then, be back as soon as I can.”
