(USS Exeter, Astrometrics Lab, Science Officer Ensign sg Xava Denlorr, 2019)

"Ensign Denlorr, yes. I was told of your arrival. CSO Lieutenant Cortez."

Xava straightened her posture, clasping her hands behind her upon seeing this was her immediate superior.

"Ma'am," said Xava.

"Have you had much chance to look around the ship?" said Cortez.

"No, ma'am. Just some of the science department."

"Okay. Would you like a tour of the department?"

"At your pleasure, ma'am," said Xava.

"Do you mind if i ask, what is your speciality?"

"I was one of four youth from my world chosen to serve in Starfleet, ma'am. In my age group, I have the highest IQ measured. All science is my specialty, though astro-physics interests me most."

To a Human, Xava knew she might be coming across as bragging, but in Shagra society, she was simply speaking her qualifications, interests, and achievements.

"I'm here to serve, ma'am," said Xava.
