(USS Exeter, Astrometrics Lab, Science Officer Ensign sg Xava Denlorr, 2022)

"I prefer the term work with, but I take that. You should fit in well here, Ensign," said Cortez.

Xava knew she would. She was Shagra, chosen from billions to represent her people.

"As you probably know, this is our astrometrics lab. State of the art and, to be honest, a lifesaver recently."

"I look forward to serving in these facilities," said Xava, She was curious about how the lab was recently a livesaver, but it wasn't her place to ask. If her superior wanted Xava to know, she would say.

"I am quite open to people's projects and where they want to work most of the time, but it is always prudent for you to know your way around and where to find people if you need them, don’t you agree?"

"Proper and efficient use of personnel, time, and resources, of course, ma'am" said Xava.

"Have you ever been on the bridge of the Exeter?" said Cortez.

"I have not," said Xava.

"Then you are in for a treat, Ensign. Shall we?"

Xava stepped into the corridor and waited for Lieutenant Cortez. She was looking forward to seeing the actual Exeter bridge; she had trained on a holo version and memorized ship specs, but there was nothing like the real thing. It was almost like enduring the real tok-tae ritual after training on a simulation. Almost.

Xava knew the Exeter crew was on leave time, and she knew there was value in resting to insure one remained at their best, but she had been serving on Earth long enough. It was time to get into space so she could experience the real tasks done by Starfleet.

Xava was young and eager, so she needed to learn to be more patient. After all, these people weren't Shagra.
