(USS Exeter - Turbolift - aCTO Ensign sg Jori - 0947)

Roberts continued to apologize for what happened in the Starlight.  Jori appreciated that he was trying to be a gentleman, but she needed to make him understand what actually happened.

"Jack, please let me explain," said Jori.  "I don't know if you're familiar with the ways of my people.  Regarding relationships, we're very open and passionate.  There are aspects about us that non-Deltans aren't able to endure."

Jori knew how she was sounding, but this needed to be said.

"When we choose to serve in Starfleet, in order to not take advantage of sexually immature species, we take an oath of celibacy."

If she wasn't sounding condescending before, it surely appeared that way now.  However, it was the truth and Jack had to know.

"It's been a long time since I was with someone, so when we were together that night, I let myself fall into the moment.  When I realized what was going to happen, I had to stop.  It wasn't you, Jack.  I was the one that made the mistake."

Jori waited for Jack to respond, but the turbolift stopped and the door opened.

"This is my stop."  Jori hurried out, but she held the side of the door so it wouldn't close.  "Thanks for the chat."

During a moment of awkward silence, Jack talked about seeing his family and trying to get in some camping.

You ever eaten a smore before?"

Jori smiled.  "I have.  I love camping.  My friends and I camped as much as we could when we had breaks in our classes."  She shrugged.  "Maybe we could get a group together before the Exeter launches."

Emphasis on group.
