(USS Exeter - Astrometrics Lab - Science Officer Ensign JG Henry Parker  - 2010)

“First of all,” Lieutenant Cortez said, “I am sorry for calling you all here on leave. I have a few things that I wanted to say to you face to face rather than over comms.”

Henry sat down in a chair and laid his feet on top of the table. He listened to his superior’s speech. About how tough things were. How she is an open door. How some colleagues have left. And how proud and honored she feels. As he listened he thought ~Oh great, another meeting that could have been on comms.~ He had no appreciation for a personal touch.

“Thank you everybody. I am always here for you guys. Dismissed.”

“That’s it?” He asked loudly and obnoxiously.

“Well, then it’s an honor and a privilege to have you as a senior officer. And it’s an honor and a privilege to be serving on the Exeter.” He was being sincere, but he had a way of speaking that would make anyone doubt his sincerity.

“Too many people have been moping around lately. Weak.” He mused aloud. “This is Starfleet! If you’re not up for adventure you can leave with Michaels! That's what I say! I can’t wait to get back to the stars.”
