Mission: A new day dawns
Day: 1
Stardate: 2446.01.28

(Earth - Ketchikan, Alaska - 2O/CEO, Lt. Cmdr. Keira Merek - 1600)

Keira and Venus beamed down to the landing pad on Ravok's land. After
speaking with Trip Keira returned to her quarters to replicate and pack.
She saw a pair of alerts come across her desk, one was a message from the
Starfleet Corps of Engineers, indicating that on stardate 2446.01.30 Vice
Admiral Frolless jav Pros was going to pay a visit. Since everything was
going ahead of schedule, Keira paid it no more mind than forwarding a copy
of the notice to Trip to ensure he was aware of it. The second alert was
from Starfleet Judge Advocate General indicating that Keira was named in a
legal document. She was named Trustee for all of Ravok's Earth property,
until his daughter Rayna became of age to inherit. That letter prompted her
to change plans slightly and check on the property and if it was still in
working order, take out her "snake head" shuttle for a test spin, maybe
even to Iceland.

She looked down at the black labrador that was Venus and checked to make
sure that she was okay. They were both wearing cold weather gear, as the
temperature was well below freezing. Venus tramped off to smell some new
scent Keira went straight for the patio door. Even though it was an Earth
dwelling, Ravok had set it up as traditionally Romulan as he could. The
front door was non-functioning and was there merely for decoration. The
only non-destructive way in was the side patio door. She made her way to
the patio door, seeing that no one had been by to shovel snow or otherwise
upkeep the place. As soon as she input the code and the door unlocked she
heard the whine of transporters behind her and Venus began to growl.

"Commander Merek, Halt. Turn around." came a stern female voice absent of
emotion.

"Which is it? Halt or turn around?" Keira said with a smile holding her
hands up.

"Turn around."

Keira did as commanded and was greeted by three starfleet personnel in
issued cold weather gear. The two on the flanks pointed phasers at her. "To
what or whom do I owe the pleasure?"

The one in the center was at least a tenth of a meter shorter than Keira
but by her posture alone seemed to, if not ooze authority, at least it
seemed like she knew what she was doing. She removed her hood and face
scarf, revealing dark hair, piercing eyes and pointed ears. "I'm Vice
Admiral T'Larah Sullivan, you are wanted for questioning regarding a
Starfleet Deserter Ravok Shara..."

"Draw the short straw, did you, sir? I expected Security, maybe Intel...
not Internal Affairs.." Keira said, keeping her tone neutral. "Fine, I'm
cooperating, I didn't do anything wrong." Venus was still growling softly.

"Do you mind? I know the comfort an animal companion can bring, however we
will stun her if she attacks." the Admiral indicated the animal.

Keira let out a short shrill whistle letting Venus know it was OK. She
stopped growling and sat down, but kept her eyes on the situation.

"Didn't do anything wrong? We had JAG send you the notification of Ravok's
will, hoping you'd respond and you did." T'Larah explained.

"I fought him, almost killed him. How does that make me an accomplice or
culpable in any way?" Keira asked.

"This questioning may take hours, can we adjourn to inside the building?"
the Admiral asked, avoiding Keira's question.

"Don't like the cold?" Then Keira's eyes squinted a little. ~She doesn't
have a warrant.~ "You can't scan inside, can you?"

"No. Not at present." Sullivan admitted.

"...and I have the legal right to let you in..." Keira finished.

"Correct." T'Larah said.

"Well then, I'd better lead the way." Keira said. "Can I move without your
thugs shooting me?"

"Hey!" One of them said.

"I'm sure you're nice people, but you are pointing a weapon at me
currently." Keira responded, her hands had been up this whole time.

"Lower your weapons," T'Larah ordered to the pair of security. " and one of
our agents will lead the way."

"Good plan, sir. One caveat, I haven't seen Ravok since the night before he
left in the yacht. Since he *did *name me trustee of Rayna's inheritance,
he might actually care if I get hurt, but I can tell you beyond the shadow
of a doubt that he doesn't give two shakes of a rat's tail about your boys
here, or you."

"Fair point." T'Larah admitted. "You may lead the way. No sudden movements,
clear?"

"Crystal." Keira said and opened the patio door.
