(USS Exeter – Personal  quarters - SPC Ensign Rylee Page - 1401)

 Walking into her quarters, Rylee stood for a moment. Everything that had
happened had left a mark on her. Not a physical mark but in her mind.

She had been released from sickbay but ordered to rest. They had told her
that there was likely to be some after effects from the surgery but they
were hopeful she would be back on duty soon.

Exhausted, even from the walk back from sickbay, she sat down on the small
sofa in her shared quarters. Her room mate was on shift so she was glad to
be alone.

Smiling to herself, she saw the small plate of food that had been left with
a note stating that she needed to eat and rest. Reaching for a sandwich,
she felt her hand tremble as she grasped the bread.

Putting her free hand on the other, the trembling stopped. Fighting down
the urge to just go to bed, she lifted the sandwich to her mouth and
realised that it was slipping from her fingers.

Try as she might, she couldn't stop it falling and, as it hit the floor,
she closed her eyes.

~No… not gonna let it… not going to let this bother me~ she thought to
herself as she lay back on her sofa and closed her eyes.

After a second, she realized that she had lied to herself. It was affecting
her. She wiped a tear from her eyes and resolved to not let anyone know.
