(USS Exeter – Personal Quartets – CFO – Lieutenant – Ire Williams -04:36)
He was not able to sleep, he had slipped out of thebed room and walked quietly into their living quarters leaving Greta to sleep. He had about an hour before he had the conn shift and had a couple of things that he needed towork out before he took control of the Exeter again. After everything that hadhappened the day before, he was glad that they had gotten through it mostly unscathed. He thought about Ryelle for a moment before moving on. He grabbed a cup of teaand sat down on the sofa.
~Time and place Ire. Time and place~
He spoke softly glancing at the doorway into the bedroom so that he would not wake Greta.
“Computer using sensor date from the Runabout BrockenBow as well as any date that was retrieved from Ensign Page`s suit please show fromthree minutes before the pods hit the runabout”
He watched as the figure of Page exited the BrockenBow`s airlock.
“Spin forward.”
He watched as the time index moved quickly, then suddenlythe pods moved.
“Hold go back ten seconds and then play.”
He watched again.
“Pause, in large the image of the pods thrusters.”
He watched as they fired, the pods lurch forward andslammed into the Runabout. Ire closed his eye and in his mind’s eye he couldsee it all unfold again. His fingers move across an imaginary console as thethrusters fired as he tried to bring the Brocken Bow under control. He opened hiseyes again.
“Computer run analysis of Ensign Rylee`s injured comparedto the maneuvers of the Brocken Bow. Is there a way that her injures could havebeen reduced?”
[Running analysis……Affirmative]
~Ow crap~
“Please show me how.”
He watched as a simulation and then ran it a couple ofmore times comparing it to what he had done at the time.
“Computer if I had followed this new set of maneuverswhat injures would have been avoided.”
[Cerebral Hematoma reduced to Concussion]
He sat there stunned
~Only a concussion dam. By the Prophets what did I do~
“Computer what would have been the damage to theBrocken Bow if I followed those maneuvers.”
[Major hull breach along starboard side causing damageto structural integrity and loss of internal pressure in all starboard sidecompartments]
“So I nearly kill Rylee with my maneuvers or saveRylee but sentence me, Billy and Janey to suffocate to death inside.
~Bloody Hell~
It was like the bridge officer’s exam with the scenarioof killing one crewmember to save the ship. He had really hated that one andhoped that he would never have to choose between the life of a friend and the safetyof the ship.
A soft chime sounded from the bedroom indicating thathe needed to get up and get ready for his shift. He shut down the terminal andheaded for the shower.
~There is no point second guessing yourself. You didwhat you could with the information that you had at the time. It does not makeit right or easy, but Rylee is alive. So, you need to stop kicking yourselfabout what happened and learn from your mistakes and make sure it does nothappen again~
