(Gamma Quadrant Planet, Temple grounds – FO Lt(sg) Ailynn Bracken – 1151)
Ailynn watched the Temple guard, stood impassive either end of the temple.
Jost was still not back in the room, shifting in frustration, the impending
sense of rescue gave her a new edge, one that re-woke her, and pulled her
out of her own reverie.
There was an unmistakable change in the sounds of the room. Instantly,
Ailynn knew what had happened, she stepped toward the forcefield, and
plucking a hair from her head, held it out, waiting for it to burn like the
last one had.
It didn’t, she was free.
Stepping forward she felt the exhilarating rush of excitement. She reached
back into her pocket and pulled out the tricorder, switching it back over
to the technical setting. She could see the same structures present as
where there before, and also that there was still residual stored power in
place.
~Okay Ailynn. Just think bioengineering.~ was her first thought.
~Yeah...Those extra units that critically overstretched and and caused…~
Was her second.
Thinking of the machine as a body once more helped. She could see the
pathways where power flowed, and at the heart, the chroniton generator, and
she could see that indeed she had been correct, Jost hadn’t checked the
translation, and there was a simple flaw in the machine. A valve had been
added where she could see no reason for its existence. Quickly she dashed
over, and moved to the back of the machine, the acrid smell from the fresh
welds. Reaching her arm into the depths of the machine, she turned the
valve. This would shut off the chronitons stopping them from making it to
the emitter. There was an attached wire, which the tricorder suggested was
a sensor, Ailynn pulled off this wire, and attached it to another circuit,
so that it would would erroneously show the valve as open.
Lastly, she routed all of the remaining stored power from the emitter to
the chroniton generator. She hid the moved cable as best she could.
Moving swiftly back to the circle for the forcefield, she held a finger up
over her lips. “Ssh! When a girls gotta go am I right?”
