"All is as planned, Mr. Taldek"

Taldek nodded as he overlooked the Civilian areas. ~This is going to be a
true pleasure.~

He turned to his associate, hand picked from the Romulan Imperial Academy,
for his stupidity. He was stupid, no doubts, but he was also cunning. Just
cunning enough, in fact, to get caught and yet be considered as the true
Romulan operative sent to accomplish the Empire's goals. Taldek had plans
for this fresh officer, and they involved being captured by Starfleet
Security, at some later time.

Not that his associate knew of his plans, that would have been foolish. He
had no idea he was just cannon fodder, and that sat just fine on Taldek's
mind. The needs of the Empire came first, after all. There were times that
sacrifice or blood were needed to pave the way.

Ravalan, his associate, handed him a small data crystal and said "Your
order has been placed sir. It should arrive in three to five months. If you
would care to wait, I am sure arrangements can be made."

Taldek nodded and took the cube. ~Three to six months, plenty of time to
prepare and dig in. Plenty of time to establish lines of information and
set up false trails for Starfleet Intelligence to follow.~

He grunted as he placed the cube inside his civilian clothing. "Thank you,
I do believe I shall wait, this is a most important shipment for me." He
nodded, and walked away from the promenade to the civilian quarters of the
station.

Taldek was a very senior member of the Tal Shiar, and had been for many
years. It would be easy to hide on the station under an assumed name for
honest business for as long as necessary. Being deep cover was almost fun,
he had been in the Federation so many years, that is 'paper trail' was very
legit, and his true origins so hidden that he could never be traced as a
Romulan operative without hundreds of thousands of man-hours worth of
searching, and a bucket load of intuition and lots of luck. Even his birth
certificate on Romulus had been erased, so complete was his cover. He
didn't exist on paper as anything but his Cover, that of a Vulcan merchant.

He kept his face immobile as he entered his quarters, and locked the door
behind him.

(Starbase Geneva, Rec Lounge, SPC Louise Palmer, 14.32)

Kia laughed slightly, "Well I wouldn't go so far as to say *the* place, but
it is certainly the place where some more original things originate from.
There are all sorts of tools and things that I sold originally, but then,
people would take them home, and develop their own style, now I also have
their artefacts that some of them have made in my store. So there is quite
a lot of variety!" She said with a smile.

Louise smiled. "Then it sounds perfect!"

(Starbase Geneva, Tresors du Tresin, SPC Louise Palmer, 14.55)

"Well.." Kia sighed slightly, "I just was explaining that this store does
not deal with currency in a form, it's more of a place to trade things. I
never was a fan of monetary value. Ensign Letch, who created this piece of
work would like to have four extra holodeck hours from it." Kia stated.

"I see!" Louise exclaimed. She thought a moment, then smiled. "I actually
have quite a backlog of holodeck hours built up - you see, my husband's
been ill and has only today returned to active duty. So four holodeck hours
will be no problem. How do we work this? Do I assign them to you and then
you assign them to Ensign Letch? Or do I contact her direct?"

(reply Kia)

Louise nodded. "That sounds fine. Could you arrange to have it delivered it
for me? To...." she pulled out a small padd from her bag and looked up
their new *address*. "To here?"

She showed Kia the number and deck of the temporary quarters that had been
assigned to her and Aragorn.

"By about 17:30? I'd like to make sure it's there when Ar- uh... my husband
gets home."

(reply Kia)

"Good. And thank you, I'm sure I'll be a regular customer here! You have
such lovely things!"

(reply Kia, if you wish)

(Starbase Geneva, Primary Trade Deck, SPC Louise Palmer, 15.15)

Louise left the odd little shop with a smile on her face.

~Fancy finding Tikar sticks here!~

The shopkeeper had given her an odd look when she asked to buy them, but
beyond muttering that his "other customer" might be unhappy not to find any
more, he had done nothing but charge what Louise privately considered to be
an inordinate amount for such a small number. However, she reasoned,
Aragorn had not tasted them in months, and he would be so pleased to have them.

~I know! I'll drop them into his office!~

Smiling, she hurried off, knowing that it wouldn't be long before the men
came to shift their stuff to their new quarters.

(Starbase Geneva, Captain's Ready Room, SPC Louise Palmer, 15.25)

Louise sighed. One of the people outside on the Bridge had told her that
Aragorn was in a meeting with his senior staff.

~Just my luck!~

Then an idea came to her. She could still surprise him!

She slipped the bag with the Tikar sticks into a drawer and wrote him a note.

"Look in the drawer for a nice surprise! Love, L."

As she put the note on his desk, she spotted one of his books. She looked
at it curiously.

"It's alright to have emotions"

~I wonder why he wants to read that again?~ she thought, then dismissed it
from her mind and left to collect Jenny and Meh'Nor from childcare before
going home.

(Starbase Geneva - Conference Room - Lt(jg) Walker Isengard - 15:30)

"Seeing that Starfleet has decided not to inform us, I think we can safely
assume that anybody who is mentioning the Nimitz to anyone of you must be
up to something. So I would suggest that if somebody contacts you, other
that the people in this room, you smile at them and use your commbadge to
contact mister Isengard. The message should be that the proposed meeting
cannot take place yet and that it will be reconvened at a later date. That
will then warn the Security staff of a possible incursion. Do you think we
should act immediately and interrogate the person who asked the question,
Lieutenant Isengard?"

Walker looked around the room, then nodded his assent.

He sat back and listened to general plans for keeping the Nimitz crew in one
piece. After a few minutes, Aragorn said "That basically concludes what we
can do for the Nimitz at the moment. But we have other worries too. Possible
Romulan incursions for one. Just remember that the RSE had about 5 months
to draw their plans and that means
they can have done a lot. However, no reason for us to make life easy for
them. Mr. Isengard, double watch for all security personnel. Also make sure
that our defenses are ready for the moment that we would need them. I doubt
that two mark 10 phasers will be a serious threat to anybody, but you never
know."

"Aye, Sir."

(reply any)

(Starbase Geneva - Ready Room - Commander Richard Ian Lee - 15:55)

"Ok, Mr. Lee,"

Lee pulled out the PADD he had been given by the Fleet Admiral, for the
Captain.

"Ok, so where's the fire?" he asked the Commander." And why is it so
hush-hush?"

~Now, we see if he believes me on the first go...~

"At the moment, the Nimitz is a dangerous subject, Sir."

Lee paused, as he watched the CO's eyes narrow. "Ahh, I see.Oh please excuse
me, I just remembered something."

He held up a finger, then tapped his commbadge. Lee cocked his head to the
side, and frowned as the CO said, "Captain to Mr. Isengard. I am sorry to
say this but the proposed meeting cannot take place yet. It will be
reconvened at a later date. Please inform me when you are ready, I am in my
Ready Room at the moment."

The CO's commbadge said back =^=Understood Sir, Ill juggle my schedule.
Isengard Out.=^=

(reply Aragorn?)

Lee took the PADD and placed it on the CO's desk once he was done. "Do to
the high level of security on this, I'm sorry, but I must confirm that you
are indeed the captain. I was told to look for Captain Kaneshiro, you are
most certainly not he." He sat back, "Computer, who is the captain of this
station?"

<<Captain Aragorn of Vega>>

Lee looked at Aragorn, waiting for him to confirm himself to the computer.

(reply if desired)

NRPG: Gonna continue... that's an easy thing to assume

Lee nodded, and mentally shrugged. It wasn't his business if the Station
switched CO's. "Anyway, Sir, The Nimitz.. She is limping here under the
utmost secrecy after an attack by the Romulans. And, well.. Starfleet
Command wants to keep that as absolutely quiet as possible. Under those
general running orders, I have been placed in command of the refit, and a
small team of structural engineers is en-route with the rest of the Nimitz's
new crew to augment your engineering staff. All the crew and material
information is on the PADD, You might have noticed the..."

Lee broke off and stood, as the Ready Room doors opened. What greeted his
eyes, was not what he expected at all. A Lt(jg) with a face almost as
scarred as his own, flanked by two security guards. "If you will come with
me, Sir." the first one said to Lee after a short glance at the CO.

~That would be Chief Isengard, no doubts.~

Lee crossed his arms, and turned back to the CO with a deadpan expression,
though he was seething inside.

~Idiot CO's, Paranoid CO's.. what reason does he have to be this paranoid?~

Without moving much, so not to spook the Security Chief, he said to the CO
in no uncertain terms, "I don't give a good hot d*mn what it is you think
you are doing, but before you go dragging me off to wherever it is you have
planned, you had best get the Fleet Admiral on the phone and confirm the
idiocy behind throwing your Chief of Projects into a torture chamber, or
brig..." he directed a hard look full of malice at Isengard, "Or wherever
and whatever it is you have planned." He turned back to the CO, "...Sir." he
added a few seconds later as an afterthought.

(Starbase Geneva, Guest Quarters, SPC Louise Palmer, 17:56)

Louise had been surprised but pleased to find that the bulk of their
belongings had already been taken to their new quarters, and it hadn't
taken her long to pack up the few things that were left, in plenty of time
for them to be brought here. And the new sculpture looked nice on the small
table against the back wall of the main room. Now she was busy in the
kitchen, preparing the special meal she had planned to welcome Aragorn back
from his first day as CO of Geneva.

To mark the occasion, she had dressed up a little, wearing a dark blue
shift dress that emphasized her figure and suited her blonde looks
perfectly. She had managed to find her one and only lipstick too, a pale
pink that also complemented her colouring. It was a slightly unusual
colour, one that didn't suit many people, certainly not those with a darker
shade of hair or complexion, and she was pleased with the result.

She planned for a quiet evening alone with Aragorn. Meh'Nor had asked to
spend the night with one of his friends, and Louise had agreed. Once Jenny
was in bed, the night would be theirs...

"I'm back!" she suddenly heard him shout from the living area, just as she
was taking the apple pie out of the oven.

"Hi, stranger,"she called as she straightened up. "You call this a decent
time, then?" she added, laughing.

"Sorry, busy day at the office," he replied.

Louise set the apple pie to cool and, stripping off her apron, went to
greet him.

She gave him a kiss, full on the lips, which promised more to come later.

"So how was your first day, then?"

(reply Aragorn)

(Starbase Geneva, Guest Quarters, SPC Louise Palmer, 18:38)

Louise watched with satisfaction as Aragorn finished his second helping of
apple pie. Jenny was still eating her portion, mainly the soft apple from
the centre of the pie, mixed with cream.

"Do you think this meeting with the Admiral will take long?" she asked,
hoping that the answer would be no. They would then still have the rest of
the evening for....

"Da-da!!" Jenny chortled suddenly, as her food went flying everywhere.

"Oh, Jenny!" exclaimed Louise. "In your mouth, sweetheart, not on the table."

"And not on me either," Aragorn said, looking at a large splat of apple and
cream mixture right in the middle of his shirt.

Louise rose quickly. "Never mind!" she said, heading for the bedroom. "I'll
get you a clean one - you can't go to the Admiral looking like that!"

When she came back out, Aragorn had already stripped off his shirt and
dropped it, still inside out, on the sofa. Louise picked it up and gave him
the clean shirt. Then while he put it on, she quickly took the pips off the
dirty one, and the commbadge, and pinned them on for him.

"There you go!" she said, kissing him on the lips. "Good as new."

She stood back and looked at him.

"Oops!" she said, grinning.

"Oops?" Aragorn queried.

"I left lipstick on your face, you don't want to go giving the Admiral the
wrong impression, now do you!" she said, wiping away the pink smear with
her fingertips. "There! Good as new!"

(reply Aragorn)

"You had better get going, it won't do for you to be late for the Admiral,"
she reminded him with a grin. "And the sooner you get there the sooner it
will be all over and you can come home again. And then..."

(reply Aragorn)

(Starbase Geneva, Guest Quarters, SPC Louise Palmer, 18:50)

Once Aragorn had left, and Jenny was wiped and sat on the mat with her
bricks, Louise picked up Aragorn's dirty shirt and turned it right-way-out,
ready to be cleaned. As she did so, something caught her eye and she looked
more closely at the collar.

~lipstick! I really must be more -~

She took a closer look.

~THAT IS NOT MY COLOUR!~

It wasn't. The tone was too dark altogether for Louise's colouring.

She frowned, remembering the gossip about him kissing the Admiral.

~no one mentioned HER kissing HIM!~ she thought sourly. And Aragorn hadn't
said anything about the Admiral kissing him either.

Louise looked at the shirt again. There on the shoulder was a single, long,
light-brown hair.

~I wonder what colour hair that Admiral has!~ Louise thought grimly.

Then the doorchime sounded, and dropping the shirt back on the sofa, Louise
went to answer it. It was Gelly, the mother of the little boy Meh'Nor was
staying with

"Oh Louise! I tried to call you over the comm, but it said there was a
fault!" Gelly began.

"What's the matter?" Louise asked, with a sick feeling. She had no
commbadge as yet, since she wasn't an official part of the crew. So if
their communit was out of order there was no way for Gelly to have got in
touch.

"I'm afraid Meh'Nor has had an accident, he and Kester were playing on the
bunk beds and Meh'nor fell from the top bunk! He knocked himself out and
the doctor thinks he has a broken arm too! He's in Sickbay - oh Louise, I'm
so sorry....."

Louise went pale. "Gelly, can you look after Jenny for me? I must get Arag
and go to Sickbay!"

Gelly nodded. "Of course, B'reth is with Kester. I'll take Jenny home with
me. Oh Louise, can you forgive me?"

Louise managed a tight smile. "I know what Meh'Nor's like, it's a wonder it
hasn't happened before," she said, grabbing a clean babygro for Jenny and a
few nappies and stuffing them into a bag. "Here," she said, "I think this
is all you'll need."

Picking up Jenny, she gave her a kiss. "You be a good girl for Mummy, you
hear?" she said, passing her to Gelly. Together the two women left, Gelly
for her quarters and Louise to find the Admiral's module.

(Starbase Geneva, Admiral's Module, SPC Louise Palmer, 19:03)

Louise was slightly out of breath when she reached the module. Apart from
when in the turbolifts, she had run all the way.

As she reached out for the doorchime, she saw that the door itself was
slightly open. Without thinking, she walked right in, so desperate was she
to find Aragorn.

"I'm sorry to interrupt-" she began, then stopped, as her eyes grew
accustomed to the dim light.

Instead of the official meeting she had been led to expect, this was
clearly something else altogether.

The room was lit only by candles, although there were quite a few of those,
but strategically placed so as not to give too much light. A bottle of
champagne and two flutes stood on a small table near the opulent sofa.

A woman lay on the sofa, ~draped would be a more suitable word,~ Louise
thought nastily, clad only in a more or less see-through negligee and a
pair of high heels. Louise could see plainly that was all the woman was
wearing because from the angle she stood at, certain parts of the garment
were completely transparent.

~Official meeting - yeah right. The place looks like a brothel and that is
MOST DEFINITELY NOT regulation uniform - except perhaps for a tart!~

Automatically Louise looked at the woman's hair. It was reddish, not the
same colour as the hair she had found.

Then she turned to look at Aragorn, who had another woman standing beside
him, this one dressed in Starfleet uniform and wearing the pips of a
commander. Her hair, glinting in the light of the candle burning on the
shelf near to her, was brown. Light brown. Louise's eyes narrowed.

~SHE must be the one who left the lipstick!~

She suppressed the urge to slap the woman, who she assumed was the FO with
the over-amorous inclination for her COs that she had heard about, and took
a deep breath.

"I am SO sorry to interrupt such an interesting *social* occasion," she
said, her voice shaking slightly and dripping with sarcasm. "But I thought
Aragorn might like to know that his son has had an accident and is in Sickbay."

She looked straight at Aragorn, almost shaking with a complex mixture of
emotions consisting of worry for Meh'Nor, fury at the situation she had so
obviously interrupted, and pain at the thought that Arag could do something
like this.

"I'll see you there, when you can tear yourself away from your - your
*WOMEN*!!!"

Turning on her heel, she left the room with as much dignity as she could
manage. Once outside she felt the hot tears spill over and course down her
cheeks.

~How could he! I'd never have thought he'd behave like such a rat, not Arag!~
