Mission: The Sword of Damocles
Day 3
Stardate 2407.02.04

(USS Spectre - Captains Ready Room - CO T`Vhor - 08:44)

The arrival of the ACSO took the Captain by surprise,
he had only just finished his discussion with Admiral
LoDona when the chime had sounded & he bade the man
enter.

"Sir, if I may speak?", said McKenzie.

"Of course Ensign, what can I do for you?", said
T`Vhor.

"I would like permission to lead a Science team over
to the enemy vessel sir. I understand that we are not
sure of what we are dealing with, so I think I
could...Umm. "Dig up" some dirt on this thing.", said
McKenzie.

"Dirt Ensign?", said T`Vhor... "Oh, yes I see", he
added, "a human colloquialism"

The Captain then pondered the ACSO`s request as he
settled back into his chair, noting as he did so that
the man seemed overtly interested in the various
articles scattered about his ready room. He then
addressed him once again to break him from his
apparent scrutiny.

"The Engineering teams are working with the vessels
systems as we speak Ensign, I do believe that they
will solve the problems they face", said T`Vhor.

"However, you may take two science officers to assist
but please be prepared to return to the Spectre at a
moments notice", said T`Vhor.

"The situation we are currently in now is not what one
would describe as particularly safe so I want your
team out the moment there is any trouble", he added.

(Reply McKenzie)

"The MXO currently has authority on the Vessel, report
to him the moment you arrive", said T`Vhor.

(Reply McKenzie)

The Captain then dismissed the Ensign before turning
his attention to one of the Vulcan artifacts he had
been looking at upon his arrival.

~Curious~

The Captain then opened a channel to the bridge.

"Mr Rogers, take the Spectre to a safe distance from
the enemy vessel as agreed earlier, once Ensign
McKenzie has left with his team engage the cloak &
stand by for further orders", said T`Vhor.

(Reply McKenzie, Rogers)

(USS Spectre - Bridge - FO - Lt. Brian Rogers - 08.45)

Rogers was sitting at the Helm station and staring at the viewscreen,
the impressive window to a vista of stars.

He tapped his comm badge, "Rogers to Dr. Williams," he said.

(reply Williams)

"Is Mr. Rodriguez ready for duty?" he asked.

(reply Williams)

"Please have him report for duty on the bridge as soon has he is
ready."

(reply Williams)

"Thank you, doc. Rogers out," he said. As soon has the channel closed,
T'Vhor hailed him.

=/\= Mr. Rogers, take the Spectre to a safe distance from the enemy
vessel as agreed earlier, once Ensign McKenzie has left with his team
engage the cloak and stand by for further orders, =/\= T'Vhor said.

"Aye, sir," Rogers said. He piloted the ship a few thousand kilometers
from the enemy ship and brought her about, then came to a stop. He rose
from the helm station and tapped his comm badge. "Rogers to Chenoll,"
he
said.

=/\= Aye, sir, =/\= she said.

"Is the cloaking device usable?"

=/\= Aye. =/\= was Chenoll's curt reply. Rogers wondered if something
was wrong.

"Very well. Rogers out," he said. He walked over to the Captain's Chair
and sat down and waited for word from the Transporter Room that
McKenzie's team was aboard the ship.

=^=Rogers to Dr. Williams=^=

"Dr Williams here Mr Rogers is there anything I can do
for you."

=^=Is Mr. Rodriguez ready for duty?=^=

"I'm just waiting for some scan results. if they are
fine I'll dischagre him."

=^=Please have him report for duty on the bridge as
soon has he is ready.=^=

"I'll inform him Mr Rogers."

=^=Thank you, doc. Rogers out=^=

Andrew looked over at Rodriguez and back to the scanns
that had just arrived.

~well there is nothing major. I should keep him for
another 24 hours but its not critical~

He walked over to Rodriguez.

"Hallo again Mr Rodriguez. I've just had a look at the
scans. it shows nothing serious. I would like to keep
you in for anouth 24 hours just to make shore."

(reply Rodriguez)

"Well you are correct. there is nothing emediatly
wrong."

(reply Rodriguez)

Andrew shood his head.

"okay Mr Rodriguez go MR Rodgers seams to be missing
you on the bridge. but if you feel anything come back
right away okay."

(USS Spectre, turbo lift, ACSO Ensign (JG) Kenneth McKenzie 08:48 hours)

"Transporter room." Kenny said to the Computer. He heard it's bleep of acknolment and the whirling of the lift as it began to move. He was going to go over to the enemy vessel to see if he could find out more about the ship. The Engineers where trying to get it up and running, well it was his job to find out more about it. He tapped him COMM badge

=/\= "Ensign McKenzie to Ensigns MacDonald and Tagliani. Meet me in the transporter room if you are available and bring a standard science pack with you guys." =/\=

(Enemy Vessel - Main Engineering - Forward Assault Squad CO - Master
Sergeant Scott Bowie - 08.49)

The trip with the Engineers had been easy and a simple babysitting job.
No tango's were on the ship. They were now in Engineering and the
eggheads were going about the room, getting the ship ready.

=/\= Status report Master sergeant if you please. Please Bowie, make it
good news, =/\= "Kolie" said.

"Yeah, boss. The Engineers say we'll get warp drive in 10 minutes or
so," Bowie reported.

(reply Kowalski)

"Yes, sir. Bowie out," he said, and supervised the Engineer's continued
work.

(Enemy Vessel - Bridge - MXO Major Bruce Kowalski - 08.50)

The news that the warp engines were likely to be
online within ten minutes pleased Kowalski no end, he
had an eerie feeling about this place & the thought of
the other vessel returning before they were in motion
again was not one which he particularly relished at
all.

"Thanks Bowie, good news indeed..... be sure to pass
my thanks onto the engineers themselves", said the
MXO.

"Better stay with them until their done too, Smith has
rounded up most of the Beasties but there are a few
still on the loose so keep an eye out will you", said
Kowalski.

(Reply Bowie, IYW)

"Breaking news, Spectre is sending a science team to
assist, have someone meet up with them when they beam
over", said the MXO.

"Yes, sir. Bowie out," said Bowie as he returned to
the task in hand.

The good news from Smith was a relief, the MXO did not
savour the fact that those spiney little creatures the
Klingons liked to term "Pets", were running around
loose in the ship. The fact that some Klingons
actually thought them adorable was quite beyond him,
but then again whoever said a Klingon had taste...

"Good work Agent Smith", said the MXO, "let`s see if
we can`t get those last few also though shall we, one
of those gutsy lil sods`ll tear ya a new asshole if
you turn your back on them", he added. "Or perhaps
even remove the one you got"

(reply Smith)

"Understood, don`t take any chances with them, if you
can`t contain them you are authorised to use deadly
force", said Kowalski.

(Reply Smith, IYW)

"Kowalski out", said the MXO as he closed the channel
with a sigh.

(USS Spectre - Captain`s Ready Room - CO T`Vhor &
Presidential Aide Unaru Castigan - 09:00)

"Enter", said the Captain in responce to the chime
that had just sounded at his door. The man on the
other side of course needed no introduction for T`Vhor
knew who he was before he had even walked through that
door.

Unaru Castigan however, had now lost the almost drab,
dark matt appearance he had come aboard in for he was
now dressed in a traditional sand coloured robe
typical of his tribal ancestry. As the man took the
offered seat opposite the Captain however, T`Vhor
surveyed his features for a short time before
furnishing the man with a beverage of his choice.

The presidential aide was clearly an honourable one,
his chisseled features were unusual for a human of his
skin tone & T`Vhor couldn`t help but feel the innate
calm within him as he sat there, sipping at the glass
he now held in his hand.

Of course the facial scars were a complete puzzle to
the Vulcan hybrid, very few races T`Vhor had ever
encountered indulged in such practices but to see them
here & now on the Spectre invited quiery. This however
was not the time.

"So Mr Castigan, I believe that the ball, as they say
is now in your court", said T`Vhor. "We are now in the
Chaltok system as you requested, Chaltok IV is now
visible I believe from the observation window in your
quarters"

Unaru said nothing as he sipped again at the fruit
juice in his hand, then after placing the glass upon
the table a resting back into his chair, he began to
speak.

"The requested transmission was made from my quarters
at precisely 08:45hrs Captain", said Castigan with a
slight hint of sadness in his voice.

"That transmission was not answered, I refuse to
accept any alternatives so I can therefore only assume
that the President was unable to keep to the
arrangement & that he has attempted to follow the
alternate pre-arranged course", he added.

"That would be Tranome Sar then I assume?", said
T`Vhor to which Castigan simply nodded without a word.

"Tranome sar has significance to the Klingon empire
regardless of the fact that it is in Romulan space",
said T`Vhor as he placed his hands upon the desk &
clasped them together. "Why would the President go to
this planet?", he added.

Castigan sat upright at the Captains words & furrowed
his brow, "what do you know of Klingon involvement at
Tranome Sar Captain?", he asked.

"I know that they fought pitched battles with the
Romulans there over territorial claims", said T`Vhor,
"I am still puzzled as to why President Nell would
travel there though", he added.

Castigan shrugged his shoulders in responce,
"something about a loyalty clause, a debt owed to him
by one residing there...... I am not aware of all the
facts of course", said Castigan as he reached again
for his glass.

"I see", said T`Vhor pausing briefly to formulate his
next question.

"Mr Castigan, as you are no doubt aware, we recently
encountered two Mercenary vessels that fired upon us
without provocation", said T`Vhor, "when you consider
the fact that we were not only cloaked, but that we
are also the second vessel to be attacked whilst you
were currently onboard, it is logical to assume that
your wherabouts are somehow known by others not allied
to our cause", he added.

Castigan shrugged again, "this puzzles me also
Captain, I cannot however see how anyone can know
where I am, even Rondar himself does not know where I
am at this precise moment in time", he added.

The Captain nodded in responce but was deeply
perturbed by the facts surrounding the presidential
aide, it was almost as though someone somewhere were
one step ahead of them & privvy to the mans wherabouts
at all times.

"Mr Castigan, may I have your permission to scan your
belongings for anything that might be hidden upon your
person or personage?", said the Captain.

Castigan imediately frowned & placed his glass hard
upon the table at the notion the Captain had just
implied.

"Captain, I assure you that I have nothing to hide",
said Castigan in an agrieved tone, "I am a man of
peace, I would not deign to put the lives of others in
danger", he added as his body language took on that of
an agitated man.

"I`m sorry Mr Castigan, please forgive me, I was not
implying that you were covertly transmitting your
location, I was merely implying that you may be doing
so without your knowledge via some hidden device",
said T`Vhor.

"Logic dictates that someone somewhere is aware of
your location that should not be", said T`Vhor, "we
should investigate this imediately if this mission is
to continue without further undue risk to my crew or
to yourself", he added.

Castigan closed his eyes, took a deep breath & then
let it all go again, the Captain was right of course &
he knew it.

"Very well Captain, do what you will, perform your
investigation, I will not hinder you", said Castigan.

"Thank you Mr Castigan", said T`Vhor, "I will have a
security officer sent to your quarters to perform the
neccesary checks", he added as Castigan stood up to
down the remainder of his fruit juice before turning
about to leave.

It was obvious of course that the man was still
slightly agrieved at the implications that he himself
had been endangering the crew & it showed upon his
face. Nonetheless, it should be investigated & he knew
that it was foolish to argue with the logic of a
Vulcan.

"Mr Castigan", said T`Vhor standing from his chair &
calling to the departing dignitory, "I will set a
course for Tranome Sar, you will be informed upon our
arrival there", he added.

Castigan simply nodded & then left the room as the
Captain sat once again. He then took a deep breath
himself & opened a channel to the security chief to
arrange the neccesary investigations.

Jo went back to console. she found that most of the
Targs that were left had gathered in small groups.

deck above her.

weapon ready. she new by her scans that there were
three tags on this deck. there small thermal
signatures came steady on her visor display.

~just a little further~

She found them chewing down on a soldier. the enemy
soldier had been dead for sometime due to the bits of
him scattered around the corridor as the Targs went
through there feeding frenzy.

"Agent Smith to Engineering detail. Is it possible to
get the power back on in my section?"

(reply engineering detail, Bowie)

"Sooner rather then later would be wonderful."

She stepped back and tripped over a piece of debris.
she fell hard to the floor.

~ow hell~

The Targs had heard her fall and the prospect of fresh
meat was to much for them. As Jo watched they turned
as one and charged her.

Jo instinctively raised her sidearm and fired at them.
the first two were hit and skidded to a halt dead. the
third leaped at her she tried to fire at the Targ but
it knocked her weapon out of her hand.

she rolled to one side and stood up. the Targ had
turned and was charging again. She saw her side arm
and realised that it was to far away. She reached down
and grabbed her Combat Knife. She watched for the Targ
to leap at her. She rolled right and slammed the
Combat Knife under the jaw and into the Targs brain.
it fell to the floor in a dead heap.

~bloody hell that was close~

Jo picked up her sidearms and sheathed the Combat
Knife.

Bowie sat around, watching the Engineers go about their work. He
wondered if anything could be anything more boring. He took his Pallas
helmet off and sat it on the ground and looked at the odd-shaped warp
core. Soon, he got a call from that Agent Smith women. He had heard
rumors that she was pestering Dr. Williams, but like most rumors, but
who knew the truth.

=/\= Agent Smith to Engineering detail. Is it possible to get the power

"Sure, give us some time, Agent," said one of the engineers.

they didn't seem to get anywhere. Finally, a reply from came from Smith.

=/\= Agent Smith to Engineering detail no rush with the power. I've

Bowie exchange a confused look with the Engineering team leader. "Good
hunting, Agent Smith," Bowie said. The channel closed and Bowie drew
his phaser rifle and walked back to the door and gave a quick check before
returning back to watch the engineering team.

(Enemy Vessel - Bridge - MXO Major Bruce Kowalski -
09:10)

"Isn`t that just typical, everything is coming online
but the galley, didn`t anyone ever tell ship designers
a soldier marches on his stomach", said the MXO in an
agrieved tone of voice.

"Set the galley behind the heavy shielding away from
enemy heavy artiliary....that`s what I always said but
does anyone listen.... of course they bloody don`t",
said Kowalski as the private & lance corporal beside
him grimaced to themselves & nodded.

"So who the hell have we got coming over?", said the
MXO having calmed a little now.

"A science team sir, seems the Spectre`s CO feels they
might get something outta the core that we couldn`t",
said the Lance Corporal.

"Really?", said Kowalski turning around in apparent
disbelief.

"Apparently this guy knows his stuff sir, a whiz with
computer cores", said the LC.

"Better than Jones uh, ok.... we`ll see", said
Kowalski as they turned right into the vessels
transporter room to be confronted with a marine
stationed at the transporter controls & one other
standing near the door. Both acknowledged the MXO`s
arrival with a curt "Sir", & were quickly put at ease
by Kowalski.

"Ok, bring em on", said Kowalski turning his attention
to the transport pads. "Aye sir", said the transporter
operator & imediately the familiar shimmer of a
threefold transport greeted their eyes.

The marines instinctively raised their weapons as the
three materialised into view & then lowered them again
once they realised that nothing else had transported
in with them that shouldn`t have.

The Science officer looked stunned at their responce
but recomposed himself quickly enough as he stepped
down from the pad to walk straight for the MXO.

"Assistant Chief Science Officer Ensign Kenneth
McKenzie, Sir", said the Spectre crewman. "I have been
given permission to search the ship databanks to find
out more about this ship, is there anything or
anywhere you would like me to start off with or do?",
he added.

~Umm, efficiency personified~

"Well, I would suggest the bridge would be as good a
place as any Ensign", said Kowalski, "there seems to
be a fairly standard ODN installed, bio neural gelpack
storage & all....should be a walk in the park for you
science guys", he added.

(Reply McKenzie)

"I`ll have you escorted up there now", said the MXO
turning to the marines he had arrived with & nodding
appropriately to indidcate that they had just been
volunteered for the task in hand.

(Reply McKenzie, IYW)

"So, what`s the latest on Spectre Mac..... you don`t
mind me calling you Mac do you Ensign?", said the MXO
as they all headed out of the transporter room to walk
off down the coriddor.

(Enemy Vessel, Bridge, ACSO Kenneth Ensign (JG) McKenzie, 09:12 hours)

Kenny felt a little cold as the matter that made up his body was put back together again by the Spectre's transporters. He looked around the enemy vessel to which he was now in. It was dark, basic and rustic, kind of like a Klingon Warbird, but a bit more stylish, most of the place was a kind of dark silver colour, Kenny even recognised some of the designs of certain things such as consoles and how the room was made out, but he was not sure what...

He looked to his right and almost dropped his science pack that he was carrying when he saw some of the Marines where holding their phaser rifles at him. The lowered them when they saw his uniform, but still looked at him as if he might make a move agest them at any moment.

"Sorry about that, umm, Ensign. You can never be too careful" one of them said.

Bloody Marines, Kenny thought, they was all very jumpy and far to violent for his liking, very different form what he thought they should be. Always wanting a fight, they did.

"Aye, sure" Kenny replied as he walked over to the MXO; Major Bruce Kowalski. He could tell he was Kowalski, the MXO where always large, bulky men as he was. It was kind of a stereotype, but it was true.

"Assistant Chief Science Officer Ensign Kenneth McKenzie, Sir." I have been given permission to search the ship data banks to find out more about this ship, is there anything or anywhere you would like me to start of with or do?"

(Enemy Vessel - Transporter Room - ACSO Ensign (JG) Kenneth McKenzie - 09:13 hours)

"Well, I would suggest the bridge would be as good a place as any Ensign. There seems to be a fairly standard ODN installed, bio-neural gelpack storage and all... Should be a walk in the park for you science guys" said Kowalski.

"Umm, sure thing, Sir." replied Kenny.

"I`ll have you escorted up there now"

The MXO gestured to the Marines who had almost damn near shot him to come with him. The MXO was taking no chances of anything bad happening. Kenny was not sure if they wear protecting him, making sure he did not betray them, or both. He was not sure how to feel. He Marines were a funny lot.

They turned and headed out of the transporter room. Two Marines walked behind Kenny, another to flanked him, and the MXO walked infront of him. Kenny did not know if he felt safe or not. He had a very funny feeling that the Marines at his back were pointing phaser rifles at his back, readily to blast him if he got out of line, but he was most likely just imagining it...

"So, whats the latest on Spectre, Mac? Oh, you don`t
mind me calling you "Mac" do you Ensign? asked the MXO.

Kenny looked at the man with a confused look. He was not sure what he meant.

"My name is McKenize, Sir, not MacKenzie. Different Scottish clans altogether."

(Reply MXO Kowalski)

Anyway. I'm not really sure whats going on the Spectre's bridge, most likely whaching out for more of..." He pasued, looking at the interior of the corridor they were walking down. Like the transporter room, this was very familiar. "These funny ships" He said at last. "Oh, there where a few deaths..."

His words seem to silence them all. Some of them seemed to be lost in thought, perhaps they had lost a close friend in the fighting to take the ship.

The reached the bridge. Again, the place look familiar... Very familiar. Then it struck him; This bridge looked a little like a bridge on most Federation ships, only it had a kind of dark metal look. He walked over to a console, he was suprized to find that it looked like the Science one he used back on the Spectre. In fact, it WAS a Federation console. It was the same as he used before.

Kenny looked around the bridge, the whole place did look like a Federation ship bridge... The dark metal look was what made it stand out. He could see that all the consoles where Federation. Maybe they had been stolen, or, even worse, bought...

But they where here and this was a Federation ship of some sorts... He wounded how the outside looked. Working on the science console, he brought up the ships outlook. He found it where it would have been on Federation ships. The picture came on the screen as a yellow wire-frame on a black background, then separated into three other pictures; One of the top, one of the bottom and one that was level but turned around. He was amazed and shocked by what he saw;

"This ship is a bloody Prometheus Class!" he said, then realised he said it out loud.

"That can't be!" said a Marine.

"Well, it is. I can see by the info, I have here. It's had quite a few changes to it. The dark room for one thing, but it is defiantly bases on the Prometheus."

He saw a look of suprize on most of their faces. Kenny understood why; The Prometheus Class were ships which where still in the experimental stage. He had heard very little about the Promethues Classes, as they where top secret by Star Fleet, but he had to have a look. For some reason, the files where all open and un-encriped. Kenny was a science dork, and he was not going to allow this chance of looking at one first-hand to slip away. He inspected more about this ship. Looking into many different files. What he found shocked him even more. Designed as a battle ship, he found that this ship has muil-phasic and regenerative shields, quantum torpedo lunchers, ablative armour and warp engines almost able reach warp 10.

He read on. fascinated by this ship. This was the sort of vessel that could destroy the Federations most powerful enemies like the Borg. What really made he excised was the ships special use; It is able to spilt into three sections, allowing to hit their target from different angels. All three sections where also warp capable and very, very deadly.

He began to wonder if what he was doing was illegal... He was looking into top secret Star Fleet files. But they where on the ship, and he was mean to find out more... He wonder if that excuse would work if he got in trouble.

He opened his science pack and took out a PADD. He began to down load this information to it. Again, he wondered if this was illegal. But he didn't really care. This was all amazing to him. But he knew that T'Vhor would want to see him. Kenny knew that he dind't know much about them either, but he would most liking give him a word or two about looking into top secret Federation files.

He wanted to get this information to T'Vhor right away The rest of the stuff could wait, this had to be brought to T'Vhor.

"I would like to transport back over to the Spectre quiky." he said to the MXO.

(Enemy Vessel - Bridge - MXO Major Bruce Kowalski -
09:14)

"My name is McKenzie, Sir, not MacKenzie. Different
Scottish clans altogether.", said the ACSO.

"Is that so?", said the MXO, "Mac, Mc it`s all the
same to me, still sounds like Mac", he added as they
walked along the coriddor towards one of the
turbolifts.

McKenzie`s remarks on the fact that there were deaths
on the Spectre when asked though didn`t surprise any
of them at all, silence however seemed apropriate due
to the fact that some of their own were amongst those
that had fallen.

By the time they had finally reached the bridge
however, the ACSO had become convinced that he had
seen this all before, his attention darting this way &
that as he formulated a hypothesis in his head before
he let it all go.

"This ship is a bloody Prometheus Class!", said
McKenzie.

"That can't be!" said one of the Marines.

"Well, it is. I can see by the info, I have here. It's
had quite a few changes to it. The dark room for one
thing, but it is definatly bases on the Prometheus.",
said McKenzie as he set about delving deeper into the
ships schematics & technical details with an ever
increasing urgency.

McKenzie seemed like a man possessed now & he looked
more & more agitated the further he read through the
ships details, before long though he had stood up to
turn around abruptly to face the MXO once again.

"I would like to transport back over to the Spectre
quicky.", said McKenzie.

"But you only just got here", said Kowalski, "are you
telling me you have everything you need already?", he
added.

(Reply McKenzie)

The MXO looked puzzled at the mans insistence to beam
out again & to be honest he was a little miffed at
having to arrange an escort to take him back down to
the transporter room again so soon after meeting him.

"Jeez, you people never cease to amaze......ok, if
your sure that`s all you need then you better get back
over there", said Kowalski as he arranged for one of
the marines to take both him & the security officer
he`d arrived with back down to the lower decks.

"One thing though", said Kowalski as they reached the
turbolift doors, "message to the CO of the Spectre,
this bird will be flying before 10:45hrs, the crew
roster is set & all returning Spectre personel will be
back as arranged", he added.

(Reply McKenzie)

The MXO then returned his attention to the forward
viewscreen which had just intermitently flickered into
life as the power was restored to all systems by the
engineers working on it.

(USS Spectre - Security - TAC/SC Yelena Vasilyovna -
09:15)

"....And I said the safety of this vessel & her crew
are paramount to anything else Ensign Lasalle", said
the security chief in responce.

"The fact that those men are injured does not mean
they go unguarded, some of those men would pull
themselves to the nearest phaser & finish you off with
no qualms whatsoever, legs or no legs", said Yelena.

"Yes sir", said Lasalle, "I`m sorry sir, I didn`t mean
to........", he added as the chief cut him off in an
instance.

"Didn`t mean to what Ensign, leave your post when you
should clearly not have done so.....", said Yelena
angrilly. "Your on report, note that & note it well,
any further lapses in security will not be tolerated
either by you or anyone else, return to medical at
once", she added as she stormed out of the room
leaving the thoroughly ticked off crewman to lick his
wounds.

~I can`t believe this, I just can`t.....~

Yelena shook her head at the thought, the fact that
the patients were injured shouldn`t have even come
into it, they were the damned enemy & they would
retaliate against their captors no matter what given
half the chance to do so, Lasalle should have known
that.

The chief however was quickly distracted from her
thoughts of disbelief the moment the comms came in
from the CO, she went from agitation to quiet calm in
an instance as she was duly ordered to arrange a
passive & active sweep of their mysterious guests
quarters for possible bugs or surveilance equipment.

"Yes sir, I`ll arrange it imediately", said Yelena as
she walked into her office, tapping at her combadge as
she did so.

"Vasilyovna to Ensign Guildford", said Yelena.

(Reply Guildford)

"Did you finish that task I assigned you yet", said
Yelena slipping in behind her desk to take a seat.

(Reply Guildford)

"The Captain has ordered a sweep of Mr Castigan & his
quarters for any surveilance equipment he may be
unknowingly carrying", said Yelena. "Take Davies, or
any other security that may be available if he isn`t",
she added.

(Reply Guildford)

"Make this thorough Ensign Guildford, if that man is
broadcasting our location, either knowingly or
unknowingly I want to know about it yesterday....do I
make myself clear?", said Yelena.

(Reply Guildford)

"Let me know what you find imediately if & when you
find it, Vasilyovna out", said the security chief as
she picked up a nearby PADD to go through the reports
that had just come in remotely from Epsilon & Zeta.

So far it didn`t look too bad, which was quite often a
prerequisite for everything suddenly going very
wrong...

~Don`t think like that Yelena, optimism. Optimism.~

"Damn.... H'Chir & Korak!!!", said Yelena upon
realising that they too had come aboard mid mission.
What if either of them had been transmitting
something?....

~So much for optimism~

In an instance she had tapped at her communicator to
open a channel to the CO....

(USS Spectre - Captains Ready Room - CO T`Vhor &
TAC/SC Yelena Vasilyovna - 09:22)

Taking a sip of his coffee, the Captain walked slowly
towards one of the windows in his ready room to look
out onto the black marauder that had just caused so
much damage to thir ship. It was strange how it just
sat there lilting to one side in an uncontrolled yaw,
it`s navigational aspect & axis controls clearly still
offline.

Even in it`s powered down state though the ship looked
dangerous, T`Vhor had never seen a vessel of this
configuration before, it was clearly a ship designed
for battle & little else.

Considering the fact that the other one was still out
there somewhere however, T`Vhor found himself looking
beyond the vessel & into the distance of space
stretching light years away from them. The thought of
it`s return was not a pleasant one & as the CO took
another sip of the coffee in his hand, he suddenly
realised how lucky they had been to survive this
particular conflict.

The chirp of a communique coming in however distracted
the CO from his thoughts.

=/\=Vasilyovna to T`Vhor=/\=

"Go ahead Lieutenant", said the CO.

=/\=Sir, regarding the scans for surveilance equipment
in Mr Castigans quarters..... I think it might be
prudent to scan both Mr H'Chir & his companion for any
unauthorised transmissions also=/\=

The Captain raised an eyebrow quizically, & then moved
to his chair to take a seat.

"On what grounds Yelena", said T`Vhor placing his
coffee cup upon the table as he sat.

=/\=With all due respect sir, both of them came aboard
mid mission as did Mr Castigan, considering that we
might be broadcasting our position unknowingly it
would be wise to look at all possible avenues=/\=

The Captain thought on this for a few moments, then he
replied to the security chiefs request.

"Agreed", said the Captain, "better to run a complete
scan of the ship for any unauthorised transmissions
off ship as well as the scan of Mr Castigan & his
quarters", said T`Vhor. "Liase with Science on this,
see if any of the logs show anything untoward also",
he added.

"Aye sir, I`ll see to it right away, I have Guildford
checking out Castigan already, might be a good idea to
run a level one diagnostic on the cloak also sir, any
variance in our phasing might act as a beacon also",
said Yelena.

"I`ll have engineering look at it right away, T`Vhor
out", said the Captain as he finished the last of his
coffee before opening a channel to engineering.

"T`Vhor to Lieutenant Chenoll", said the Captain.

(Reply Chenoll)

"I want you to get someone on the cloak, run a level
one diagnostic & make sure it is operating within
tolerance", said the Captain.

(Reply Chenoll)

"A precautionary measure only Lieutenant, nothing

completed", said the CO as he closed the channel &
stood to take advantage of the window he now had in
order to check on those in sickbay.

Kenny pressed the chime on the Captains Ready Room. He had enough data on his PADD so he thought that he should return to the Spectre and he knew that the Captain should know. He was not sure if Star Fleet already knew what he discovered back on the enemy vessel, but he had to tell T'Vhor.

*NRPG* Assuming the Captain lets me in

*RPG*

Kenny entered the room. He wasted no time in sitting down on the chair opposite the Captains desk and put his PADD on the table. Kenny thought that he saw T'Vhor raise one of his eyebrows in the typical Vulcan fashion once he saw Kenny's haste.

"Excuse me, Sir, but I think you should see this right away." Kenny said, pointing at the PADD.

(Reply Captain T'Vhor)

"Basicly, all that is on this PADD is what I was able tae download from the vessels databanks. Some of it was heavily encrypted or deleted. I guess that once they knew they where losing they started tae erase files, but I was able tae get some of it. Anyway, believe it or not, these two ships are based on the Prometheus Class. Aye, Sir. You heard me. There have been many changes tae them , which is why we did not resgonise them, but they are Prometheus. What I cannie find out is how the Hell they stole some from Star Fleet. Unless they were bought... But that dinnie bare thinking about. Oh, I was also able tae find out why there are Targs aboard. It seems that these ships transporters have been modifed tae get through most ship's shields... And what they do is, as they attack ships, they beam the Targs aboard. Can you imagine having tae deal with an attacking ship, and Targs on your ship at the same time?"

(Reply T'Vhor)

"Anyway, I was able tae find out who they belong tae; Admiral Doemitz. It seems he was able tae get his hands on these ships and modifiy them, who or how he got them? I dinnie ken. I wasnae able tae get that info. Also, they came after us as we have that diplomat guy...Whats his name. It apears that he has "vital imformation" about Doemitz. Dinne ken what is is though... But since Admiral Doenitz has these ships, I think our war just got a wee bit more malky... Umm, that's Scottish for "hard", Sir."

Having dealt with the Security chiefs concerns
regarding H'Chir & Korak, the Captain sat back into
his chair only to be alerting once again by the chime
sounding at his door.

"Enter", said T`Vhor as he turned his attention to the
arriving officer only to be surprised at who it was.

"Excuse me, Sir, but I think you should see this right
away.", said the rather agitated Science officer as he
imediately rushed in & took a seat opposite the
Captain.

"Please, take a seat Ensign", said T`Vhor raising an
eyebrow in a show of disbelief at McKenzies apparent
brashness & disrespect.

(Reply McKenzie IYW)

"I did not expect you back so soon Ensign, I would
suggest however that you explain your eagerness & your
current erratic behaviour", said the Captain as Ensign
McKenzie launched into an almost incomprehensible
report as to what he had found in the enemy vessels
databanks in order to explain his current
excitability.

It seemed the man was convinced that both ships were
actually modified Prometheus class vessels
irrespective of the fact that they didn`t even
resemble them in the slightest externally.

"They are unlike any vessel I have ever encountered",
said the Captain quizically. "They do not look like
Prometheus class".

McKenzie of course continued on with his somewhat
erraticly presented report, backing up his assumptions
with fact & then going on to explain his theories
behind the enemy crews use of Targ`s in their boarding
tactics & other such things.

"Can you imagine having tae deal with an attacking
ship, and Targs on your ship at the same time?", said
Ensign McKenzie relaxing a little now in his seat.

"It is not something I would like to contemplate
Ensign", said T`Vhor, "although if indeed this is a
tactic used often by this crew, then I am surprised
they were not used against us also", he added.

McKenzie nodded in agreeance & was then able to
confirm also that Mr Castigans presence on board the
Spectre was in fact known to the enemy crew, as his
name was mentioned in a number of the encrypted files
contained in the ships computer core. Proof was also
found it would seem regarding the vessels allegience
to Admiral Doenitz...

"I think our war just got a wee bit more malky... Umm,
that's Scottish for "hard", Sir.", said McKenzie in an
attempt to translate his often missunderstood regional
references.

"Thank you Ensign, I was not aware of that but will be
so from this point on", said T`Vhor as he placed the
PADD McKenzie had brought with him onto the table
again.

"Good work Ensign McKenzie, I`m sure the information
you managed to retrieve will be most useful", said the
Captain, "you are dismissed", he added as McKenzie
stood up from the chair to turn about.

"Ensign McKenzie", said T`Vhor as the Science officer
was leaving, "the next time you have cause to visit me
in my ready room, please do so in a less excitable
manner", said T`Vhor.

(Reply McKenzie)

"You may return to science one, I need everything we
have on Tranome Sar made available, also anything that
might give us a tactical advantage there", said the
Captain.

Most of the primary battle repairs had been made and the Spectre would
have enough to finish the mission and back to a Starbase, but Chenoll
wouldn't recommend they go to the battle front or lead a fleet into a
major offensive.

~But then again we don't do that. We have a cloaking device. We fight
the war from the shadows with a dagger.,~ she thought with a cunning
smile. Bolians were peaceful by nature, but something about the
Spectre's Black Ops nature made her smile.

Her philosophical thoughts on war were interrupted by a call from the
CO.

=/\= T`Vhor to Lieutenant Chenoll, =/\= T'Vhor said.

"Yes, Captain?" She said rising from the small stool that sat next to

=/\= I want you to get someone on the cloak, run a level one diagnostic

"Is something wrong with it, sir?" Chenoll asked, some what alarmed.

information about the cloaking device.

=/\= A precautionary measure only Lieutenant, nothing more.... let me

(USS Spectre - Sick bay - CO T`Vhor - 09:30)

Walking into sickbay, the Captain wasn`t quite sure
what to expect. This was the first time he had been
able to get away from his duties on the bridge & he
needed to see for himself now the damage that had been
sustained by his crew.

The medical teams had obviously done their jobs well &
had treated most of the walking wounded now, but a few
were still engaged in dealing with those that were
more seriously injured from their recent battle with
the two mercenary vessels.

Looking from biobed to biobed however at those laying
upon them, it was soon clear to him that Lieutenant
Angeletti was not amongst them a did indeed seem to
missing...

Walking towards one of the nurses however, T`Vhor
attracted her attention once she had finished dealing

"We can discuss this in depth later if you wish, but

authorised to reinstate you imediately to active duty

agreeance with that of course", he added almost as an
afterthought.

(Reply Korak)

"From your service record, I note that you have
extensive operations training", said T`Vhor.

(Reply Korak)

"We lost our Strategic Operations officer when we were

wish it".

"The arrangements will be made shortly & the

however feel free to look over the StratOps centre &

T`Vhor looked up from what he had been doing & gave an
uncustomary smile, it was always good to see the
Doctor, a man that was surely a dedication to duty
personified.

"Ah", said T`Vhor, "Andrew, yes......I did but you
needn`t have broken away from medical so soon, I am
aware that your busy", he added. "I really only wanted
an update on the situation in regards medical thus far
anyway", said T`Vhor.

The Doctor then began a detailed rundown of the events
from sickbay, T`Vhor interjecting only once to ask the
man if he wished to take a seat.

The news of the inevitable fatalities however was not
good & the mention of the one that had passed away in
sickbay hit a slight nerve in the CO as it was
mentioned.

"Who did we lose Andrew?", said the Captain fearful
that the name of their CEO might come up here, "I`ll
need to inform command & next of kin", said the
Captain solemly.

(Reply Williams)

"I`ll see to it as soon as I`m able", said T`Vhor

"And Lieutenant Angeletti?", said T`Vhor.

"Miss Angeletti is in isolation room one. When she

Doctor.

"I do not know how long she will be like this. We are

want to push any rapid treatment in case it causes any

"I see", said the Captain, clearly not liking what he
was hearing about the Acting CEO. "Keep me informed of
her progress Andrew, it`s never good to hear that one
of our own is in such a bad way", said T`Vhor.

The Doctor simply nodded in responce...

"On a happier note Mr H'chir is recovering nicely and
will soon be able to be discharged and Mr Rodriguez
has been discharged and is able to return to duty."

"That`s good", said T`Vhor with a nod, "the helm has
sorely missed the Lieutenant, it`ll be good to have
him back", he added. "Arrange with the Councillor to
meet again with Mr H'Chir, now that we have his
physical condition stable, let`s see about stabilising
that frayed mind of his also", said the Captain.

(Reply Williams)

"I`m certainly eager to know more of what is in the
mans mind, his apparent hatred of empaths & telepaphs
however seems to be an inevitable stumbling block",
said T`Vhor.

The Doctor couldn`t help but agree on that point, all
those that knew the Andorian were aware of that
anyway.

"I must mention that Mr Korak, Mr Guildford and Miss
Tagliani`s assistance during the last couple of hours
have been exemplary.", said the Doctor, frowning just
slightly at the last word as though thinking back to
those events in some way.

"Detail a report Andrew, I`ll make sure that any
credit due reaches the correct recipients", said the
Captain as the Doctor went on to explain about the
arrival of the enemy fatalities.

The Captain pondered that for a while, then he spoke
once again.

"Make a list of who they were, use their ID tags &
work with the survivors to identify any that might be
missing their tags", said the CO.

The doctor then made his excuses & stood to leave,
clearly his call to duty was beckoning once again as
he allowed his thoughts to return to those who needed
his care.

(USS Spectre - Ready room - CMO - Williams - 09:45)

"Who did we lose Andrew?", said the Captain fearful
that the name of their CEO might come up here, "I`ll
need to inform command & next of kin", said the
 Captain solemly.

Andrew glanced at his PADD. he hated doing this but it
was nessesary.

"From the marines we lost Private Peterson. the rest
I have not had a chance to find out. From the crew we
lost crewmen Jones, Simpson as well as Ensign
Philips."

"I`ll see to it as soon as I`m able", said T`Vhor
making a note in a PADD at his side. "Our other crew
casualties, how are they doing?", he added.

"From the crew side we have two critical both have
gone through major surgery and also appear to be
 recovering nicely."

"T`Vhor nodded at the news, it was good to hear they
were going to be ok anyway.

 "And Lieutenant Angeletti?", said T`Vhor.

"Miss Angeletti is in isolation room one. When she
arrived in sickbay she was suffering from major
burns. At the moment she is in a comatose state", said the
 Doctor.

"I do not know how long she will be like this. We
are slowly treating her burns but she has also sustained
some head trauma and damage to her lungs. I do not
want to push any rapid treatment in case it causes
any unforeseen side effects. So at the moment it is a
waiting game to see what happens.", he added.

"I see", said the Captain, clearly not liking what
he was hearing about the Acting CEO. "Keep me informed
of her progress Andrew, it`s never good to hear that
one of our own is in such a bad way", said T`Vhor.

The Doctor simply nodded in responce...

"On a happier note Mr H'chir is recovering nicely
and will soon be able to be discharged and Mr Rodriguez
has been discharged and is able to return to duty."

"That`s good", said T`Vhor with a nod, "the helm has
sorely missed the Lieutenant, it`ll be good to have
him back", he added. "Arrange with the Councillor to
meet again with Mr H'Chir, now that we have his
physical condition stable, let`s see about
stabilising that frayed mind of his also", said the Captain.

"Yes sir I will."

"I`m certainly eager to know more of what is in the
mans mind, his apparent hatred of empaths &
telepaphs however seems to be an inevitable stumbling block",
 said T`Vhor.

The Doctor couldn`t help but agree on that point,
all those that knew the Andorian were aware of that
 anyway.

"I must mention that Mr Korak, Mr Guildford and Miss

me I'll get on to it now."

(USS Spectre, Bridge, ACSO Ensign (JG) Kenneth McKenzie, 09:46 hours)

Kenny was studing the control panel to which he was working on. He was trying to gather information on the planet, Tranome Sar. So far, all he could come up with was that it was in the Romulan Star Empire, that is was lightly populated with a few small Romulan cites and that there was a battle between the Romulans and the Klingons there a while back, but that was it... There was not much to say about Tranome Sar, really.

He began to look farther into the files. He brought up a map of the planet on his control panel. On the black background, the small, mostly green and brown planet rotated so Kenny could see it from all sides. A few lines where pointing to the major cities of the planet. They were very small. None of which where bigger than Edinburgh.

NRPG; Just so you know, Edinburgh is one of the smallest capitals in Europe. That's how damn small it is! Hehe

RPG;

He also saw that most of the cites, in fact, ALL of the cites, where producing something. Some near the water where farming cities. Others, located in mountains, where mining cities. Every city seem to make something of value. Kenny guessed that these cities most liky traded what they make with the other cities, which would explain how they might earn profit.

This was all the info he could dig up on the planet... All he had to do now was download it onto a PADD and take it to T'Vhor.

(USS Spectre - Bridge - CO T'Vhor - 09:49)

Walking out onto the bridge, the CO was in a pensive
mood. It seemed though that most of the repairs were
now being finalised & for that the crew deserved much
praise.

Looking towards the Science station however, the
Captain was imediately aware of Ensign McKenzie
working at one of the consoles & he quickly made his
way over there.

"Ensign McKenzie, how are we doing on that requested
information?", said T`Vhor.

(Reply McKenzie)

T`Vhor nodded as McKenzie gave his brief rundown of
the situation regarding Tranome Sar, then he took the
offered PADD containing a more detailed breakdown.

The Captain looked it over quickly, noting as he did
so that there really wasn`t that much to be gleened
other than what he himself already knew.

At that point in time however, the TAC/SC approached &
asked for permission to leave the bridge in order to
pursue an investigation of H'Chir & Korak`s shuttle.
The Captain nodded his agreeance & watched the
security chief disappear through the turbolift doors,
then he turned his attention back to Ensign McKenzie
as he continued to scrutinize the data on the PADD.

"I`ll need to have Mr Castigan look this over later,
perhaps he might be able to enlighten us somewhat",
said T`Vhor.

(Reply McKenzie, IYW)

T`Vhor gave a cursory glance about the bridge, his
brow furrowing slightly as though something were on
his mind, then he turned again to McKenzie.

"If you have nothing that needs to be attended to here

may require your expertise with the shuttles
datalogs", he added.

(USS Spectre - Bridge, Science 2 - TAC/SC Yelena
Vasilyovna - 09:51)

With the ACSO currently engaged in stripping info from
the enemy vessels computer core & the Acting Chief
Science officer otherwise indisposed, Yelena had
virtual free rein of the console at science two.

With the help of Ensign Teq, one of the duty science
officers, she had already ascertained that three
undisclosed & unauthorised transmissions had indeed
left the Spectre, although it was impossible to say at
this moment in time exactly where they had emanated
from or how.

Yelena had narrowed them down to highly discrete, low
power E-band emmisions, one of which had occured
within fifteen minutes of the time logged for their
meeting with the two mercenary warships. The others
were both indiscriminate & uncoordinated to any event
that had so far occured.

With this new information in mind, Yelena began
thinking about the shuttle H'Chir & Korak had arrived
on & wondered wether anything could have been hidden
within it either with or without either of their
knowledge, she was just about to head down there to
examine it thoroughly when her combadge chirped into
life.

=/\=Dr Williams to Miss Vasilyovna=/\=

"What can I do for you Doctor?". said Yelena.

"Sorry to bother you Miss Vasilyovna. Commander T'Vhor
has allowed me to transport over to the enemy vessel
but not without a security escort. Do you have any
one available at the moment?", said Williams.

"I`m sure that can be arranged Doctor Williams, I`ll
see to it imediately", said Vasilyovna.

=/\=Thank you I'll be waiting in transport room

Yelena made the CO aware of her intentions regarding
the shuttle & requested permission to leave the
bridge, then she reached up to her combadge to open a
channel to security.

"Vasilyovna to Ensign Davies", said Yelena.

=/\=Davies here sir=/\=

"A little escort duty for you Ensign", said Yelena,
"Doctor Williams is going over to the enemy vessel,
the CO has ordered that he doesn`t do so
alone.....with that in mind, the Doctor is waiting for
you in transporter room one", she added.

=/\=Understood sir, I`m on it, Davies out=/\=

to face the doors as they slid shut to obscure her
prior view of the bridge.

Anyway, I was able to find oot that it's a Class-M, mostly green and pleasant, Lot's of mountains, water, clean air. Kinda like a smaller version of Earth. Nae meany citys on it. Walking through the doors & into shuttle bay two,
Yelena took stock of the damage caused to the shuttle
that H'Chir & Korak had arrived in. For a moment she
just stood there, then she slowly began walking around
it`s periphery noting it`s registry marks & the
darkened area covering it`s name.

At first it was a little difficult to make it out
Vi....ugo, then it became clearer as she aproached.

The scorch marks from the disruptor blasts were still
in evidence on the Victor Hugo`s port nacelle & it`s
rear aspect. It was clear that it had taken a
battering in it`s run from the Romulans, it was
surprising it had even got here in one piece.

The outside however was not where she would find any
answers so after walking towards the access door, she
pressed at the actuator set into the hull & the door
swung out & up to allow her to enter the small craft.

As she stepped up & into it`s interior however, the
sound of the hanger bay doors opening behind her
imediately caused her to turn about, a puzzled look

(Enemy Vessel - Bridge - MXO Major Bruce Kowalski - 09:59)

The arrival of the Doctor & one of the Spectres
security men kinda broke the monotony of the never
changing vista in the viewscreen of the enemy vessel.
To be truthful it was good to see a new face as the
Doctor approached the MXO who stood from his chair
appropriately as the Doctor addressed him.

"Major Kowalski. Thank you for letting us on board.
I'll try and not get in your way. I hope this is just
a number error.", said Williams.

"A number error uh, yeah I hope so to Doc", said
Kowalski with a half forced smile fixed upon his
battle hardened features. "So who exactly is
unaccounted for", he added as Williams quickly handed
him the PADD he had brought with him containing the
relevant information.

The MXO scrutinized it`s contents for a while, then he
glanced up at the Doctor once again before returning
his attention to the list.

"Zachary, Mac....er I mean MacDougal & Taupin", said
the MXO reading off the names of those missing as he
scratched at his head in thought.

"I saw Zachary just now in the Galley, MacDougal was
with Bowie in Engineering & Taupin...... ummm, where
the hell is Taupin?", said Kowalski turning to one of
the marines standing nearby.

The marine simply shrugged his shoulders & looked to
one of his comrades.

"He was working with Elliot on shoring up the breach
point sir, as far as I`m aware they completed the
repair the moment the Trojan left", said the marine
corporal nearby.

The MXO looked from one man to the other in the hope
that someone would know where the missing marine was,
then realising that silence prevailed & nothing was
coming forwards he took a deep breath & tapped at his
marine communicator.

"Kowalski to Taupin.... respond please, are you there
soldier...... haul ass now", said the MXO. The only
thing that came back however was silence.

"Kowalski to Master sergeant Bowie", said Kowalski
abruptly changing tact now.

(Reply Bowie)

"Is Taupin with you?", said the MXO curtly.

"Well have you seen him, has anyone seen him?", said

"Could be a malfunctioning communicator, nothing more

"Understood, Kowalski out", said Kowalski as he turned

"Well, if he`s here he`ll be found & if he`s in a Targ

Kowalski as one of the marines laughed behind him at
the MXO`s choice of words.

"What was that soldier!!", shouted Kowalski, "did I
hear you laughing at another mans expence!"

"Umm, no sir, nothing wrong sir, just a little wind

marines eyes with venomous intent.

"I`ll give you wind soldier, wind you would never

pleasant smile as he did so.

"So.... I was saying Doc, if the mans here we`ll find

(Enemy Vessel - Corridor near Main Engineering - Forward Assault Squad
CO - Master Sergeant Scott Bowie - 10.03)

Bowie and a two-man fireteam were making a patrol of the Engineering
Deck, to make sure that there were no Tags, or whatever those damned
Klingon dogs were called, on this deck... HIS deck. They had just
patrolled 50% of it when they got a call from the MXO.

=/\= Kowalski to Master sergeant Bowie, =/\= Kowalski said.

"Yes, sir?" Bowie asked, stopped in the corridor, his two Marines,
without any orders being said, immediately took up positions covering
up
and down both ways of the corridor.

=/\= Is Taupin with you?, =/\= Kowalski asked. His voice sounded
annoyed.

"No, sir. Privates Stewart and Bates are currently on patrol with me,"
Bowie replied.

=/\= Well have you seen him, has anyone seen him? =/\= Kowalski asked.

"He was apart of the initial detail of my men that escorted those
Engineering pukes to Main Engineering. Once Engineering was secure, a
portion of them left to regroup with other squads through out the ship.
I assumed Taupin was one of them," Bowie explained.

=/\= Find him, send Stewart & Bates, I wanna know where the man is now,
this is a finite vessel Bowie just how far could the man go, =/\= The
MXO said gruffly.

Bowie made a few quick hand signals, and Stewart and Bates stood up and
started moving opposite directions down the corridor. Once they were
far
enough away to be out of ear shot, "Do you think a tango nabbed him,
sir?" Bowie asked.

=/\= Could be a malfunctioning communicator, nothing more but I want it
checked out, =/\= Kowalski replied.

"If anybody will find him, sir, it'll be my men," Bowie replied.

=/\= Understood, Kowalski out, =/\= he said, and the channel closed.
Bowie brought up a holographic display of this deck inside his Pallas
helmet, searching for comm signals. His own, in the center of the
display. Stewart and Bates moving east and west of his position,
searching every room. Most of them were condensed in Main Engineering,
the Engineering types, with a few other signals patrolling the
immediate
area around Engineering, the perimeter guards. Nothing else.

Bowie switched to life-sign sensors, and all the dots now changed to
pulsing dots. Stewart and Bates' dots were pulsing fast, they must be
excited about Taupin being missing. One of the engineering officer's
signal was pulsing fast, must be uncomfortable about being in this
situation.
Suddenly, in one room, was fading signal, pulsing, but slowly. ~Like
its dying!~ Bowie thought.

On double-time, he hustled down the corridor, cutting the corners at
high jogging speed, and finally reaching the door with the room. He
cleared his Pallas HUD and brought his Mk II rifle to ready. He moved
slowly towards the door and it slid open. He dived in and looked about.

It was an Engineering Support Station. Empty. No bodies, no cargo
crates, and no Marines. Bowie called out to be sure, "Hoorah? Any
jarheads in here?"

No reply. Bowie brought up his Pallas life-sign display. The signal was
weak, and still in this room. He was confused. This whole ship was
scanned for any life signs. This had to be one of their people, but why
weren't they here....

~Unless, they were on the deck above or below him. That would explain
why it's so weak!~ Bowie thought, getting excited. He turned to the
door
when suddenly the 'dot' disappeared completed. Not in a fashion has if
the lifeform succumbed to injury. More like it was shot.

No! Not shot, suicide. ~No Marine would take their own life... or would
they?~ Bowie thought, however, he didn't think about it, he left the
room and set off for the turbolift to investigate the cause of these
signals.

Kenny entered shuttle bay two and saw why he had been sent down to help Lt. Vasilyovna; A damaged shuttle, which he asumed to be the shutle that H'Chair had come back in, along with that Vulcan agent guy.

As he walked in, he saw somone standing in the doorway of the shuttle. He saw that it was Lt. Vasilyovna.

"The Captain sent me doon tae give ye some help. What
dae ye want me tae de?, Lt.?", said McKenzie.

The Security Chief stepped down from the shuttle to
acknowledge McKenzie`s arrival, his manner of speech
however had often left Yelena confused but then again
who was she to remark on that, some of the crew often
got stuck on some of her own linguistic nuances also.

Yelena assumed though that he was asking her what she
wanted him to do so she quickly ushered him over.

"You could start on the logs I guess", said Yelena
noticing that he had brought a tricorder with him. "I
need a complete rundown on the shuttles service
schedule & maintenance records, also where it went &
what it encountered since it departed Betazed", said
Vasilyovna.

(Reply McKenzie)

"Basicly I`m checking the shuttle out for anything
that is here that shouldn`t be, specifically covert
devices capable of any form of transmission", she
added.

(Reply McKenzie)

"My bet would be that there is probably nothing here
but I need to be sure", said Yelena.

"As you know someone seems to be one step ahead of us
lately, Ensign Guildford is checking Mr Castigan & his
quarters over for covert devices but a question still
remains in regards this shuttle", she added as she
stepped up into the cabin with McKenzie close behind.

"Please continue Ensign", said Yelena motioning with
her hand to the cabin controls. "I`ll be performing a
visual inspection internally & externally for anything
suspicious to start with", she added as she proceeded
to do just that.

Reaching up into one of the aft storage compartments,
Vasilyovna removed the small set of diagnostic tools
most shuttles carried with them, then crouching down
upon the deck she opened up the access panel feeding
the transmitter array & put the system into diagnostic
test mode.

A series of indicators flashed as she did this & the
Computer reported that diagnostics were now enabled.

Yelena pushed the probe of one of the tools into an
ODN port & then operated the retrieval system
accordingly.

"Computer, run a level three diagnostic on the
shuttles transmission protocol subassembly, report any
anomolous readings", said Yelena.

[Beginning level three diagnostics on the required
subsystems & their associated pathways....diagnostics
will complete in eight minutes fifty three seconds]

The security chief then looked over at Ensign McKenzie
as he worked upon the retrival of the logs.

"You might want to look into any protected logs also
Ensign, especially any that are marked as externally
locked", said Yelena.

(Reply McKenzie)

Vasilyovna then turned her attention back to the panel
she was working on.

"So, your from Scotland?", said Yelena in an attempt
to relieve the monotony of waiting for diagnotics to
complete.

(Reply McKenzie)

"I visited the highlands once with my grandfather",
said Yelena, "a beautiful place, in my own country we
have beautiful places also, sometimes I like to
recreate them in the holodeck for relaxation
purposes", she added. "Perhaps you also do this"

(Reply McKenzie)

"I am not familiar with the battles of old", said the
Security chief, "history has recorded many pointless &
bloody battles in Russia, they are times I would
rather leave where they belong....in the past I feel",
she added as the computer began reporting on it`s
previous diagnostic.

[All systems conform to established protocols, there
is a point four intolerance in the subspace
transmitter array but it is within layed down

"Oh well, that looks fine then", said Yelena as she
shifted the probe of the diagnostic tool to the second
ODN port before connecting it via a one way shunt to a
tricorder.

"Computer, access all logged transmissions from the
shuttle & download to the logical ODN storage device
at location one", said Vasilyovna.

Yelena sighed aloud.

"So, why exactly were the Scottish actually fighting

As Lt. Vasilyovna walked into the shuttle, Kenny followed her. As he walked inside, he saw that the shuttle was badly damaged. A large burn mark was over one of the warp nacelles, the other was missing entirely. He walked over to one of the control pannels at the back of the shuttle and sat down at the chair, placing his science pack on top of the console. He touched a button with turned on the panel. He brought up the logs of the ship and it's flight trajectory so he could discover what the ship had been through. He took a PADD from his science pack and placed it on his knees.

"Aye, Ballachulish tae be precice. It's a small town in the Highlands."

"I visited the Highlands once with my grandfather. A beautiful place. In my own country, we have beautiful places also, sometimes, I like to recreate them in the holodeck for relaxation purposes. Perhaps you also do this"

"Aye, but I prefer holodeck battles. Mostly of Scotland's history battling the English, but I also like battles during the Secound World War. One of my favourites is the Battle of Stalingrad. Being Russian, I'm sure you know it. I mostly play the Russians when I do that one, but I have played the German's on some occactions. Very primitive weapons on both sides, but they are great to use. Heh. I am fascinated with Earth's history. Mostly of weapons and great battles. You might not find it relaxing, but I do. Sure, their violent and I even play them un-edited. I always keep the blood and gore on. Makes it seem so real. Makes most people sick, but I love it. I like to take my anger out in these battles. Heh."

"Och, it were tea dae over indepenance. During Earth's 12th Century, England wanted tae extend it's borders and conquer other nations. They had already taken Wales, parts of Northern France and started to invade Ireland, Scotland was next. Of course, we did not just give in, so for years the Scottish battled, winning and losing battles. But, sadly, in the end, Scotland was taken over. For over 300 years, Scotland was under the control of the English, until 2012 when we gained independace by voting! What a great day. I heard there where parades in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen! The leader of the Scottish National Party, (SNP) Alex Sammond became Scotland's very first independant "First Minister". singlehandedly took out more than a hundred German

"Da, the story is still told to our children today of

added proudly.

(Reply McKenzie)

"And now we are here fighting a common enemy once more

"Computer, scan for any traces of interference in any

[Scanning......there are no signs of interfence in any

Yelena closed her eyes & breathed deeply, she was

Bowie stalked down the corridor alone until he came to the door where
the faint life sign had appeared moments ago before disappearing
suddenly. Bowie drew his rifle to and aimed at the door. Finally, he
rushed in and was amazed at what he saw.

It was an Engineering Support Room, has the one on the above deck,
however, a small damping field generator was here, running in
auto-diagnostic mode, which would account for the disappearing life
signs.

An enemy was here, knocked out from the sleeping gas injected into the
ship by the Marines. Piece of the Marine BDU were next to him, and next
to that, was a tortured Private Taupin. Bowie gave the BDU a quick look
over, the comm device had been smashed to bits, which would explain why
it wasn't picked up.

Bowie opened a channel, "Bowie to Kowalski. I've located Taupin. It
appears a tango caught him and removed his BDU and tortured him a bit
before the knock-out gas got him. Both the enemy and Taupin are alive,
although Taupin isn't well," he said.

he looked over to Ensign Davies who was still with
him.

"Mr Davies. I might need a little help if that's
okay?"

Andrew nodded and turned back to the marine.

"My name is Doctor Williams. I am going to repair your

He gave a friendly smile and opened his med kit. He
placed it on a trolley be side him.

"Mr Davies could you grab me the trauma kit beside you

"That's it great."

He took a hypospray and filled it with strong pain
killers.

Upon entering sickbay, the Doctor imediately made the
aquaintence of the marines therein as he explained who
he was & what he was doing there. It was a formality
of course for the MXO had already informed them that
he was coming down anyway.

One of the marines remarked on the doctor being a
little young, Davies thought it a strange responce
since what the hell did it matter how young or old the
Doctor looked, he had taken the time to tend their
wounded & so long as he was qualified to do so old or
young was quite irrelavent.

The Doctor jousted with the marine medic for a short
while about this & then after being shown the casualty
he imediately set to work as Davies stood by.

"Mr Davies. I might need a little help if that's
okay?", said Williams without even looking up at the
man as he worked diligently on his patient.

"Of course", said Davies, "this isn`t going to get
messy is it", he added. "I mean I`m not much use if
you want me to do anything inside someone", said
Davies.

The Doctor simply shook his head in disbelief & then
turned to the injured marine.

"My name is Doctor Williams. I am going to repair your
fracture and treat your wounds.", said Williams as he
opened his medical kit & placed it beside him.

"Mr Davies could you grab me the trauma kit beside you
and get me the cellular regenerator.", said the
Doctor.

Ensign Davies looked about him uncertain as to what
the Doctor actually wanted, then he delved into the
kit & pulled the first thing he thought might be the
object in question.

"That's it great.", said Williams as he extended his
hand to take it from the security officer whilst
filling a hypospray with pain killing drugs.

"This is going to help with the pain.", said the
Doctor as he placed the tip of the hypospray onto the
marines neck & pressed the actuator to almost
imediately soften the marines pain filled expression
as the drug took hold.

"Okay Mr Davies I need you to hold the leg still and
in line as I repair the fracture ends.", said
Williams.

Davies approached the injured man & tried his best to
do precisely what the Doctor required as he showed him
where to hold the leg, albeit nervously lest he did
something to make things worse. Then he watched as the
Doctor worked his usual magic.

to patrol the perimeter of the room. Finally the call came to return to
the Spectre.

=/\= Bowie, gather your team & have them report to the hanger bay,
Lieutenant Major Savage has transported over & is now en route to the
bridge, once he is here he will formerly take command of this vessel &
initiate proceedings for the transit to Starbase 39-Sierra, =/\=
Kowalski said.

"Got it. We're on our way out," he said, gesturing to his Marines who
were remaining.

=/\= Understood, one more thing Bowie....we DID get all those damn
Targs
didn`t we? =/\=

Bowie smiled inside his Pallas helmet, "I sure hope so, boss," he said
with a smile. Lt. Major Savage wasn't well liked among some of the
Marines.

=/\= Savage would be none to pleased if one of those little hairballs
lived up to his name & savaged his ass. =/\=

"Shall I sweep the ship for more Targs, sir?" he asked.

=/\= Doesn`t bear thinking about, you know what the Lieutenant Major is
like. But anyway, it`s getting close to zulu, time to make tracks...
Kowalski out, =/\= he said and the channel cut. Bowie and his team
moved out in formation and headed to the turbolift.

Scott Bowie - 10.44)

Bowie and his four Marines entered the bay and formed a line and waited
for Kowalski to arrive so they could go back to the Spectre. A few more
Marines filed in. "You hear that this ship is a Prometheus class?" one
of them said on their way in.

"Bullsh*t," Bowie said, "It ain't," he said.

"Nah, there was some science geek-type over here playing on the
computer. Said its a 'Fleet ship," the Marine explained.

"Well, I'll be damned," Bowie said, and pondered that while they waited
for the rest of the Marines to arrive.

(Enemy Vessel - Hanger bay - MXO Major Bruce Kowalski
- 10:50)

Talk about a willingness to leave or what, the ship
might be ominously black & inately depressing but it
wasn`t that bad surely.

The engines of the Trojan however were already fired
up in readiness when the MXO walked into the hanger
deck to meet up with those already assembled there.
Some were seated around checking their equipment,
others were chatting idly amongst themselves about
whatever occupied their thoughts at the time, all
however rose to attention the moment the MXO walked
in.

"Ok girls n boys", said Kowalski, "time to haul our
marine butts back to the Spectre & the warm, caring
heart of our beloved Lt colonel Krige", said Kowalski
with a smile, "well apart from those of you not
wearing marine uniform of course", he added with a
wink.

"Although I guess you`ll all go back to the warm
caring heart of your beloved CO as well", said
Kowalski.

"But I digress ladies & gentleman of the 52nd fleet,
it is indeed time to depart this wonderful vessel &
forthwith return our hallowed asses home again", he
added as he extended his hand out towards the awaiting
Trojan.

"Please....after you", said the MXO with a somewhat
comical bow to indicate that they should all now board
the transport, which they duly did. The MXO then
looked around the hanger deck one more time before
stepping up into the transport himself as the
loading hatch swung up & closed.

The pilot quickly requested clearance to launch & then
once it was given, they were spaceborne once again as
the Trojan slipped from the ship like a well oiled
projectile to begin it`s short journey back to the
invisibly cloaked Spectre.

It took only seconds of flight before they reached
it`s approximate location, wherapons the pilot
transmitted a coded pulse to indicate it`s arrival.

The Spectre then became briefly visible, it`s dropship
bay doors opening in responce to allow them entry
before it cloaked into nothingness once again.

They were home....

(USS Spectre - Sickbay - CMO - Williams - 10:59)

Andrew walked into sickbay. he had thanked Ensign
Davies for joining him on the ship and left Jo heading
off to the Armoury with some of the marines. He placed
his medkit on the table beside the doors and went over
to the replicator.

"One extra strong Raktajino."

He took the drink and drank it. He smiled as the
caffeine whizzed around his system.

He looked at Marshal as he headed for isolation room
one.

"Any change while I've been out?"

She shook her head.

"We've treated her wounds. She's stable."

Andrew nodded.

"Where is Douwsy?"

"She is with her at the moment. Were are taking it in
turns to give her some company."

Andrew nodded. He realised that even though Angeletti
probably could not hear them it probably helped him
and the others just to be doing some thing. At the
moment he could not do anything medically for her
apart from monitor her for signs of change.

He entered the room and saw Douwsy had fallen asleep
in the chair. He crossed over to her and shook her
gently.

"Go and get a drink with Marshal. You've both had a
hectic morning. I'll stay for a bit."

Douwsy reluctantly nodded and quietly walked out.
Andrew sat in the chair.

"Hallo Miss Angeletti. Its Andrew again. I've just
popped into see how you are doing."

He smiled to him self. He never though talking to a
comatose patient would be this difficult.

"Well since your going to be here for a bit I'll tell
you what has happened."

~Better then my life story. She'll probably wake up
and run away~

he took a sip of his Raktajino.

"Well first off your in sickbay but you probably new
that already. Engineering is okay so don't worry Miss
Chenoll is running it while your here."

Andrew smiled him self as he began relating what had
happened to him in the last few hours.

She felt mixed emotions about putting away the gear.
On the one hand she was happy to be back on the

she was going back to being SFI agent and not the
marine she use to be.

She looked at the marine beside her who was putting
away his Angel firearm.

"Fun wasn't it." she grinned at him.

He turned to her with a frown and then smiled.

"Most people would not call that fun but yes. it beats
sitting on out butts all day."

Jo grinned. She knew that feeling.

"Agent Smith some of use are going to ten forward to

(USS Spectre - Bridge - CO T`Vhor - 11:00)

Once the Marines & the away crews had finally reported
their arrival back on board, the Captain imediately
headed out onto the bridge to take the centre chair
once more, then turning to the helm officer, he began
issuing his orders.

"Helm, set course heading to one ninety mark two zero
four", said T`Vhor, "Ensign Liakan, signal the enemy
vessel that we are preparing to leave the system", he
added adressing the tactical officer.

(Reply Liakan)

"Open a channel to Lieutenant Major Savage", said the
Captain & within a moment or two the viewscreen filled
with the image of Savage seated in the command chair
nonchallantly addressing one of the bridge crew behind
him....

=/\=Never mind that, when I say I want it done this
way I want it.....=/\=

Savage paused as he realised that the comms were now
open & then he turned abruptly to the viewscreen
looking like a feline caught in the beam of a land
based vehicle. He was supposed to be in control now &
there he was verbally chastising one of the bridge
crew over something or other.

=/\=Oh, sorry sir, I was um...I was. Sir the ship is
ready for departure, course is layed in & we are
awaiting the word to go to warp=/\=

T'Vhor raised an eyebrow at the mans remarks & general
unease, the word was he was not that well liked
amongst the marines, there always was one & T`Vhor had
come across many in his time. He was however the best
man for the job irrespective, & command abilities were
indeed not dependant upon being liked.

"Understood Lieutenant Major", said T`Vhor, "Starbase
39-Sierra has been alerted to your arrival, a support
vessel will rendevouz with you & escort you in upon
your entry in the system", he added.

=/\=Aye sir, god speed & good hunting to you=/\=, said
Savage as he reached to the armrest controls on the
command chair.

"Safe journey Lieutenant Major", said T`Vhor as the
channel was closed & the viewscreen vista returned to
that of the Mercenary vessel, her warp nacelles now
glowing with photonic energy once more as she veered
off steadily to the right before engaging warp in a
blur of light.

The Captain then turned to the First Officer seated
beside him.

"You have the bridge Mr Rogers, engage for Tranome Sar

(USS Spectre - Deck Fourteen - MXO Major Bruce
Kowalski - 11:05)

The sudden lurch in the Spectre as it went to warp
took the MXO by surprise, normally the SIF & the IDF
would have compensated for the jump to warp & the
transition would have been virtually undetectable.

~Must be something still not quite right~

Walking out through the dropship bay doors & into the
coriddor however, Kowalski was suitably glad to be
back again, the enemy vessel was morose & he was glad
to see the back of the damned thing.

"You owe me... I won the damn bet", said a marine
private as the MXO walked around the corner to see two
marines leaning against the wall discussing something
or other.

Kowalski stopped imediately as the two marines came to
attention.

"Sir", they shouted as they both saluted the senior
officer accordingly.

"Bet?", said Kowalski, "What`s all this about a bet?"

"Nothing sir, just a small wager sir", said the marine
private.

"And the wager won you what exactly?", said Kowalski.

"One half of Corporal Silas`s grog ration sir", said
the marine.

Kowalski narrowed his eyes slightly & then raised an
eyebrow as he looked to both of the men in turn as
they shifted uncomfortably under his gaze.

"I see", said the MXO, "and the wager was based on
what?", he added.

"The likelihood that Savage would be bitten by a Targ
before he reached the bridge of the enemy vessel sir",
said the marine.

"I assume you mean Lieutenant Major Savage", said the
MXO emphasising the mans rank as he did so.

"Yes sir, sorry sir, Lieutenant Major Savage sir",
said the marine.

The MXO wanted to smile but thought it best that he
didn`t, he just looked at the two men & then nodded.

"What are the odds on him making it to Starbase
39-Sierra unharmed?", said Kowalski.

The two men looked to one another again & smiled
slightly in responce to the MXO`s question.

"Well?", said Kowalski.

"Sir, sorry sir, the odds are nine to one against
sir", said one of the marines, at which the MXO nodded
once more.

"Put me down for a hundred that he doesn`t reach home
unscathed", said Kowalski, "and an extra twenty
against it actually being Targ inflicted", he added
as he headed off down the coriddor smiling.

"Yes sir", said the marines as they allowed themselves
a final laugh.

"If there is then it must be pretty recent", said

"Various colonies have indeed been settling there I

a 1st platoon to reinforce B Company of the 3rd Combat
engineers who were fortifying a position. We got
dropped in by a Tarawa. Which was hit by fire on final
approach. We lost a whole squad in the crash and lost
all our comms with it. Our only hope was to get to the
comm system in the fortification which was only about
20 clicks ahead. As we approached we heard screaming
and weapons fire. We double timed it and spread out
into fire teams. We found this poor marine. not more
than your age."

Jo nodded to the drunk marine.

"He was covered in blood and screaming like a madman.
He was yelling about creatures from the dark coming to
get him. The corpsman sedated him and we carried on.
Arrived at the fortification and began to come under
fire from some enemies in side the defences. It was
getting dark and our scanners were malfunctioning, so
we hunkered down and waited for the morning. There was
lots of yelling and screaming during the night. We
could never get a position or numbers of them but when
the sun came up seven were missing."

Jo took another sip.

"When we finally stormed the fortification. There was
nothing there. No enemies no 3rd Combat Engineers and
we never found our missing men."

Jo was the drunk marine sway.

"That's total b*****ks." said the marine as he slid of his
chair and collapsed on to the floor.

Jo grinned.

"That may be true private but I was there."

(USS Spectre - Security - TAC/SC Yelena Vasilyovna -
11:30)

Seating herself at one of the consoles in security,
Yelena downloaded all of the recently recovered
transmission logs from the Victor Hugo into the
Spectre`s computer core. She anticipated that this
was`nt going to be a quick job now so with that in
mind, she walked to the replicator nearby & ordered a
hot beverage.

"Coffee, Columbian, sweetened", said Yelena & the
machine whirred into life until her required mug of
coffee had arrived in the reception bay beneath.

She took a quick sip of her drink as she picked it up,
then she returned to the console to sit down & begin.

"Computer, replay all transmissions from the Victor
Hugo, chronological order, include visual feed where
available", said the security chief.

[Beginning playback...first transmission stardate
2407.01.14 Time 09:36]

The screen then showed the face of an unknown Male,
possibly Bajoran dressed in what looked like service
or maintenance clothing as he operated the console
before him. Yelena watched it for a short while,
noting what he was doing as she did so, but it soon
became clear that he was simply running diagnostics on
the transmission array.

"Computer, disregard standard scheduled maintenance
transmissions, fast forward to the next log conforming
to aforementioned data", said Yelena. The computer
beeped to signal acknowledgement & then it continued
on with the playback announcing the new stardate as
2407.01.19

The screen of the console now showed the face of the
man they had come to know as Korak in an apparent
state of angst, clearly the shuttle was under attack &
Korak was shouting commands back at an Andorian male
behind him. The Andorian`s face was not visible at
this time but common sence stated that it was
obviously H'Chir.

The playback continued, garbling at times due to EM
interference caused by what was quite clearly ground
fire exploding nearby the shuttle as it assended into
the air. One of the panels within the shuttle exploded
in a shower of sparks & H'Chir quickly rushed towards
it to extinguish it as Korak wrestled with the
controls of the shuttle to keep them airborne.

"He`s here, he`s in my head!", cried H'Chir as he
grabbed at his temples in pain & fell to his knees on
the decking. "NOOOOOOO!", he cried as Korak looked
back in a clearly frustrated but nonetheless
controlled manner.

It was obvious he wished to help the suffering
Andorian but the present situation prevented him from
doing so. All of his attention now was focused on
simply keeping them both alive & achieving orbit, once
they had left the confines of the atmosphere they
could jump to warp & imediately increase their odds.
It was then though that the transmission ended & the
computer moved on to the next log in succession.

Yelena took another sip of her coffee & got herself
comfortable in her seat as the playback began again,
she was looking for anything that might give her a
lead & also anything that might explain the arrival of
the lifeform they had recovered from the port intake
of the shuttle.

It was going to take some time, Yelena knew that but
if the clues were there, she would find them.

as they left the bridge, clearly something of note had
gone down but of course nobody even knew what that
might be, some however had made their own assumptions
already.

"Conn, maintain present speed & heading until ordered
otherwise", said the Captain.

(Reply Rodriguez)

"Inform me of any changes imediately, you have the
bridge Lieutenant Nollys", said T`Vhor as he walked
into his ready room followed by the First Officer.

Nollys nodded appropriately & then moved to the centre
chair as another Science officer moved to occupy her
now vacant station.

(USS Spectre - Bridge - FO - Lt. Brian Rogers - 11.52)

Things were going typically as they were en route to find the
President, however, soon a report came in of a assassination from Nequencia Alpha
system. Rogers suddenly hoped that it wasn't Nell, T'Vhor turned to
him.

"Nequencia Alpha? It can`t be, it`s too far off from the disclosed
location," he said.

"Yes, but the President could-" he was cut off by T'Vhor.

"Not here Lieutenant," he turned to the tactical officer and gave some
orders, before heading towards his Ready Room, calling Castigan there.
The crew looked confused, and T'Vhor gave a few orders, and then Rogers
assumed T'Vhor wanted him to follow, and followed the man into the
ready room.

(USS Spectre - Captain`s ready room - CO T`Vhor &
Presidential Aide Unaru Castigan - 12:00)

The Captain was now seated in his chair at the table,
Castigan was opposite him, his expression one of
concern at the news that had just been imparted to
him.

"It isn`t Nell", he said even though his face still
betrayed the fear that it actually might be. "His
destination is Tranome Sar, Nequencia Alpha is the
other way entirely, it`s one of the double`s, it has
to be", said Castigan as he paced back & forth
agitatedly in front of the desk.

The First Officer of course remained neutral at this
point, he seemed to feel it best to let Castigan work
through the logistics in his head before he added his
own input, the Captain however needed that input now.

"Lieutenant Rogers, what are your views on this?",
said T`Vhor. "bearing in mind of course the loss of
time we would incur if we change course now & head for
the Nequencia Alpha system, only to find that
President Nell is alive & well on Tranome Sar", he
added.

(Reply Rogers)

The Captain nodded.

"If it is Nell then we`ll know soon enough, Admiral
Doenitz will be unlikely to be able to avoid gloating
over his success if he has succeeded in his
assassination of the real Nell", said T`Vhor.

(Reply Rogers, IYW)

"We have no choice, we must continue on our present
course Captain", said Castigan as he suddenly stopped
his pacing & turned to face T`Vhor, "I say disregard
the reports until we know for sure", he added his
voice still betraying his fear over the possibility
that their cause may now have failed.

T`Vhor nodded his affirmation.

"I concur", Said the Captain who quickly turned to the
FO once more.

"Maintain our present course, take the Spectre to warp
eight Mr Rogers, if the president is indeed still
alive & at Tranome Sar, time is now of the essence
more than ever before", said T`Vhor.

(Reply Rogers)

Castigan simply closed his eyes & breathed a sigh of
relief, his own thoughts were that Nell was still
alive of course & that his pre-arranged course had not
been deviated upon, he simply would not allow himself
to believe otherwise.

"Thank you Captain", said Castigan as he bowed his
head courtiously before moving towards the door.

"I will be in my quarters if you need me", said
Castigan as he left the room to the CO & FO
respectively.

The First Officer however, simply stood there for a
few moments, something was clearly on his mind.

"Lieutenant?", said T`Vhor quierying the FO`s
thoughts.

(Reply rogers)

"I personally do not believe that Nell has been
assasinated", said T`Vhor. "It is not logical that he
would be in the Nequencia Alpha system, it is
diametrically opposed to his last known wherabouts",
said T`Vhor, "only a decoy would take such a route".

(Reply Rogers)

"My previous order stands, maintain current heading,
increase speed to warp eight", said T`Vhor.

(USS Spectre - Morgue - CMO - Williams / Agent Smith
- 12.01)

Andrew was again standing in the morgue.

~stay here much longer and It'll feel like home~

He still felt dazed from what T'Vhor had said.

~second officer. I get another office~

He shook his head and glanced down at the PADD.

~okay every one is now here~

He looked over at the group of black torpedo casings.
sighed sadly.

"Sorry."

He heard the door open and saw Jo walk in.

He gave a smile.

"So the warrior returns. Hope you enjoyed the trip."

Jo smiled back.

"It was nice to see that I still had it in me."

Her smile went as she looked at the torpedo casings.

"So many!"

Andrew nodded.

"Yes. Marines were hit hard."

Jo nodded.

"How are you feeling about it?"

Andrew turned and faced her with a slight smile.

"I'm the doctor. I'm supposed to ask that question."

"What was that saying. Doctor heal thyself. so tell
me."

Andrew turned back and faced the torpedo casings.

"What do you expect me to feel. I'm a doctor. I am
supposed to save and preserve life."

~sometimes I wish I chose a different profession~

"There is only so much you can do your only human."

Andrew smiled slightly.

"May'be I should have been a Vulcan then. Far more
logical."

~I might not feel the loss as much~

"but far less fun."

Jo walked over and rested a hand in Andrew's shoulder.

"I've heard a rumour that you are the new second
officer. So come on lets go and see you new office."

Andrew nodded and placed the PADD on the table beside
him and followed Jo out.

(USS Spectre - Ready Room - FO - Lt. Brian Rogers - 12.03)

Rogers and T'Vhor were seated at the desk (albeit, at opposite sides)
and Mr. Castigan paced back and forth on Rogers' side.

"It isn`t Nell," he said, although he didn't look like he totally
believed it himself. "His destination is Tranome Sar, Nequencia Alpha
is
the other way entirely, it`s one of the double`s, it has to be,"
Castigan pleaded with himself.

Rogers turned to face T'Vhor when he addressed him, "Lieutenant Rogers,
what are your views on this? Bearing in mind of course the loss of time
we would incur if we change course now & head for the Nequencia Alpha
system, only to find that President Nell is alive & well on Tranome
Sar," T'Vhor asked.

"I suggest we continue course to Tranome Sar, captain. Doenitz' forces
will most likely do a deep-tissue DNA scan once they get the body back
to the ship. If it is Nell, well...." Rogers trailed off, and T'Vhor
continued his trail of thought.

"If it is Nell then we`ll know soon enough, Admiral Doenitz will be
unlikely to be able to avoid gloating over his success if he has
succeeded in his assassination of the real Nell." Rogers nodded in
agreement.

"We have no choice, we must continue on our present course Captain,"
Castigan replied, "I say disregard the reports until we know for sure,"
although it still seemed he feared his President was dead.

"I concur," T'Vhor said to Castigan, then turned to Rogers, "Maintain
our present course, take the Spectre to warp eight Mr Rogers, if the
president is indeed still alive & at Tranome Sar, time is now of the
essence more than ever before," T'Vhor said.

Rogers nodded, "Yes, sir."

Castigan released a deep sigh of relief, "Thank you, Captain. I will be
in my quarters if you need me," he said, and departed. Rogers stood up
and headed to the door, but then stopped and turned back to T'Vhor.

"Lieutenant?" the CO asked.

"Sir, although it is greatly improbable that it was President Nell who
was killed, it still is possible," Rogers said.

"I personally do not believe that Nell has been assassinated. It is not
logical that he would be in the Nequencia Alpha system, it is
diametrically opposed to his last known whereabouts. Only a decoy would
take such a route," T'Vhor said.

"Yes, sir," Rogers said. T'Vhor reminded him of the orders and Rogers
exited onto the bridge. Once on the bridge, Rogers gave out T'Vhor's
orders and then sat down in the center seat watched out of the
viewscreen, has the stars passed before them.

(USS Spectre - Captain's Ready Room - CO T`Vhor -
12:15)

Taking advantage of the lull in activities whilst the
Spectre was en route to Tranome Sar, the Captain
picked up the tray from the reception area of his
personal replicator & took it to his desk in order to
partake in a little much needed sustenence.

It had been a while since he had eaten what with the
events that had recently transpired & he was hoping,
against hope probably that he would not be disturbed,
if only for the duration of his meal.

However, economy of motion for a Vulcan was a typical
quality & T`Vhor was no different regardless of the
fact that he was actually a hybrid. With this in mind
though, he swung around his console as he settled into
his chair & proceeded to make a log entry as he ate.

"Captain`s log, Stardate 2407.02.04.... Objective One
is now complete & Presidential Aide Unaru Castigan is
on board & offering his assistance" said T'Vhor as he
began the log entry.

"After valid concerns that we may be transmitting our
location unawares, Chief Vasilyovna is in the process
of performing security sweeps for possible
unauthorised transmission sources aboard the Spectre,
but in so doing she has encountered a non descript
lifeform within the coolant intake of the shuttle we
encountered earlier carrying Ensign`s H'Chir & Korak.
Tests are currently being carried out by our science
teams in order to evaluate this find"

"During our conflict with the two Mercenary warships
designated Zulu Alpha One & Two, we sustained heavy
damage resulting in the unfortunate loss of Ensign`s
Montgomery, Keira, Arique & Truefort. We successfully
disabled one of the attacking vessels but the
encounter has also left acting Chief Engineer
Angeletti in a persistent coma & in consequence to
this fact, Lieutenent Chenoll has now been promoted to
acting CEO until further notice", said T`Vhor as he
paused to take a few mouthfuls of food from his plate
before continuing on.

"Colonel Kriges Understar Marine unit successfully
boarded the disabled vessel & overcame heavy
resistance & as a result of this, the Zulu Alpha One
is now en route to starbase 39-Sierra under command of
Lieutenant Major Savage. The location of the Zulu
Alpha Two is currently unknown, but our own repairs
have been carried out successfully & the Spectre is
fully operational & under cloak once more"

"On another note, Mr Castigan is clearly agitated by
the recent unconfirmed reports of a high profile
assasination somewhere in the Nequencia Alpha system.
My personal view is that it is illogical that
President Nell would travel on a diametrical course to
the one stated & I must therefore conclude that the
assasination, if indeed it is duly confirmed was that
of one of the reported doubles", said T`Vhor as he
paused again to pick up his glass of orange juice to
take a quick sip at it.

"The investigation into Doctor Williams seems to have
calmed somewhat & agent Smith now appears less intent
on pursuing the matter as stringently as she did upon
her arrival. Let the records also show that Doctor
Williams has now been promoted to Second Officer in
recognition of his unflinching service & dedication to
the Spectre & her crew", said T`Vhor.

"Having completed repairs, the Spectre is currently en
route to Tranome Sar which, according to Mr Castigan
is now the most likely location for President Nell
himself, I am optimistic that this is so"

"End of log entry", said T'Vhor as he closed the log &
then continued with the last of his meal before
anyone, or anything else needed his attention.

(USS Spectre - Security - TAC/SC Yelena Vasilyovna -
12:30)

Yelena had been at it now for over an hour & had drawn
nothing but a big fat zero in regards her
investigations. None of the transmission logs from the
Victor Hugo could shed any light on the situation at
all. If something was indeed transmitting covertly
within the Spectre, then it had nothing to do with the
shuttle that much was for sure.

~Damn these logs~

Vasilyovna rubbed at her temples, her eyes hurt from
scrutinising the ever changing images that now seemed
to be blurring into one another in a seamless flow of
meaningless data. She needed a break. A break from the
job in hand & a break from the caffeine induced high
she had sustained from the copious supply of coffee
from the nearby replicator.

Standing from her seat, she shut down the console &
considered heading off for the medical department in
order to gain some relief for her ailments via the
newly promoted Doctor williams.

~I just hope he doesn`t get too cocky in his new
position~

Yelena smiled slightly at the thought that had just
entered her mind, it was comical but unwarranted of
course for the Doctor was never a man prone to
inflated ego syndrome. She allowed the smile to fade
as she coontemplated the reality of not finding
anything in the shuttle logs, then she reached up to
her combadge to open a channel to Ensign Guildford.

"Vasilyovna to Ensign Guildford", said Yelena.

(Reply Guildford)

"How are those sweeps going in Castigans quarters, I
would imagine that your pretty much done there now",
said the security Chief in a hopeful tone of voice.

(Reply Guildford)

"Bring me the results the moment you have consolidated
them, I don`t want us to be on the receiving end of
another mercenary battleship if we this wrong Ensign",
said Yelena.

(Reply Guildford)

"Where is Mr Castigan now, is he in his quarters?",
said Yelena.

(Reply Guildford)

"Ok, good work Ensign, Vasilyovna out", said the chief
as she closed the comms & headed out into the
coriddor.

(USS Spectre - Medical Centre - TAC/SC Yelena
Vasilyovna - 12:40)

Upon entering the Medical Centre, Yelena could see for
herself just how busy the medical teams had been
during their conflict with the enemy vessels. Most of
the serious cases had now been sorted of course, but a
few remained being tended by Doctor Williams`s nurses
& doctors.

Walking up to Williams himself however, she felt kind
of undeserving of his attention at this time, she had
only gone there to see if the Doc could give her
something for her headache & to put upon him now after
he had spent so much time up to his elbows in blood &
guts just didn`t seem right.

She was actually about to just turn around & walk out
when Williams turned to see her standing there.

(Reply Williams)

"Oh, it`s nothing Doctor, really, I can see that you
have been busy, you don`t need anymore problems from
me", said Yelena as she turned away & made for the
door.

(Reply williams)

Yelena stopped & closed her eyes to the accompaniment
of a sigh as he spoke, the man had already gone beyond
the call of duty & yet here he was offering assistance
yet again, it was no wonder the Captain had promoted
him to Second officer.

"Really doctor, it`s nothing", said Yelena turning her
head to face him, "just a headache & my chest has been
hurting a little also", she added.

(Reply Williams)

Yelena smiled & then allowed the Doctor to help her
regardless.

"In my country", said Yelena, "we would call you
Podleenn'ye gepo'ye", she added, "this means true hero
& you ARE a true hero Doctor", she added as she paid
due compliment to his exemplory services to the crew &
the marines they were even now still tending.

(Reply Williams)

"And I believe also that congratulations are in order
on your promotion as well", said Yelena. "You will
make a fine second officer"

Robert and Jo had returned from looking at his new
office. He rather preferred sickbay at least he knew
what he was doing. He smiled to him self as he saw Jo
talking to some of the wounded marines who were still
in sickbay.

~maybe under all that SFI she is a human after
all~

He turned and saw standing beside him. He smiled at
her.

"Hallo Miss Vasilyovna. Is there any thing I can do
for you?"

"Oh, it`s nothing Doctor, really, I can see that you
have been busy, you don`t need anymore problems from
me", said Yelena as she turned away & made for the
 door.

Andrew stepped over to her and lowered his voice.

"Yalana. What is the matter. You've made the effort to
come all the way here. Tell me."

He watched her stopped & closed her eyes then turned
and give a sigh as she spoke.

"Really doctor, it`s nothing", said Yelena turning
her head to face him, "just a headache & my chest has
been hurting a little also", she added.

~Why do people push them selves so hard when I'm only
a call away~

"That's more then nothing. look take a seat over
here."

He ushered Yalena over to a bio-bed. He picked up a
tricorder and began scanning her.

"In my country", said Yelena, "we would call you
Podleenn'ye gepo'ye", she added, "this means true
hero & you ARE a true hero Doctor",

Andrew blushed deeply. He put away the tricordor.

"Your vital are slightly elevated but that's due to
the pain. I am no hero. I'm just doing my job like any
one else."

"And I believe also that congratulations are in
order on your promotion as well", said Yelena. "You
will make a fine second officer"

Andrew smiled as he picked up the hypospray.

"Thank you very much. Although I must tell you that I
was very surprised. At least I will be able to sit in
one of those nice chairs on the bridge."

He injected the hyposray into Yelena's neck.

"This should help. I'll give you another in case it
wares off."

He inserted another cartridge and handed the hyposray
to her.

tightness in her chest from her earlier injury`s was a
godsend.

"Thank you doctor", said Vasilyovna with a smile.

"How are things going generally. I've been stuck in
here and have no idea about what is happening around
the ship?", said Doctor Williams.

Yelena simply shrugged her shoulders as Williams
handed her another hypospray for later use.

"Really, you aren`t missing anything Doctor, we are of
course fully operational again after our run in with

(Reply Williams, IYW)

"But I have taken up far too much of your time now
Doctor, you are busy & I must return to my own duties

her legs back down onto the floor.
