(USS Nimitz - Deck 10, Holosuite 7 - ATAC - Ensign Paul Casely - 0607)

Paul walked into the Holosuite and stated aloud, "Begin training programme Casely 2A." He was wearing a black gi and barefoot. The empty and "blank" holosuite changed into a typical dojo with mats, punching bags and other training equipment. Then a second person appeared and started doing warm up exercises, Paul followed the movements and the motions of the "trainer" in front of him patterned after a friend from his first days of the academy, Greg Barris. Greg was a few inches taller than him and a fair bit leaner, he had a certain grace in movement that Paul had always lacked. The two of them had met in martial art training at the academy with Greg leading the classes. Paul had been a quick study and the two of them had become fast friends. ~I really should contact him at some point.~

"Greg, could you repeat that last hyung again, please?" inquired Paul.

"Sure Paul," responded the image and repeated a complex tong-il pattern again with Paul following. Paul had met Greg Barris when he first started at the Academy... Greg was graduating that year. After that, he had been stationed on the Gandhi in security, big surprise, and Paul had lost track of him.

For 20 minutes, Paul simply repeated patterns to warm up and then stated, "Stop programme, begin training programme Casely 2B." At that point, Paul's friend disappeared as did the dojo. The scene changed to an oriental garden, providing a good deal of natural obstacles to avoid, and a much more aggressive looking figure shimmered into being and lunged to attack. Paul began several deft moves, including the tong-il, defeating his opponent easily. ~The first one is always the easy one.~

"Computer advance."

Two more opponents appeared and Paul continued his callisthenic exercises. This was much more complicated and Paul took his lumps before dispatching his latest foes.

"Computer advance."

The scene around Paul changed again, this time to a fairly barren planet. The planet was rocky and barren and had a strange, yellow sky. The air hung ominously around him. A full tang appeared which Paul quickly picked up, and one of his now three opponents would now be similarly armed. Paul's new foes, a Romulan, an engineered Angosian and a Cardassian appeared. The Angosian was armed with a blade similar to his. At this point Paul combined the tong-il pattern with his sword use, deftly using both unarmed physical combat and the tang to subdue his foes. Again, Paul found the level challenging and had to move quickly more than once to avoid the enemy blade. He knew he would have to keep practicing this pattern until the movements because second nature. He also knew that the presence of a Klingon on board might require him to be able to use less conventional weapons.

~I wonder what the heft of a bat'leth is like... how hard it would be to maneuver with it.~ considered Paul. ~Maybe in the next series I can incorporate that.~

Paul wanted to discuss the fighting form of the Klingons with the new officer, but he wasn't sure how he would take to a "lowly human Ensign" trying to discuss combat with him. As he was considering this, Paul was knocked to the floor by the movements of one of his opponents.

~Damn it. I have to pay attention to what I'm doing. Enough stray thoughts.~ Once Paul refocused himself and returned to his feet, he was able to maneuver around his opponents fairly well and finish the simulation.

"Computer, score."

The computer droned on with his results, "Pattern adherence - 93%, Effectiveness 87%, Strike Accuracy 92%". Not bad except for the effectiveness score... he knew that had to do with him ending up on the floor once. He had to work on his concentration, there were no safety measures outside of the holosuite and an error like that would surely cost him his life. Paul wondered if any of his crewmates would like to work out with him in the morning. Perhaps given time he'd be able to ask them to join him. They seemed nice enough, but everything was so new and Paul didn't want to overstep his boundries.

"Computer, time?" requested Paul.

"The time is now 0657 hrs," responded the computer.

~Just enough time to get cleaned up and have something to eat before the meeting, he didn't want to be late for his first day. I wonder if they have cretons... or oatmeal.~ Paul chuckled to himself... only someone with an English Canadian father and a French Canadian mother would understand the strange paradox of his menu. He missed the eclectic cuisine of his parents' home and had since he had made his decision.

"Computer, end programme."

The holosuite shimmered for a moment as the scenery around him disappeared and the black room with gridlines replaced it. Paul walked out of the holosuite and headed into the hallway and towards his quarters.

(IKS Rashvok - Bridge - SutaI K'ven, house of T'laK - 0630)

K'ven walked out of the CO's Office onto the bridge then moved over to the
Operations officer. He actually felt proud of himself to have been picked
for such a tasking to represent the Empire with Starfleet. He would teach
them how it is to be a Klingon warrior and what honor was. He chuckled to
himself as this Slytherwold would be taught the hard way on how to be a
security Chief on a klingon Vessel.

"The time to the Nimitz?" He demanded.

"2 hours" was the reply from the Ops officer.

"I will be in my quarters preparing. Inform me when we are near." K'ven
ordered then turned and left.

(IKS Rashvok - Bridge - SutaI K'ven, House of T'laK - 0920)

K'ven had been informed that they were close to the Nimitz and returned to
the bridge for when they were to make contact with them. He was standing at
his station looking over the security aspects of the ship and listening to
the captain bark orders. He saw the Nimitz in the distance as they were
closing in on them cloaked.

As they got close to the Nimitz, they positioned themselves off the port
side and matched their speed for a bit before Darg decided to get the
exchange over with.

"Helm, Disengage Cloak" Darg barked and the Rashvok shimmered then bacame
visible.

Darg motioned to com to link them to the Nimitz. "Darg, IKS Rashvok warship
of the Klingon Empire to USS Nimitz"

(reply Nimitz)

"Yes, Captain Sash is your Slytherwold ready to beam over? His replacement
is ready and the coordinates have been sent" Darg snarled out as he thought
it distastefull to have one of his finest serve aboard a Starfleet vessel.

(reply Nimitz)

"Then let us get this done, Darg out." Darg motioned for the connection to
be cut.

"K'ven, remember what I said or I will cut your throat personally." Darg
told him as K'ven left for the transporter room.

(USS Nimitz - Transporter Room - SutaI K'ven, House of T'laK - 0655)

K'ven stood up straight as he was transported over to the Nimitz. As he
arrived he looked around looking at the ample space that starfleet wasted on
their ships. Klingon warships were built for war and therefore had no need
for the spacious pleasure that made starfleet personnel so weak. The
transporter room had more room than his quarters on the Rashvok and he shook
his head at the thought.

"You" He said as he stepped off the padd looking at a Security crewman,
"will escort me to the Captain."

The security crewman looked at the big Klingon that had just ordered him,
not knowing what to do otherwise, he turned to follow the Klingon as K'ven
walked out of the room into the corridor. "This way sir"

(USS Nimitz - Bridge - SutaI K'ven, House of T'laK - 0945)

The Security Crewman, along with a couple others that had joined them on the
way, escorted K'ven directly to the bridge and to the door of the ready
room. Two of them stood on either side of the door while the first one hit
the door chime.

"Come" they heard from inside

"Sir if you would wait out here, I will announce you" the security crewman
stated

"I will not!!" K'ven growled and pushed past the man, which, all three
followed him in. "I will announce myself!"

"Captain Sash, I am SutaI K'ven, from the House of T'laK. My orders." K'ven
grunted as he handed his padd to Sash.

Stardate:2406.10.28
(IKS Rashvok - CO Office - SutaI K'ven, house of T'laK - 0700)

Being aboard the Rashkov was the one true honor of K'ven's life. He was
Klingon, and being at the cusp of battle was what made his blood boil, and
the Rashkov was right there. As the Security Chief of a Klingon warship,
K'ven was held in high regard, so it was with great curiosity that he
answered the call to see his CO in private.

K'ven entered and walked up to the captain, "Sir What is it that you
require?"

Darg looked up from his desk, which was unusually organized for him. It may
have seemed disorganized to the casual observer, but just like his ship, he
knew exactly where everything was. There was a large cup of some bubling
liquid sitting on the desk top. Darg took a large drink from it and let out
a tremendous belch.

"K'ven, come in here." Darg stood up and came around the desk. Something he
didn't often do when speakin with a subordinate.

"I have a... proposition for You."

K'ven was a bit curious as to why his captain was being so polite to him.
This was not the usual talk that the captain had with his men. He usually
just told them what they were going to do not proposition them. Keeping his
face the usual passive look, he decided to find out what it was.

"Speak, then."

"Apparently this Starfleet civil war is not a passing moment. The Empire
has had to sit up and take notice. In that light, it has been decided to
re-initiate the cultural exchange program. It has been decided that, in the
best interest of the empire," he could barely get the words out, so
distasteful they were, "you have been selected to participate."

Even though he had related his wish to participate in the cultural exchange
program if it ever got started once again, he half wish he hadn't gotten
picked. But, then again, there were the great possibilities that great
battles would be fought there. He could see the distast in his captain at
having to send one of his own to Starfleet and recieve one of theirs. K'ven
and his captain knew that Starfleet would be on the receiving end of the
better warrior. This assignment was beneath a klingon from any station and
would mean that most Klingons would look down upon anyone being assigned to
it.

"For the Glory of the Empire, I will accept duty among the targs." He
replied in the gruff Klingon style, "and what are my orders while there my
captain?"

"Orders?" Darg said leaning in close, his breath hot on his Security Chiefs
face. "Defend your ship as if it were your own. If you dishonor me or my
ship I will cut your heart out myself, and eat it for lunch. Beyond that,
you will watch and see. And when the time comes for the Empire to make a
decision you may be called upon to report. "

Darg stood up to his full height once agian. "Now get out of my office. I
must prepare myself for the p'tahk, Slytherwald, to be on my ship."

Darg's breath was worse than most warriors but he had the station to let it
get that way, it almost made him gag. K'ven stood for a moment not wanting
to seem like he was so scared of his own shadow that he had to slither away
with his tail between his legs. He then turned with a grunt and left the
office. He went to pack his meger belongings to get ready for his
departure.

(USS Nimitz - Deck 10, Sickbay - ATAC - Ensign Paul Casely - 0732)

Paul strolled down the hallway in his crisp new uniform, paused for a second and pulled the tunic down. He was new on the ship and therefore had many things to do. He had reported in with the Captain, he had checked in with his direct superior, but he still hadn't stopped in at sickbay to check on the transfer of his records or to book in for a physical. He had been in space for over a month now and it was standard procedure to ensure that his body was adjusting properly. Paul knew at some point he would have to stop in at Counselling for the very same reason.

Paul stopped in front of the door for a second and walked through. He had heard that the Medical Officer in charge had also become second officer and with no first officer on board, it was likely that he would be on the bridge. Still, a vessel this size had to have someone on duty. After entering sickbay, Paul quickly scanned around at the impressive sickbay before him.

NRPG - Sorry Nathan, it will mess with continuity if I meet you now, that's why I left Kincaid out.

"Ummm... Hello. I'm Ensign Casely. I just joined this ship and wanted to make sure that my records had been transferred. I guess I should also book in for a physical. I have a meeting at 0900 and would like to be a bit early for it, but otherwise, when would be good for you?" inquired the Ensign.

"Captain Sash, I am SutaI K'ven, from the House of T'laK. My orders."
K'ven grunted as he handed his padd to Sash.

Sah looked at the security officer that still stood in the doorway, his had
on his phaser. Sash waved him off and the door closed. When they were
alone Sash pulled himself up to his full height. He came around the desk
and stood in front of K'ven.

He'd been expecting this Klingon. Another cultural exchange program. The
idea had given the Angosian a headache, but he also saw the value of
eliciting the help of the Klingons in their own war. After all, it was a
war of honor. They should appreciate that.

He looked the K'ven up and down for a moment, then with a sudden move he
struck the Klingon across the face with a left hook. K'ven went down to the
floor with the force of the vlow. He looked up from the floor with fire in
his eyes.

"I'm not certainhow your captain ran his ship, SutaI K'ven, from the House
of T'laK, however, here we have some protocals." His voice was calm but
forceful, obviously offering the Klingon a challenge. "And one them is
that my security people speak for me sometimes. When you ignore their
requests, then you doubt my command. Do you wish to continue challenging me
for command of this ship?"

(USS Nimitz - Ready room - SutaI K'ven, from the House of T'laK - 0850)

K'ven stood there watching the Angosian behind the desk and wondered how he
would react to a klingon barging in the way he had done. If the Captain was
anything of what he had read about him, he would not take what he had done
lightly. He saw the Captain dismiss the security detail then stand up and
come around the desk to stand in front of him. The captain was not as tall
as himself but almost and he was a bit slimmer.

The captain looked him up and down as if he was sizing up his next action,
but, what came next was a total surprise to K'ven. The Captain struck him
with a left hook that would make a Klingon proud which put K'ven on the
floor. Catching him off guard like that and sending him to the floor was not
something that K'ven appreciated from this Starfleet Captain. He looked up
at him with fire in his eyes, not even raising his hand to rub his jaw to
give this captain the satisfaction. He got up and was about to return the
favor to show this captain that it was not a good thing to hit a Klingon
thus, when, the captain started speaking.

"I'm not certain how your captain ran his ship, SutaI K'ven, from the House
of T'laK, however, here we have some protocols." The captain for his sake
kept his voice calm but forceful and K'ven heard the challenge in it. "And
one them is that my security people speak for me sometimes. When you ignore
their requests, then you doubt my command. Do you wish to continue
challenging me for command of this ship?"

K'ven stood there with a sneer on his face, but, thought of what his last
captain had said and it would not be honorable to fight with the captain of
the ship he was going to work on for the Empire.

"If you were anyone but the captain," K'ven started, "I would kill you where
you stand." He returned to the captain, then, with a smile, "I am glad to
see that starfleet has a captain as you. It will be an Honor to serve under
you. What position do you require that I serve as?"

(USS Nimitz - Conference Lounge - chief TAC Ensign Kateb - 0850)

Onyx arrived and was surprise to be first for this meeting, she was rather happy now that the photon torpedo storage magazine were full. That phaser calibrations were to her liking was something that she wanted also and now it was done. Her tactical crew was running smoothly just has the security team also, transferes had been done and now everyone were happy. At least she hope they would say something if they weren't.

She took her seat and lean back putting her padd on the table. She settled her head on the head rest and closed her eyes. It's been a long time since she felt herself, why was that, only one name came to her mind... Edward. Him back, everything was different around her, she didn't feel alone anymore. Someone was there, loving her, being with her, she could share herself and too she was missing that, missing that a lot.

Onyx didn't flinch when she heard the door but did wonder who it could be, instead, she took a deep breath to clear her mind and relax her body even further.

Onyx didn't flinch when she heard the door but did wonder who it could be, instead, she took a

Paul walked into the Conference Lounge, nervously looking around. The night had been... long... he thought that it would get easier after going from ship to ship and sleeping in different beds regularly, but it was more than just ill ease at sleeping in a new place. Paul had difficulty sleeping as he layed awake in bed thinking about his new duties. Everyone seemed very patient with him and that they understood his trepidation but it still felt strange. It was fairly easy for him to get up and ready for the meeting in time, he didn't want to be late afterall. He was surprised to see the Conference Lounge mostly unoccupied, except for Ensign Kateb.

"Good morning, Sir. How are you today?" inquired Paul. He had briefly met his superior officer yesterday, but hadn't much time to talk to her. She seemed fairly focussed and he was sure he could learn a great deal from her.

Turning to Onyx he spoke more quietly, “You didn’t tell me about the new guy,”

“If I recall, last night we didn't arrive close to talking about anything new.” She gave him a mischivious smill. “I think the meeting will start soon now.” Seeing the captain getting comfortable in his seat.

Kinkaid broke the hand shake gesture and said, “Ensign, it is a pleasure to
have you aboard the Nimitz. If I may, can I ask an odd question to you.”

(Reply Casely)

“As a cadet in the Academy, did you have an instructor by the name of
‘Stanford’?”

Kinkaid asked hoping to put his mind at rest about the Ensign’s name so
paranoia does not incapacitate his mental faculties.

"Yes Sir. Lieutenant Stanford. He put me through my final trials before
graduation and placement Sir," Casely replied, "How did you know sir?"
Casely had an inquisitive look on his face and was feeling seriously
puzzled.

Kinkaid looked at Casely and said, "Well, Ensign, Lt. Adam Stanford is a
close friend from my home of Texas and a good teacher."

Casely felt a wave of relief and thought back to the trials that he had been put through. "Yes Sir. I was happy to know him. We didn't get much time to get to know each other but I did get to 'see' his Texas home," replied Casely.

~ I wonder what he said about me... ~ Casely thought as he and Kinkaid exchanged
hand shakes once more.

(USS Nimitz - Conference Room- CO - Captain Devan Sash - 0900)

Sash walked through the door, with K'ven behind him. He motioned for a seat
and the big Klingon sat, ignoring the eyes on him. Sash moved to his seat
and dropped the load in his hands. He sat down and looked around the room.
He was please everyone was there. He would get started on time, and without
an incident, this time.

"Let's get started," Sash announced, and all eyes turned to him.

He took a deep breath and began. "As you can see by the empty chair,
Commander Troi is not withus. She has taken a leave of absence, to deal
with a family matter, back on Betazed." He stopped to let that sink in.
Betazed was in the heart of "enemy territory", and with the Nimitz's new
status as war criminals, she was heading for some dangerous grounds.

"So we will be without our FO for a while. However, we do have our new 2O,
in Lt Kincaid, who has had his first shift as watch commander for Beta
shift. Which I understand went well." Kincaid nodded and smiled.

"And with that,I'd like to introduce a few new officers to our merry band.
Our new CSO, Dr Hollis Gralen."

(reply Gralen)

"Our new Assitant Tactical Chief, Ensign Paul Casely."

(reply Casely)

"You've all met our new Security Chief, Lt. commander Edward Gideon, and our
new Chief of Ops, Lt Cithy Dumas."

(reply Gideon, Dumas)

"And this," Sash indicated to K'ven, "is our new Strategic Operations
officer, Lt. Commander K'ven. We have managed to get him in a cultural
exchange program with the Klingons. You'll see that Mr. Slytherwald is not
with us. He has been transfered to the Klingon ship for the same purpose."

(reply K'ven)

Sash took anohter breath and went on. "With that complete, I'd like to move
on to a well earned promotion. There wasn't really time to get to this
promotion before, but I'd like to rectify that now. Ensign O'Neill, please
come forward."

(reply O'Neill)

"Ensign, in honor of your work on the Archimedes, and yours and Ms. Weston's
work on the sensor array, I hearby promote you to the rank of Ensign SG."
Sash picked up a box with a gold pip in it. He removed the black pip and
replaced it with the gold one. "Congratulations Ensign."
Sash shook hands with the ACEO.

(reply O'Neill)

After O'Neill took his seat Sash looked at the table again. "Well, my
friends, we ahve been through a lot the past month. We've seen ou ups and
downs. And we've been branded war criminals to boot. I just want to say
how proud I am of you all and the way you all performed. I'd also like to
thank you all for your diligance in the repairs that needed to be made. So,
in honor of your achievements, and in welcoming our new crew members, I'd
like to invite you all to mixer at 10 forward, at 2000 hours."

He paused for a wmoment. "Take this opportunity to relax while you can, we
are to be deployed out again tomorrow. Make sure all stations are ready
before the "mill and seill" as they were called at the academy. Dismissed."

Paul watched the Captain followed by the largest "man" he'd ever seen. This was the Klingon he'd heard about. They both took seats.

~They're even bigger than I thought... and meaner looking.~ considered Paul, swallowing hard.

"Let's get started," Sash announced, and Paul turned and looked attentively at him.

He took a deep breath and began. "As you can see by the empty chair,
Commander Troi is not withus. She has taken a leave of absence, to deal
with a family matter, back on Betazed."

~The Captain seems concerned about something... I don't understand what the problem is. I'll have to ask him later. It seems a good deal of information was missing at the Academy.~ pondered Paul.

"So we will be without our FO for a while. However, we do have our new 2O,

~Wow... I wonder what happened to all the other crew members. There seems to be an awful lot of us that are new. I don't know if that is a good thing or not.~

Sash took anohter breath and went on. "With that complete, I'd like to move
on to a well earned promotion. There wasn't really time to get to this

~War criminals? By whom? How did this happen? What have I gotten myself into?~ thought Paul, suddenly concerned.

Sash took anohter breath and went on. "With that complete, I'd like to move on to a well earned promotion. There wasn't really time to get to this promotion before, but I'd like to rectify that now. Ensign O'Neill, please come forward."

Miles' heart leaped. He had been expecting this for some time, although he had never considered how it would feel. He slowly rose from his chair, and walked over to the Captain. ~Oh boy, I can't believe I'm getting promoted!~ He thought to himself

"Ensign, in honor of your work on the Archimedes, and yours and Ms. Weston's work on the sensor array, I hearby promote you to the rank of Ensign SG." Sash picked up a box with a gold pip in it. He removed the black pip and replaced it with the gold one. "Congratulations Ensign." Sash shook hands with the ACEO.

"Thank you very much, sir." Miles said, eagerly shaking his hand. He walked back to his chair, and sat down as he listened to the rest of the briefing.

Onyx was surprise to see K'Ven walking in behind Captain Sash, him and her knew each other from the Rashkov. He didn't acknowledge her but that was alright, she knew better.

When the Captain presented him, she gave him a nod and wonder for a moment if he would be as much protective of her here then on board the Rashkov even if she proved that she didn't need help.

Came also one promotion, they all clap hands and also the good news, a day to relax and a get together.

“I will be in that mixer Captain.” She smiled and look at everyone leaving, she also followed them.

~Lucky me... nothing to do today.~

"I will be in that mixer Captain." She smiled and look at everyone leaving, she also followed
them.

"I will be too Captain. I look foward to it, Sir," stated Paul. He hoped that the mixer would be a chance to get to know a few of his crewmates better... maybe find a sparing partner for his holodeck programmes. Paul smiled faintly wondering what it would be like to ask the Klingon officer about the bat'leth. He was lost in his thoughts and almost missed Ensign Kateb as she was leaving.

"Ummm, excuse me Ensign Kateb, Sir. I was wondering if it would be possible for me to acquaint myself with the tactical controls on the bridge for awhile and perhaps programme my own configuration, just in case I end up doing a duty shift by myself?" inquired Paul.

(Reply Kateb)

Paul smiled faintly. He still felt a bit like a fish out of water here, even if a number of the crew were new. He knew he had to start showing a bit more confidence or nothing would ever get done.

"I would appreciate any help with the eccentricities of the tactical station as well, Sir. I know all ships end up being 'reconfigured' to suit the officers running the stations in question. I'm a bit overwhelmed at the moment and would really like to ensure I understand the stations and its functions before we leave dock."
