(Starbase Valhalla - Main Operations - FO Cmdr Richard Ian Lee -
2378.08.19.0838)
"Even on the ball, you loose people."
"Thank you, sir. I'll resume my duties."
Lee nodded, and sat down in the seat before the command console. He rubbed the bridge of his nose for a few moments, then looked back up.
He pursed his lips, and watched the tactical monitor as the Starfleet ships began reporting in. He leaned back, just as the AOPS officer called up to him "Sir, we have a lead on the saboteur. Security is checking shuttle Gallegos, it seems a 'Rear Admiral Kevel' has been using it to 'Tour' the USS Lion, and now I can't raise the pilot."
Rich blinked. "Say again, Rear Admiral Kevel?" He knew that name. "He is Commandant of the Academy!" He pointed, "Get on it, regular reports from security!"
"Yes, sir."
Rich clicked his tongue, and crossed his arms as he watched his monitor. Something was defiantly smelling Rotten.

2378.08.19.0900)
Ralth rubbed his eyes and noticed a security report incoming. ~Okay, let's see what we have... Ensign Tardis found dead, damnit! Another dash on your scorecard, saboteur, and the score must be evened out in the end. No samples of intruder DNA in hair, skinflakes or anything. No fibers from his clothing... Who the hell is this guy? It looks like he knows all Federation security measures. The scanner data from his access card was valid for Admiral Kevel, in fact identical. Argh!~ Sighing to himself, Ralth turned to the commander.
"Sir, security rreports they found ensign Tarrdis's body tucked into a comparrtment in the shuttle. They found _no_ evidence to suggest there was ever anyone else inside the shuttle, not even clothing fiberrs or gloveprrints. Nothing. Our saboteur knows what he is doing, sir. That, or ensign Tarrdis flew over to the Lion, planted the device, returned, shot himself and then tucked himself away into a comparrtment. I'm still waiting a rreport on why the phaserfire didn't rregister on our scanners."
(Reply FO)
"Yes, sir." With that, Ralth turned to return to his duties. Where the hell was the engineering report on the power-grid failures? "AOPS to engineering. I'm trrying to figure out where our mysterious saboteur has been. I'll need inforrmation on those power-grid failures, theirr location and severrity ASAP. Ra'Kir out."
~Hm.. Maybe that'll get them going.~ With that, Ralth returned to monitoring Security transmissions, deep in thought, trying to become his prey to figure out where the saboteur would strike next.

(Otono Medical Centre - Otono Storm Centre - OPS Lt Martin Black -
2378.08.19.0902)
"You are dismissed on two conditions. You are to be back here at your earliest availiblty, over at Otono Central and you are to report to me. Understood?"
"Yes..." Listening to the Doctor was a strain. Like listening for a singular violin in a vast orchestra, "Yes, Doctor."
"Good. You are dismissed."
Martin didn't wait for the Doctor to change his mind. He strode quickly out of the building and headed for the shuttleport. There was much work ahead of him.

(Starbase Valhalla - CEO's Office - ACEO Ens JG Lee Rough - 2378.08.19.0925)
Lee walked in to Taz Rivers office as soon as he was asked. Ensign Taz River seemed friendly and Lee started to think he could get on well with him. Taz walked over to the replicator and asked for a black coffee, Taz askede Lee if he wanted a drink?
"Ermmm, sure ill have the same as you thanks."
Taz handed Lee the drink and sat back down, he shuffled in his seat and told Lee about a Dominion base very close to earth, he mentioned it was a surveillance mission but with the upgraded weapons he thinks if we get the chance we will destroy it.
~My first assignment, sounds good~
Taz stood up quickly and told Lee we had better be going.
"Lead the way" Lee said to Taz as Lee still didnt know his way round the station.

Ralth had just recieved a message from medical saying ltn. Black had returned to consciousness and had been released when his commbadge clicked again. <Incoming message from ltn. Black> "Play message."
=^=Ralth, I've been ordered back down to Otono for medical tests. You're incharge of station Operations until I return. Valhalla transporters are still down, the away team will have to use the transporters on the Firebrande.=^=
Nodding, Ralth pressed a few buttons to send an acknowledging message to Martin.

(Strategic Operations - STRATOPS's Office - STRATOPS Cptn Jenna Rulestaad -
2378.08.19.1100)
Jenna looked at the PADD before her, and shivered with something that could almost be called anticipation. With all the problems the station was still having, with the threat of attack and the mounted mission to hunt some Dominion pirates, Starfleet command had decided it was going to take no more delay. She held in her hands the collected knowledge of hundreds of Stratops personnel. The label on it, placed under about five different levels of Stratops encrypts, bore black letters that she had recognized right off from her time as Assistant Strategic Officer of the Fleet. It sent shivers up her spine, and made her feel as close to 'good' as she could get in a time like this.
The words spelled out 'Project Firebird'
She put the PADD aside, and once again picked up her orders. The enunciator went off, and she called out quietly "Come."
The doors opened to grant admittance to a short bundle of fur. She looked up at him, and gave a feral grin, as she tossed him the PADD. "The Admiral hath given us toys, let us rejoice and be filled with gladness."
Dorkin frowned as he looked at his CO. ~Crazy woman~
He looked back down at the PADD, pushed in his security clearance as it was also Command Encrypted, and read allowed. "by order of Starfleet Command and Fleet Strategic Operations... yadda yadda yadda."
He frowned deeper, and scrolled down on the PADD. "...accordingly, Stratops Utopia Planitia has been given full possession of Project Firebird, and the fruits of said project..."
Dorkin scratched his head, and tossed the PADD back on the desk. "Id heard the name, but I have no Gutpuckin clue what the project entails!"
Jenna had been watching her 2O with steepled fingers as he had begun reading, and grinned at him as he complained about a lack of knowledge. "The project, was one of great secrecy, obviously." she said. She laughed again at the look on his face at her response, and turned good naturally to a small encryption device on her desk. "Computer, secure room."
The computer beeped, and the doors locked. In what was quite possibly the most secure area of Utopia Planitia, Jenna Rulestaad placed the PADD in the encryption device that fed directly to a screen behind her, and tapped her badge as it loaded. "Captain Rulestaad to the Advanced Technology Council and the Chief of Operations. Meet me in Strategic Operations in one hour. Rulestaad out."
Jenna lifted her eyes to her 2O, and openly smiled at the look of pure enjoyment and animalism that the information on the screen behind her produced. He had caught the implications, as she knew he would.
Dorkin too, was becoming more enchanted with Project Firebird, the more he read.

(Mars Base, Research Wing - WTO's Office - CO Cptn Remae Ktell -
2378.08.19.1105)
Remae was interrupting the Warp Technologies calculations with his arrival into her office. Tanya was red faced and upset with losing her train of thought.
"Yes, Ensign, Lieutenant, Commander, Admiral, what can I do for you? Now that you've completely made me miss the one shield vector that was missed and I had it before my very yes, who knows when it shall grace me with its presence again."
The Bajoran lifted his head from the odd angle the Doctor had been at, and as the
"Captain, actually, Doctor. I've been ordered to command the ship that we will be using to test your new warp drive technology. The ship is at your disposal; let me know if there you need and we will depart when you are ready.", he said, walking closer to her desk.
Tanya looked at the Bajoran before her strangely. Why was he here? What had he said...
Oh, right, he'd been made the Captain of the ship, that they were supposed to be experimenting with. Tanya nodded her head.
"Alright, Comm - Captain." She corrected herself. She had a funny feeling that getting this person's rank correct was probably an important thing.
"There will be some modifications that need to be made to the shield grid in order that it can conform to the subspace frequency of the carrier wave, but those exact calculations and programming have yet to be perfected, they will be made available to the engineers soon." Tanya finished.
"Very well, Doctor - I'll take care of it. If I may, you were in deep thought there, for a moment, weren't you?", he said, before continuing, "If you'll let me, I was taught a little technique that maybe able to help you?", he said.
Tanya looked at the strange captain before her. What had he said? Her mind was rather fuzzy, Oh, right, something about a technique. She looked at him, skeptically, her grey matter wasn't something that she liked people toying with, however, it wasn't like he was going to do a full blown lobotomy with a fork, and he had said 'technique' perhaps it would help. She relaxed her face.
"Sure, please, C-aptain, if you wouldn't m-mind that is." she finally managed, despite her skepticism.
Nodding, Remae went a little closer to the Doctor, even though she was across the room on the other side of her desk, he raised his hands a little towards here.
"Close your eyes for a moment and think about the warp calculations, nothing else exists, not this room or anything else, or anyone else, just you and your thoughts.",
He checked to make sure she was doing what she was being told, even though she probably was faking a little, Remae looked over at the small and slight odd looking rink on his finger - imbedded was a gift from his people and it began to glow, softly to itself, a piece of an Bajoran Orb emitted its light and the room began to fill with it, hopefully, helping Tanya find what she was after. a few moment later, it was over, but Remae had already left the room while it was take a few moments for the Doctor to recover, he would catch up with her later on.
Instantly, Tanya was in a white sterile room, she was wearing a white gown that would have been pure white, except of course for the pattern of blue flowers that adorned it in a completely seemingly random pattern. She could hear her heart beating, over and over again. There was something about this place, it seemed familiar, and there was something that she'd not seen, yet
she had... All of a sudden a voice filled the air. It was speaking, but
Tanya was not quite capable to
understand it. Also, it didn't appear to have an origin, or did it? The room was blank, there was no furniture in it, except the lone cot that Tanya was laying on, her bed sheets were white as well, or were they white, no, in fact they were clear. Clear bedsheets? Tanya began to wonder. That voice began to speak again, and this time a man appeared that seemed to be somehow associated with the voice. He was dressed in white also except for his green shoelaces. Tanya looked at him strangely. The voice boomed overhead as if amplified by something that was around them, but yet it had nor source, there was no speakers or such device that would cause a noise to be made.
Tanya looked at the man, and his lips weren't' moving, but yet she heard a voice that was somehow paralleled to his own, or was it. She wasn't sure. The man began to pull out a bunch of shapes. Tanya had to identify them, with the holo-images that appeared before her. Then she was required to make such shapes out of a sticky white material. There were several shapes that she was required to make, each more complex than the previous one.
Tanya was confused, why was she making such things. Then the man took her creations and attempted to roll them across the room. Tanya did as she thought she was supposed to, by imitating him. As expected, some passed quite well while others did not. But it was the way that the sides of the shapes were configured that caused the shapes to either roll or not roll with ease or not. Then the man had her throwing the shapes to the wall to see how they would rebound. Also things were dependant on the shape, but in both instances, the ones with sides that were flat and not round, they did not deflect off the wall in an unexpected way, and also they didn't roll... they....sat as they were supposed..............to................
Tanya's eyes flashed open, she was in her office things were different, she had been dreaming? She thought back to what she'd seen, it had been a room, similar to one of the ones she found herself being tested in as a child and she was being required to make shapes. SHAPES! That was it, the vector; she needed to ensure that there was some sort of shape that would ensure that the ship would sit correctly in the stream. It couldn't have the normal curvature of shields, it had to be different, and it had to have a ledge or hook of some sort.
Tanya examined the figure of numbers before her and instantly, the answer popped out to her. She had it, this was it. She keyed it into her PADD, it made a dinging noise, and then suddenly, it displayed the output.
~Funny, it looks rather like the bottom graduation of the hulls of old earth ships. Well....~ she reasoned ~they were sitting in water, and cutting it, and this, well, this is through subspace waves... ~ Tanya shook her head, there were simulations to run.
She paused, did someone come to visit? She vaguely remembered someone that looked Bajoran, but she wasn't certain if that person had been in her dream or not. Never the less, she shook her head and proceeded to set up the simulations for her series.

(Otono Medical Centre - Otono Central - OPS Lt Martin Black -
2378.08.19.1110)
Martin walked, somewhat apprehensively, into the reception room at Otono Central looking about for Doctor Cambridge. Patiently he clicked his heels whilst waiting for the CMO to appear.
=/\=Captain Rulestaad to the Advanced Technology Council and the Chief of Operations. Meet me in Strategic Operations in one hour. Rulestaad out.=/\=
Martin tapped his commbadge immediately, "Lieutenant Black to Captain Rulestaad; I am currently being kept in Doctor Cambridge's care at Otono. I will make every effort to attend your meeting personally, but if this is not possible would my assistant, Ensign Ra'Kir, be acceptable?"
(Reply Rulestaad)
"Understood, sir, Black out." Martin had no sooner closed the connection then he received another bleep through his comm-badge:
=/\=Captain Remae to Operations and Engineering, I need teams onboard the Firebrande to upgrade the Primary Shield Grid, as soon as possible - Remae out.=/\=
He sighed. It was going to be one of those days, and he most likely wasn't going to be around to help out Mr Ra'Kir... "Lieutenant Black to Captain Remae; I'm currently in the care of the Otono Medical Facility, but I shall forward your request to the Assistant OPS, Ensign Ra'Kir."
(Reply Remae, If required)
"Black out." As he tapped the comm-badge to close the channel, Maxwell Cambridge rounded the corner, "Ahhh, Doctor, sorry for taking so long but it's becoming very busy very quickly up there. Would you mind if I sent a quick update to my Assistant?"
(Reply Cambridge)
Martin tapped his comm-badge and quickly summed up the last two messages he'd received to his assistant, before allowing the Doctor to lead him on to the examination.

Rulestaad sat back, and considered that hard for a moment. She blinked, then replied. "If it is absolutly necessary, Lieuteant. But I would wish for You to be there personally."
=^=Understood, sir, Black out.=^=
Jenna blinked again, and awaited the rest to contact her.

The two engineers made there way to Transporter room 3. On there way down they made idle chatter about the academy and they noticed they had some of the same instructors.
Lee and Taz arrived at Transporter room 3 where Dario was waiting for them.
Ensign Taz introduced Lee to Dario. They were ready to go.

(Starbase Valhalla - Main Operations - AOPS Ens JG Ralth Ra'Kir -
2378.08.19.1132)
<Messages incoming.> "Play." Ralth didn't even lift his head from the operations console, because he was in the process of regulating traffic to the three different station shuttle landing platforms that were still in use while the security were crawling over the fourth.
=^=Captain Rulestaad to the Advanced Technology Council and the Chief of Operations. Meet me in Strategic Operations in one hour. Rulestaad out.=^=
=^=Captain Remae to Operations and Engineering, I need teams onboard the Firebrande to upgrade the Primary Shield Grid, as soon as possible - Remae out.=^=
<Messages relayed by ltn. Black.>
Ralth sighed deeply. ~So, at least I'll be too busy to think about Okada... Blast it, concentrate! Okay. So I have one hour to report to Stratops, and I'll need three specialist teams from engineering to pull that shield grid upgrade before she's due to launch. Maybe I'll be able to get those engineers onboard _before_ this meeting with the Stratops head.~
"AOPS to engineering. Prriority one. The Firrebrande is waiting forr an upgrade and rrecalibration of their Prrimary Shield Grrid. She's due to launch immediately after the Columbia rreturns and has been debriefed, so get to it. Also, our transporters are still out due to the power grid crisis, so use the Firebrande's transporters. Ra'Kir out."
~That probably doesn't win me many friends in Engineering, but then again, I haven't heard back from them in any case. They better get the job done, though, or I'm going down there to bust some heads!~ Shaking his in frustration, Ralth started monitoring the Firebrande for any activity to see if anything was happening in there.
