Spectre compile Nov 17-23 (pt 2)

(USS Spectre, Main Shuttlebay, CO, Captain Remae - 22.00)

Shuttles had been ferrying supplies and people back and forth to the new
encampment which someone had named 'New Hope'. One of the spare shuttles
had been sent to scan what it could from low orbit, and finally, the
shuttle runs had finished and the medical teams had what they wanted.

"Ensign Longfellow, this is the Captain. you can start bring the systems
back online now. We need the main computer online as soon as possible.",
said Remae, closing the main hangar door on the small lights that
represented their offloaded crew with their disease.

(Reply from Longfellow)

(USS Spectre, Ready Room, CO, Captain Remae - 22.15)

Remae sat down behind his desk as the full darkness of the planet showed
through his window. Without the stars all around him, he felt a little
lost.

He access his terminal and with the partial main computer back online,
he managed to get a shipwide damage report and he watched carefully
where the damage control teams were working.

Parts of the computer system had failed thanks to the virus overwriting
its instructions but the repair teams were restoring them, one system at
a time and as they completed their task, the systems were restored
online.

"Computer, estimated time of repairs at current rate?", he said opening
a bottle of water from the ration pack they had all taken with them
since the replicators were down.

<< 8 hours >>

"Captain's log, Stardate 2406.03.10:

Meeting the first Nageri ship had cost our more dearly than the others
we met afterwards, the away teams that boarded the living ship were
infected by a type of nanovirus that interferes with all our systems, as
a result, we've set down on a 'M" class planet to make repairs and get
our infected crew to a safer location and away from the Spectre before
it totally succumbs to their infection."

Remae's log was interrupted by a massive creaking noise that was coming
from the Spectre herself, she didn't sound happy to be sitting on her
belly and who could blame her? The sheer weight of the ship on her hull
must have been great, they couldn't stay here for long.

"Where our Romulan protectors have gotten to is anyone's guess, we still
have to work in the assumption that the Xenolithe have a base of
operations in this sector and I promised Admiral LoDona that I would
find it and that's what I intend to do.

End log."

(USS Spectre, Bridge, CO, Captain Remae - 22.45)

"Lt Gort, report?", said Remae walking on the Bridge. It was being
worked on by teams of repair personnel; they seem to have half the ship
in pieces all around him.

The Bajoran let out a yawn and looked down at the Ferengi, realising he
never listened to what the Operations Officer said.

"Lt, I need to get a few hours sleep, you have the Bridge and I will
relive you in 4 hours. all hands, this is the Captain, those of you not
working on vital systems, or can be spared, turn in. report back to your
posts in 4 hours. Captain out.", said Remae, staggering a little before
heading towards the turbolift to turn in.

"At first light, we'll take a shuttle down to 'New Hope' and see how
they are down there, carry on Lt."

He entered the lift and it swiftly took him to his quarters, from that
point on, he never even remembered how he made it to his bed, although
within moments, that's where he was, asleep.

(USS Spectre, Ready Room, CO, Captain Remae - 23.55)

After nearly an hour in bed, Remae had been summoned by Security back to
his Ready Room for the arrival of an unknown Starfleet Officer who had
beamed himself onto the Spectre.

"Ensign Octan Maber, reporting for duty, Sir.", said the fellow Bajoran
passing the CO a PADD. Seeing the ship was cut off from communication to
Starfleet, Remae didn't know anything about this new arrival or what
position he was to fill.

"At ease, Ensign.", said Remae. Despite the lack of sleep he was
functioning sharply, running on caffeine and his own physical endurance,
he'd pay later on for pushing himself too hard.

"It says here that you rushed getting out to the Spectre and were
unwilling to wait for us to return? You got yourself out here at quite a
risk. mind telling me why, Ensign?", said Remae, sitting back in his
chair, waiting for an explanation.

(Maber can fill in somemore of his story here)

Remae rubbed at his eyebrow for a moment as he finished listening to the
Ensign, while he did, he'd access the database and examination the
biography of the new arrival.

"Ensign, we have quite a situation on ship, these reports will bring you
up to speed but basically, we have separated the crew that have been
infected by a type of nanovirus contracted when we came under the attack
from a race known as the Xenolithe. They employ a living ship known as
the Nageri, which are used against their will as a form of slave
labour."

"Starfleet's orders are simple, to investigate the Xenolithe threat in
this system along with the coordination of the Romulan Warbird 'Red
Claw', which we now know to be under the command of Commander Talath, a
brutal Romulan who caused the deaths of many onboard the USS Nimitz
several months ago. Although we think that they don't know that we know
who he is."

Remae passed the PADDs to the Ensign.

"Right now, I am making you Chief Science Officer for the Spectre and I
want you to place the investigation of this technological infection as
your major concern. Please liaise with the Operations Officer, Lt Gort
and our Chief Medical Officer, Lt Cambridge to learn more. In the
morning, I am going down to see the crew who are infected; I want you to
come with me at that time. We've established a small medical facility on
the surface for those infected, as their disease infects all technology
within range."

Remae stood up and began heading for the door.

"Unless you have any questions, Ensign - you're dismissed. I'm back on
duty in 3 hours and the ship won't be fully repaired for at least 6
hours. I'll leave you to organise your department and your duties at
your own discretion."

(Anything else can go here from Maber)

As Remae left the Bridge, he brought anyone there back up to speed of
the new arrival of the CSO, he would have time to brief everyone at
later date, right now, he had to get a few hours sleep.

(USS Spectre, Ready Room, CSO, - 23.55)

"It says here that you rushed getting out to the Spectre and were
unwilling to wait for us to return? You got yourself out here at quite a
risk. mind telling me why, Ensign?", said Remae, sitting back in his
chair, waiting for an explanation.

"Well, Captain," Octan started, already starting to like the other Bajoran's
easy manner, "it's a bit hard to explain. For some reason I just felt the
need to join you as quickly as possible. Also, after finishing the Academy,
the worst thing I could think of was spend a couple of months waiting
at a Starbase. So, here I am."

Octan hoped that would sound plausible. His need to join the Spectre was
far more urgent and deep-seated than that, but until he himself knew
where it was stemming from, he thought being as vague as possible
was the correct course of action.

Luckily, the Captain seemed satisfied with that for now.

"Ensign, we have quite a situation on ship, these reports will bring you
up to speed but basically, we have separated the crew that have been
infected by a type of nanovirus contracted when we came under the attack

several months ago. Although we think that they don't know that we know
who he is."

~Romulan Warbird!~ thought Octan. ~That must be ship the smuggler's sensors
picked up. But if they were assisting the Spectre, why were they so far
away?~

Remae passed the PADDs to the Ensign.

"Right now, I am making you Chief Science Officer for the Spectre and I
want you to place the investigation of this technological infection as
your major concern. Please liaise with the Operations Officer, Lt Gort
and our Chief Medical Officer, Lt Cambridge to learn more. In the

your own discretion."

The door closed as the Captain left Octan alone.

CSO! That would be a challenge! Octan was expecting an OPS or Tactical
assignment. Yet, he was sure he could handle CSO - science has always
been a hobby of his.

~Wait! How did I know that?~ the thought flashed through his head
alarmingly. He just wished he could remember more!

Frustrated, he charged out of the ready room, eager to start his duties,
if only to prevent him from trying to think about his past.

(USS Spectre, Bridge, CSO Ensign(Jg) Octan Maber - 24:00)

Octan strode onto the bridge and headed straight for what he knew to be the
science console, ignoring the bridge personnel.

NRPG: Octan isn't unfriendly, I just have no idea as to who is on the bridge
currently :)

RPG:
"Computer! Please display all records on the current disease infecting
Spectre crewmembers. Specifically, which crewmembers are infected,
nature of the disease, cause and possible solutions so far suggested. Also,
please tell me the locations of Dr Cambridge and Lt Gort"
