On their search, they planted some charges, just in case they could need a gamble. THey were conservative though, since they hadn't much left anymore, 2 grenades each, their rifle, and that was about it if you don't count the charges. Both would have a trigger, set to the same frequency, so that either one could set them off, just in case... They crawled further till they arrived in a small open area, big enough for the 2 grunts and the girl. THey had no idea where they were, but time would know, they wouldn't have to know "Defences ASAP, I don't wanna be caught here." They immediatly put up some traps with their last charges, wich would alert them when anyone unwanted would enter. "Okay, that's done, now to find out where we are exactly, and what to do next." "Well, by the looks of it, it seems like a junction of venting shafts, we should be safe here unless they can track us." "HAH, Like that's ever gonna happen." But both didn't knew what they were about to face. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2406.10.24 (USS Mystique, Deck 15, Cloaking Control, Ensign Mason Garrett, 1410) Ensign Garrett was about to tap his com-badge and contact Lt. Hhril then stopped his fingers short. Garrett and the new Klingon engineer, Bartok, had spent quite some time trying to find the virus program that had been introduced into the cloaking device and came upon a self-propagating sabotage program. Analyzing a compilation report from a series of simulations they had discovered the intrusive program was apparently reaching into several systems throughout the ship's defensive network. "Something else here," Garrett said looking over the reading on his pad for the space of a minute then turned to his console. "Computer identify subspace modulation readings from the simulation compile. What is the source." "The signal is eminating from the Engineering Deck," the computer replied. "'IS eminating,'" Garrett repeated, shocked by the use of present tense. "Computer is the signal being transmitted now." "Affirmative. Subspace modulation reading in simulation compile is presently active in the Engineering Deck." "Then why hasn't anyone detected it," Garrett seethed as he tapped his com-badge. "Ensign Garrett to Lt. Hhril." The computer made a reply as he hailed the lieutent. It said something about information not being available. (Reply: Hhril) "Sir, we have an unauthorized subspace transmission being sent from the Engineering level. It seems to be a beacon of some kind." (Reply: Hhril) "Oddly enough, nobody reported it. We just found the reading in a simulation analysis compile." (Repy:Hhril) "The intrusive program is self-propagating as you believed sir but it appears to be affecting more than just the cloaking system." He looked to Bartok who had the pertinent information on the program, itself. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2406.10.25 (USS Mystique - Some Quarters Somewhere - Civilian Jennah Winters-Dark - 1300) Jennah ducked into a crewmember's quarters. SHe'd snuck out of her room, went through the jeffries tubes, then to a computer panel. She stuck David's scrambler on the computer terminal, pulled on the spider silk gloves and cloak that were her legacy of David, which made her invisible to sensors, then began to type commands into the computer. "Computer, locate Marine Commander Major Richard Lee." =^= Major Lee is on the Bridge.=^= "And how long has he been there?" Jennah asked again, somewhat curiously. =^=3.5 hours.=^= "Excellent. Computer, how many security are between here and Major Lee's crew quarters." =^= 6 =^= "Display them." The 12 year old ordered. She smiled. She could use the tubes most of the way. She nodded to herself. Major Lee was on light duty, and he would come back to a surprise in his quarters, if she was successful. She quickly tapped commands into the replicator and programmed them to come out at Lee's replicator. She then pulled her scrambler off the computer terminal, scampered back into the tubes and down them. She stopped at a hallway, then got out, closing the tube after herself. She lowered the hood of her cloak and walked slowly, the scrambler in her hand hidden. SHe nodded decorously to several crew and then at Major Lee's quarters, looked down the hallway. She put the scrambler on the wall next to the door, and smiled. "Computer, OPEN SESAME!" She spoke, almost an invocation. The doors whooshed open obligingly. Jennah hopped through them, and they shut, as she pulled up her hood. She walked over to the replicator, taking out the white tablecloth, and spreading it over the Major's table. She then took the dozen red roses and put them on the table. Next the replicator mad e awonderful meal, which she kept insidde the small heater units, then she took the bottle of wine and the glass and put them on the table. She lit the candles she'd replicated, then put the music on. She hurried into the bedroom, and turned down the bed, putting a teddy bear there, and on the pillow a single red rose and a note : love, your secret admirer. She giggled and hurried out, knowing Rich would be back in about an hour to a wonderful surprise. She just wished she could see his face. Jennah was mildly intrigued by Herk, too. The hermat had been in their quarters this morning with Nessa, but Jennah didn't want to think too hard about that. The only person she was interested in right now was Rich. Herk might be intriguing,a nd Nessa might enjoy time with ... it.... but Jennah thought it was just wierd. Now...Rich.... Jennah looked over at the chronometer, 1450. Rich would be so surprised! And so Jennah skipped down the hallway humming. She bumped into one of the marines, and looked up at him. It wasn't one she recognized. "Oh, I'm sorry!" She said, looking up at him. Then she sensed elated victory and Jennah screamed. ::HELP!!!:: She screamed telepathically as she screeched and evaded the marines hands. She took off down the hallway with the marine following behind her. "Help me!!" SHe screamed out again. ::Mum, there is an enemy marine after me, I'm on Deck 5, Section C:: She sent on as broad a band as she could, hoping someone would sense her. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2406.10.25 (USS Mystique, Sickbay, Ensign Mason Garrett, 1325) Ensign Garrett entered into the ship's Sickbay the second time since coming aboard five days previously. His first trip was made shortly after the Dian Chang's Marines boarded the Mystique. He'd been barely concious at the time with a small crack in his skull but remembered materializing onto one of the sick beds. As soon as the doors parted, a dark-haired woman moved away from one of the beds where she'd been checking a patient's readings and approached him. "Dr. Trommashere," he greeted her. "I remember seeing you on the bridge and again here in Sickbay." Garrett offered a friendly and grateful handshake as he spoke. (Reply: Trommashere) "Ensign Mason Garrett." He felt as if he were being as formal as a Vulcan and quickly added. "I was one of many patients you treated after the attack." (Reply: Trommashere) "I came by to see if I could borrow a couple of surgical stints to keep my eyelids propped up for a few more hours," Garrett said, attempting a little medical humor. "But if you can't spare them, I'll settle for a small stimulant dose. I'm on duty until 1700 unless we fall into another emergency. My adrenaline pump has cooled down somewhat, so I could use a little reserve energy." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2406.10.25 (USS Mystique, Sickbay- Ensign Angeni O. Windsong-Trommashere, 1327) Angeni was working silently in the still quiet of sickbay. She was noting several things down on her notepad to record into her PADD for the patient later. The rush of the doors startled her slightly, and she turned around to see one of her former patients behind her. She greated him with a bright smile on her face, and she shook his hand, returning with a gentle squeeze. "Why yes, I remember you...you were the one with the skull fracture. No need for formalities...I never much like the usage of the prefix doctor from my patients, so this should be no different. My name is Angeni, feel free to call me that...if you wish of course." A bright blush started to rise up from her neck, and she ducked her head, trying to hide it as well as she could. A nervous laugh escaped from her throat as she heard him mention the splints, and she reached into a drawer and pulled one out...a very large one...definately not suited for what he asked. "Well Ensign...If you think you can get your lids around this....then by all means use it..." She laughed as she gestured to an empty biobed, and she pulled out a hypo spray and checked it. It was a sedative...so she changed the vials and held the hypo spray in her hand. She held it tightly for some reason, and she blushed, giggling softly as she spoke. "Uhm...well...uhm...if you'd like...as long as no emergencies arise and such things...maybe you'd like to join me for a drink or...something...or maybe you can just show me around the ship...outside of the jeffries tubes above the cargo bay, here, and the bridge, I really haven't gotten a chance to see too much of the ship....and I certainly wouldn't know where to start..." She flushed even brighter as she used the hypo spray, and she set it on a nearby table, making a mental note to replace the sedative vial at a later point. "So...first off, feel any better? Secondly, how does the idea sound to you?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stardate: 2406.10.25 (USS Mystique - Bridge - Capt Vanyssa Winters - 1420) Vanyssa had gotten the report that many of the ships systems were back online, and shields were at full strength. However, phasers were still offline, the power relay had very little redundancy and several of the torpedo launchers were still offline. ~But we have Warp power again.~ She said happily, initializing a report on the repairs. "captain, Akira class ship decloaking." Vanyssa stood up. "Identity USS Dian Chang." Someone else said. "Shields up, Red alert, everyone to battle stations. Hail the Night's Watch and find out what Lee's plan is." Vanyssa was glad she had planted her feet in a good stance as the ship rocked. She listened to the tactical report. No more damage. "Make sure we don't have a repeat of last time, Rich, are you ready ?" Vanyssa sighed. "Hhril, loose your program." Vanyssa ordered. They were going to catch that spy if it destroyed the ship. Rich tapped buttons on the tactical console, "Lee to all security and Marine forces, deploy for anti-boarding." (reply: any security) On board the Night's Watch, Captain Lee folded the arm-rests against his leg. "Status?" he asked. "Sir, we are cloaked and Mystique is hailing us. The Chang is moving in on attack vector." Rich folded his fingers together, "Move us behind them, don't answer the Mystique, ready all weapons and shields." He tapped a couple buttons into his computer, "And tap the Mystique, I want to know what's going on." "We're being hailed by the Dian Chang." "Surprise, Surprise. Onscreen, Dema. Mirror the transmission to the Night's Watch." Vanyssa was a little surprised that the Night's Watch hadn't decloaked yet, and hadn't answered he hail. As the bridge of the Mystique came on the screen Captain Jaelle let a relaxed smile creep over her face; she knew she held all the cards in this encounter. "Captain Winters, so we meet again and your ship much the worse for wear it seems. Have you reconsidered your stance since our last meeting? Please don't force me to damage your ship further." Vanyssa tried hard not to laugh. "I am sure that you already know the answer to that, Captain Jaelle. By the way, your surprise of marines was not unpredicted. Thank you for the present." And Vanyssa smiled. "We're behind them, Sir, 1000 kilometers off the stern" Rich leaned back in the chair, "De-cloak the ship, full power to weapons and shields, and target the Chang's weapons and engines." All around him, the Night's Watch powered up as she dropped cloak. Rich cracked his knuckles; his grin was predatory, evil. "Open a channel." He said a moment later. "This is the USS Night's Watch to the Dian Chang. We have you in sights, so unless you think you can take on a Keltoi class ship. much less a Keltoi and an Akira, I would surrender while you're still ahead of the game." Captain Jaelle looked to her tactical officer and the look on his face told her all she needed to know, he moved his head in the direction of the viewscreen and her eyes followed to see that a Keltoi had indeed uncloaked. Jaelle stifled an expletive as the screen wavered and the bridge of the Night's Watch came into view. She made a mute signal and turned toward Lt. Hummel. "On my signal Lt. I want this ship cloaked and Mr. Carol I want warp 4 at a turn of 85 degrees mark 3." She listened to the replies of her bridge crew then signaled for OPS to restore the sound. "I seem to find myself in an interesting situation, to whom am I speaking on the Night's Watch?" Jaelle's eyes were sparkling at the challenge. Rich smiled gently, "You're better, Captain." Without warning he held up his hand and chopped down savagely. As previously ordered, the Watch's weapons batteries opened up on the Chang's weapons and engines. A full spread of photon and quantum torpedoes impacted hard on the aft portions of the ship, while Type XII phasers struck almost at random over the shields. It was savage, it was flashy, and it was effective. "'Watch to the Mystique, withdrawal immediately or join in the fight, just don't get killed Captain Winters." He half-turned, "Status?" "Damn it! Initiate manuever now!" Jaelle shouted as the ship was repeatedly rocked by the torpedoes and the phasers. As the Dian Chang cloaked and began to accelerate into its turn more torpedoes flashed and sparks showered from the conduits overhead. The ship was being violently buffeted by the attack. "Captain! Shields down to 63%, #2 phaser is off line and torpedo launcher number two has taken damage." "Fire a full spread from the rear launcher number four, slow the Watch down!" She said calming now. ~Who the hell was that bastard?~ She thought as her ship tried to get away, the Mystique was forgotten for now. Rich rocked as several torpedoes struck his bow, He wondered if he should take it as a personal affront, sticking torpedoes up the Watch's nose wasn't a kind act. "Shields at 95%, the Chang is leaking plasma!" That made Lee perfectly happy. "Follow that plasma trail, lash out with everything, I want that ship out of cloak!" He turned his head by reflex as the ship shook again, he'd had too many panels burst in his face not too... but so far, there wasn't any issue with that. Having two layers of multi-rotational, regenerative shields, made for fine cover when you already had the enemy ship on the run. Several phaser-blots missed hitting anything, apparently because the enemy craft was in evasive maneuvers. However, several good and powerful shots struck the ship, causing the aft half of her to decloak. Rich didn't need his tactical officer to say "their cloak is failing!" to know what was happening. "Engines!" Rich bellowed, "Stop em cold!" "Captain! Rear cloak failing and rear shields down to 18%!" Captain Jaelle half rose from her chair as the ship shuddered again. "Shut down the cloak, Turn us about now and give that ship everything we've got!" As the The Dian Chang turned she heard. "We've lost rear shields and the engines have sustained some damage Captain" "Fire torpedoes and phasers!" The torpedo launchers of a Akira class are a wonder to behold but with #2 down and a phaser bank lost she knew it wouldn't be enough. The red alert flashing reminded her of another detail but she held off for the moment, time would tell if the Watch was intent on destroying them.... or taking the ship intact. On the screen she could see the Watch taking the hits but it kept coming just as she knew it would. "Divert power to the forward shields, she's going to hit us hard!" "Coming around and targeting!" "Evasive maneuvers, go for her weapons!" Rich bellowed. IT wasn't quite soon enough, several solid torpedo impacts shook the ship, though she resolutely shook off the attacks and flew on. The Night's Watch was a combat vessel; this was what she excelled in. And the enemy ship had just made such a pretty target of herself... Rich bolted up from the chair and made a fist, "FIRE!" A half dozen quantum torpedoes made a blue streak through space before splitting off from each other and striking a half dozen different targets. One of them struck engineering head on, followed rapidly by a zero-deflection phaser shot. The Chang, which had been in the middle of some sort of break-neck evasive maneuver, suddenly lost all power to engines and completely lost attitude control due to inertia. Rich watched her flat-spin sideways in space, slowly revolving away from the battle-field. It wasn't a sight that someone saw often, federation starships didn't typically spin in that manner. Had the engines not quit, it would have been an impressive maneuver, Rich mentally tipped his hat to the Conn officer. "She's still on primary power, but her engines are dead, Sir. They are firing thrusters in an attempt to stall the flat spin." Came a call from Operations. Rich reviewed the situation for a few moments, it would take time to counter a full impulse-induced spin. "She's dead in space." The Tactical officer followed a moment later, "Our shields at 56% and regenerating, minor damage to the dish and deck 5 forward." Lee sat back down in his chair and actually barked a quick laugh. "Good God, she literally bloodied our nose!" It was gall! ows humor, it struck Rich as funny, though no one else laughed though. "Keep weapons trained on her and open a channel." A second passed, "Dian Chang, you are dead in the water.Stand down your weapons, or Ill take your ship apart a slice at a time until you surrender." He said coldly over the channel. The Dian Chang took several massive hits, Jaelle felt each one as though it were a personal blow, several seconds after the last detonation had thrown her to the deck she felt the change in the inertial dampeners and knew something had gone terribly wrong. Smoke had begun to fill the bridge from a burning OPS panel and she heard someone coughing as they tried to put out the fire. Time seemed to have slowed down or was it her, she put her hand to her head and it hurt. Had she hit something as she went down? She looked up at the viewscreen and the starfield appeared to be spinning, she shook her head and winced as it began to ache. "Captain, we have lost engines." Called out Lt. Jenkins her Operations officer. "Someone make some adjustments on the viewscreen." She ordered. "It appears to be in a fixed loop." She heard someone come up behind her and a tricorder began to hum. "Captain we are in a spin." Jenkins spoke from nearby this time. "Manuvering thrusters are being used to stop the spin Captain but the ship is dead. We have no warp engines, the shields and auxiliary generators are down as is the cloak and power for the phasers is down 62%. We have limited quantum torpedo capability as well. Orders Captain?" ~No warp engines and impulse power only? Not good. ~ She thought. "How is the Night's Watch?" "We bloodied her a bit Captain but her shields are powering up and her weapons systems are still functional." David Jenkins came into view as the medic helped her to her feet. "I am afraid ! Captain that we have been beaten." "Captain a hail is incoming from the Night's Watch." She heard the call and took a moment to compose herself after she had taken her seat before replying. "Onscreen." When the battle had begun, Vanyssa had ordered them backed off, and remarkably the Dian Chang had not followed. ~I suppose she's got her hands full with Lee, but...~ As Vanyssa listened to the reports, she felt a mild surge of elation as the words that the Chang was dead in the water. "Hhril, how is that program going? DO we know who our mole is yet?" She said quietly. (reply Hhril) Back when the Night's Watch had first arrived, what seemed like hours before, The Watch had used it's sensors to scan the Mystique, and with the help of Hhril and one of the Ops Officers there, they had found where the marines had holed up. Vanyssa had allowed them freedom, in order to see what happened when the confrontation happened between the Chang and the Myste. Predictably, another life form had joined them. Vanyssa turned to Lee and nodded. "Go get them." She said. They had found the mole, and would capture the marines. The ship would be safe. She leaned forward slightly, listening to the banter going on between the two Captains. Jaelle heard the man deliver his words in a menacing tone and looked coldly at him, this man had proven to be treacherous but he was holding his ship back from destroying them which was only mildly surprising at the moment. She knew she had lost this battle, his unexpected attack had given him the tainted victory and she knew she shouldn't feel like she was a failure... but it was very hard at the moment. "I am quite aware of the status of my vessel," she replied just as coldly, or at least tried. As he turned slightly as though to give an order she spoke quickly to her tactical officer. "Stand down on weapons Lt Hummel, take phasers and torpedoes off line." There was a dead silence on the bridge at her order except for the tones of the buttons he was pressing to carry out her order. No one it seemed was happy with the situation but she knew they didn't want to commit suicide either, and at any rate she wouldn't have let them, they would either sit out the war or have another chance at him later. Her next words were hard to speak but necessary. "I am surrendering this vessel to you Night's Watch. I expect my crew to be treated with due respect." Rich tapped his fingers, and then tapped a button that killed all sound on the transmission. "Send the forces, now." He leaned back for a moment as the order was confirmed; Marines and Security both would be beaming over within moments to secure the ship... Rich planned on taking no chances. He watched, in fact, as a squad of Security beamed onto the bridge fully geared to do battle, phasers up and ready. "Report any difficulties." He said to the tactical officer before Turning the feed back on. "As you can see, Captain, we've boarded your vessel. Tell your crew to stand down, and they will be given better treatment then you people gave the Mystique." His tone was ice, he was taking no argument, he was perfectly prepared to give the Chang the exact same treatment the Mystique had gotten... if necessary. His only orders were to retrieve The ship itself intact. After the invasion of the Mystique and the needless death they had caused on her, Rich wasn't in a charitable mood for the Chang's crew. Captain Jaelle looked coldly at the security officer who had materialized on her bridge, ~Correct that their bridge now~ then looked toward the viewscreen and then punched the ship wide intercom. "This is the Captain. I have surrendered this vessel to the Night's Watch. Stand down from red alert and give the boarders no resistance. Jaelle out." She then spoke to her counterpart on the Keltoi class. "I have done as you requested. They will offer no resistance." Rich sat back in his chair as the channel cut off, "Prepare the rest ofThe teams, beam them to any areas of difficulty, and resolve the problems by any means necessary." He paused, "And immediately begin transferring off crew, prepare cargo bay 3 for prisoners. Once we have most of them, send over a prize crew and engineering teams. I want that Captain on the Watch within ten minutes, we have much to discuss." The tactical officer nodded, "Aye Sir." That left only one thing, "Open a channel to the Mystique." A couple Seconds passed, and then his Operations officer reported a channel open. Rich took a moment, and then said. "Night's Watch to Mystique, situation resolved, the Dian Chang is ours." "Thank you, Captain Lee. I believe we will have four more prisoners for you shortly." Vanyssa stated simply. "Do you need assistance in securing the Chang?" The offer was expected, but under the circumstances, Vanyssa did not have the available forces to help. What she really wanted and needed was to get the away team back. She missed them. And she wanted to have a long talk with Riven. "Negative, Captain, we have her. I will expect your guests shortly, Watch out." Vanyssa sat back and waited for Lee to report success. She wanted this whole episode over with. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2406.10.25 (USS Mystique - Bridge - TAC officer Ryan Casey - 1426) There was a big commotion on the bridge cause the Dian Chang was back, a lot of planning and thinking was happening while people were watching every move of the enemy akira. Then the Captain spoke to Tactical, only, she thought Dema was there. "Surprise, Surprise. Onscreen, Dema. Mirror the transmission to the Night's Watch." Ryan, who was sitting at tactical, did like he was told and then turned around and faced the Captain. "Captain, Ensign Dema isn't found yet." Faces seemed disturbed by what he said, the Captain probably wasn't thinking straight... or was it out of habit? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2406.10.25 (USS Mystique - Bridge - CO Captain Winters - 1453) ::HELP!!!:: Vanyssa bolted straight up in her seat. ::Jennah??:: Vanyssa sent, while she began to bark orders, "Computer locate Jennah Winters-Dark" =^= Jennah Winters-Dark can not be found. =^= ::Mum, there is an enemy marine after me, I'm on Deck 5, Section C:: Vanyssa turned to tactical. "Get security teams to Deck 5, Section C. Put up force fields around that area and converge." She ordered. She turned to Hhril. "Jennah is being pursued by an enemy marine. Get down there." She hit her comm badge, "Lee one of them is after Jennah, Deck 5 Section C" ::Jennah, stop running, there are force fields up.:: Vanyssa sent to her daughter. "Oo'lish, where was your marine??" Vanyssa demanded of her bodyguard. "If anything has happened to her, I'll gut your marine myself." The Captain declared on her own Bridge. She knew exactly what the Bridge crew was thinking. The thought of losing her last relative ripped into Vanyssa. ::Owwwwww, get off of me!:: Jennah screamed as the enemy marine tackled her to the floor. "Lee hurry!" Vanyssa cried out hitting her comm badge again as her link with Jennah went dead. "She's unconscious." Vanyssa said, slinking back into the chair and putting her head in her hands. "Sickbay, prepare for a patient, my daughter is unconscious." Vanyssa leaned back in the chair and began yet another waiting game. What could have possessed Jennah to leave her Quarters and go galivanting about the ship? She should have known better. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2406.10.25 (USS Mystique - Sick Bay - Ensign Angeni O. Windsong Trommashere- 1454) Angeni sat back in her chair, closing her eyes for a moment. She unziped the front of her uniform jacket, the grey shirt underneith sopped with sweat. She looked around, and laughed to herself: in the corner were her bags. She quickly ducked behind one of the partitions, changing her shirt and brushing her long raven colored tresses as she stared into the mirror. It had been two...or three days since she had been on the ship, and she hadn't slept one bit of it. She wanted to make sure her patients left sick bay as healthy as possible...and she still wanted to keep watch over Dr. Weir. She wandered back into the office, the pneumatic doors wooshing shut behind her. ~Wow...three solid days on this ship...maybe when Dr. Markstein comes back, I'll finally go to my quarters and rest a bit...but for now...a little nap shouldn't hurt too much...~ Angeni sat back down in the chair, calling out in a soft, tired voice. "Computer, dim lights in the Doctors' office...play...the softest Mozart you can find...thank you..." As the lights dimmed, and the music came on, she put a small dream catcher on the desk, and closed her eyes. She sat in reflective thought about everything around her...even through it all, she still had fun. ~Maybe I should find someone and head to the bar...I'll do that after I check on my patients...Major Lee especially, he seems to be doing well after everything...heck...maybe I should just ask him...not like I know many other people here...~ She closed her eyes, and slowly slipped off to dream land, but as she slept...something creeped into her mind... ~Voice...Daughter? Daughter hurt?...~ She opened her eyes, blinking quickly, trying to take in what she had just heard, then it all sank in, and her heart dropped into the pit of her stomach. She jumped out of her chair, running over everything she had heard. ~Sick bay, prepare for a patient, my daughter is unconsious...~ Even though she had been on the ship only a few days, she knew Vanyssa's voice well...she had heard that tone before in the voices of the mothers of the children she took care of at Johns Hopkins...but...those were the cases that eluded her...by the time a child came to her practice...she couldn't think about it...this was new, she had to do this no matter what...her Captain's daughter. Grabbing her uniform jacket, she put it on and ran out into sick bay, into the main "trauma room". She prepared everything and more, and she tapped her comm badge, trying to remain as calm as possible. =/\= Ensign Trommashere to Captain Winters, I am ready in sick bay...=/\= She thought about it for a moment, then she tapped her comm badge again. =/\= Ensign Trommashere to Dr.Markstein...could you come to sick bay immediately...we have a serious patient on the way, and I'm going to need all the help I can get...=/\= She didn't know what the new doctors' specialty was...nor did she care. Medicine was about team work...saving lives took as many people as possible...one eye may see a new and better way of doing something than an eye that has been doing it for a while. Suddenly, a pang of nervousness struck her in the back of the head...she was always the team leader when it came to a surgery back home...but this could be completely different. For all she knew, Dr. Markstein could've been the surgical team leader, and as she saw personally thoughout her surgeries at home...two strong headed leaders working over the same patient never went over well, and always ended up in a fight. ~I just have to let go if she was...I gotta step back...I can't quibble over a patient...I never have, never will...that's not just me...~ Angeni started sterilizing her hands, priming the gauges on her tricorder, and setting up a full set of hypos, filled with every solution she could think of, then she set up a tray for Dr. Markstein, trying not to order it the way she ordered hers, but at least set it up so that it was there. She stood next to the table, waiting, her heart pounding in her chest... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2406.10.25 (USS Mystique - Bridge - Richard Ian Lee - 1455) Rich tapped the shoulder of his tactical relief, "Ill be in Engineering." Hesaid. He itched to join in the chase, but after his injury, he would havebeen shot by each of the doctors if he had gone crawling through tubeslooking to get himself shot up more. It was d*mned annoying, sitting on thebridge, getting progress reports as teams of security and Marines crawled through the ship. At least the Watch had gotten the base locations of the traitors, before cloaking and readying for battle. There was that at least, it gave them a place to start and sections to cordon off. He stepped into a turbolift after being relieved, "Main Engineering." The lift started, Rich leaned against one of the walls and sighed. He would look forward to a long rest, he was going to need it after all this. =^=Lee one of them is after Jennah, Deck 5 Section C=^= "Halt lift, Deck 5 section C!" Lee pulled his phaser. He snarled, thinking about everything that could go wrong. How had they gotten through the cordon? How had any of them gotten through... and what the HELL was that girl doing down there? =^=Lee hurry!=^= Rich didn't answer as the doors to the turbolift opened up, he was out of it like a bat-out-of-hell, light duty be d*mned. He skid around one corner, looking. Finally, he stopped in his tracks and lowered his head. Section C was large, they could be anywhere. Finally, after several long agonizing seconds, he heard a grunt. Rich wasted no more time; he took off in the direction of the sound. He came upon a scene he didn't want to ever see. Jenna was being dragged into toward a Jefferies Tube, probably to hide her. For the moment, at least, surprise was Lee's. He didn't take the time to stop and shoot, too much could go wrong in that extra couple seconds. Instead, he rammed the b*stard with his full 300 pound bulk and sent the man sprawling. Lee tumbled as well and slammed into a bulkhead, his side ached fiercely as the recently healed tissues tore. With a growl, Rich pointed with the phaser and took a shot, knocking the offending Marine headlong yet again with a full stun shot. "Lee to Security, get a team on my signal. Lee to sickbay, get a medical team down here stat." He crawled over to Jenna and pushed back her hair so he could get at her neck, and felt for a pulse. It was still there, she was yet alive. He let out a breath and shook his head, "Girlie, we gotta talk later." He stood up with a grunt and put a hand on his side, and his phaser on the prisoner. One down. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2406.10.25 (USS Mystique - Deck 5 section C - Marine James - 1456) James took the risk to walk in the hallways of the ship, since a lot a security and marines were chasing him and Dickenson down in the tubes. He made sure no one would see him, crawled out and walked as if nothing was happening. Then suddenly, a little girl bumped into him. ~Excellent, that's the Captain's daughter~. He grabbed at her but she was pretty fast and dodged out while she screeched pretty loudly. The girl ran away, yelling for help. He took his fastest option and stunned her with his rifle. He picked her up to run away, but it seems forcefield were set up. ~Damn, how did they know it this fast?~ He quickly opened a hatch to a tube, and dragged the girl inside. Seconds later he heard stomping feet heading his way, he turned around, pointing his phaser towards the sound, but before he could fire, he saw a huge figure heading his way ~Bigfoot?~, he got rammed, and this tossed him through the air, and made him loose his rifle. He landed a few feet further. He stood up as fast as he could to counter-attack, since the guy seemed hurt. He growled, the enemy too, but he fired his phaser. "No fair." And the last thing he was, him the floor closing in on him...... Dark. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2406.10.25 (USS Night's Watch - Bridge - Capt Richard Ian Lee - 1510) Rich sat back in his chair, leaning on his left arm and playing with his upper lip while deep in thought. On the screen, the recently stabilized enemy Akira floated free in space. It had been another victory, bought at great cost and won by subterfuge, but a victory none-the-less. The only problem was, it was going to be one of the last they would ever win like this. Once it became apparent that lone-wolf ships wouldn't succeed, Doenitz would begin sending Wolf-packs. Tactical Wings would be far harder to deal with; they would nibble at the 52nd until she was dead. "Sir," Rich continued in his line of thought, ignoring the voice for a few. His officers has learned to leave him alone when he was introspective, the speaker waited silently for several long moments until Rich turned his eyeballs to the side. "XO," he finally acknowledged. "Sir, half the crew is aboard our ship under heavy guard; our prize crew is onboard and bringing necessary systems up for her transit to Phoenix." "Very good, you have command of her XO." Rich straightened up and leaned back. "We will run shotgun for you. How long until you're ready to depart Commander?" "Ten hours, give or take, if we want to get moving without the cloak. That will take another couple more." "That works." Rich said after a few seconds of thought. "See to it." He folded his hands together and sat back in the chair. This wasn't how it had been during the Dominion Wars, in a time and place far from here. Then, they had a determined enemy and near infinite resourcefulness, but they were the ENEMY, there was no doubt about who to fire on... no moral second-guessing, no dissenters. This... this was a civil war; they were firing on their own. Granted, most of the ships in the brawl right now were well affiliated with Doenitz and meant them all nothing but harm... but what about later, when duped Captain's went to war thinking LoDona and his cadre were nothing more then dirty traitors? It would get harder then, when the 52nd faced crews who were literally doing their duty. He folded his hands together behind his head and sat back again. ~Mystery Train.~ The Captain, whose primary job was Strategic Ops in the fleet, mused over the ramifications of the attack on the Mystique and what had been learned by the enemy MCO. He wasn't adverse to the tactics the Captain had used, though he wished she had kept the bugger alive for further questioning. It was something he would mention to her for future reference. Although it bugged him, none of the Captain's in the fleet was clean anymore. All of them had stains brought on by this civil war... He shrugged the thought away and drug his mind back to the Mystery Train. Project Mystery Train, as it were, didn't ring any bells with him... neither had it struck a cord with anyone in Stratops. There were a few other people he had to talk to however, people who had their fingers in a lot of different pies over the years. Whatever it was, it didn't sit well on Rich's stomach. The MCO had used the term in reverence, which meant it was going to help him kill his enemies... Marines rarely revered anything less. After a bit of musing he shook his head and rubbed his eyes. Woolgathering would get him no-where, he needed more information. "Open a channel to the Mystique." He said. "Channel open, Sir." "Nights Watch to the Mystique, status report?" ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2406.10.25 (USS Mystique - Sickbay - Jennah Winters-Dark - 1525) Jennah woke up in sickbay with a splitting headache and a desire to throw up. She also woke up to her mother, Rich and Oo'lish glaring down at her, as well as Ms. Angeni and Miss Kelitta off to the side. "Uhhh...." Jennah said softly, as Miss Angeni helped her sit up. Jennah realized that Vanyssa looked angry, somewhat disgusted and like she had been through a battle zone. Rich was on the biobed next to her, with Miss Kelitta working on his side, which was all torn up again. "I suppose that you have a good reason for being where you were and NOT in your quarters under two marine guards which was where you were supposed to be ?" Vanyssa demanded. Jennah just looked down, somewhat sheepishly. "Uhhhh...." Jennah tried to think of something to say that would make her mother happier, distract her, while she tried to come up with a solution...of some kind. "Well?" Vanyssa demanded looking over at Lee. "Oo'lish says that your bodyguards thought you were in your Quarters, that you told them you were going to sleep." Vanyssa's blue eyes were flashing dangerously. "And just where did you get this cloak and gloves?" She demanded. "They were David's!" Jennah retorted, angry and mad at her mom for questioning her. "I didn't steal them! David said they were from before he joined starfleet, from mars." "And this?" Vanyssa said, holding up the small scrambler. "Was this David's too? Do you realize that the Nimitz's marine quartermaster got into trouble when this couldn't be found?" Vanyssa remembered the incident very well. David had been very upset by it, Starfleet marine scramblers shouldn't be left laying around. Vanyssa grabbed Jennah's arm, almost causing her to throw up as she shoved Jennah's face into Lee's wound. "And look what your galivanting caused the Major. I need him at full strength, Jennah, I don't need him hurting himself rescuing little girls where they don't belong." "And what were you supposed to do? Leave me on Betazed? Devon wouldn't've let you. At least if I were on Betazed I would be dead like Grandmere and Kat, right ?" Jennah retorted. "Betazed wasn't safe, this place isn't safe. The only place that was was the Nimitz. I miss it, and I hate this place. There's no one here, and everyone keeps trying to kill us, just so you can fight your holy war against a man that we can't defeat. We're all going to die for the Admiral's holy crusade, Nessa." Jennah was at this moment, too ashamed to call Vanyssa her Mom. "But you don't care about all that. Your a Captain now, you can do whatever you want. Well I can too." ::That's enough.:: Vanyssa said, switching to telepathic speech. This was quite embarrassing. A Captain that couldn't command her own child, let alone a ship. ::Well it's true isn't it?? All you care about is sleeping your way among the staff, you never cared about David or Devon at all. After all, it wasn't that long after David died that you were in Devon's bed, and now, what? Herk, Hhril and Ketal? Who next?:: ::Jennah...:: Vanyssa said quietly, her eyes growing misted at how much she really did miss David. "You never loved David at all, all you do is use people to get what you want. I hate you and I hate this ship." Jennah tried to get off the bio bed, but found that she couldn't, there was a force field around it. "So now I'm a prisoner too?" ::Stop it.:: Vanyssa sent, ignoring the startled looks that others were giving her. ::We do not air private business in public? That was one of David's first rules, yes?:: ::yes...:: came the grudging reply. Over the comm came Herk's voice. =^= Captain, the away team is requesting permission to dock, also the Watch is requesting a status report.=^= Vanyssa kept one eye on her daughter, and tapped her comm badge. "Give them permission to dock, and appraise the Watch of the latest developments. Tell the away team that I would like to debrief them in thirty minutes, in my Ready Room." =^= Aye Sir =^= Vanyssa turned back to Jennah. "Doctor, how much longer till she is recovered?" (reply Angeni) "And Major Lee?" (reply Angeni) "Major, when you are recovered, please meet me in my ready room. Oo'lish, I would like you to speak with my daughter's guards, please put the fear of god into them." Vanyssa turned back to Jennah. (reply Oo'lish, Lee) "When the Doctor says that you can leave sickbay, you are to have her call your bodyguards, then they will escort you back to our quarters, and you WILL stay there. Understand?" "Yes, Captain." The little girl said sullenly. Vanyssa tried very hard not to let it show how much it really did bother her. "Good. We'll talk about this as soon as I can." Vanyssa turned and strode from sickbay as the first of the away team was brought in. She turned back in concern, catch Bellinia by the arm. "As soon as you are checked out, I want you and your team in my Ready Room. Understand, Commander?" (reply Bellinia) Vanyssa turned and headed for the bridge, her heart aching. She didn't catch Riven's look, nor the other Counsellor's, both of whom had walked in on Jennah's temper tantrum. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stardate: 2406.10.25 (USS Mystique - Sickbay - Ensign Angeni O. Windsong Trommashere - 1527) Angeni stood behind the commotion, not wanting to get involved. A similar incident happened to her when she was a child, probably not much older than Jennah was. Her eyes wandered down to the hypo spray in her hand, and she held it tightly. Her eyes practically jumped out of their sockets as she watched Vanyssa shove Jennah's face near the Major's wound, and her mouth opened to form a word of some sort, but she closed her mouth again almost immediately. She didn't want to get involved in anything, so she figured staying quiet and back was her best bet. She heard the spiteful words coming from Jennah's mouth, and she sighed inwardly...she hated to see mums and daughters in such discourse, but...it happened as she all too well knew. She heard Vanyssa's voice float in with a question, and she blinked for a second, pondering. "I'd like a night of observation...just to make sure she doesn't have any residual effects from the head injury...standard procedures is all. Major Lee is going to be here for a while, I'm thinking at least two days' observation and at least another three off of duty. I don't know how many more hits he can take of that caliber without it causing severe and lasting damage. Long term prognosis for the Major...I'm suggesting very light duty for a while...after that...only time will tell..." After Vanyssa left, she looked over Jennah, and then removed the forcefield, and leaned in, hugging the girl tight. She then let her go, keeping one arm around her, lest she try something slick. "Jennah...how are you feeling? Does your head hurt or anything of the like?" (Reply Jennah) "I doubt I should say this...but...Jennah...your mum is trying hard. It's not easy to run a star ship and take care of a child at the same time...but she's doing a marvelous job...seeing the way you've grown up and such. When you're older, you'll see it truly...but...give her some credit and take it easy on her...she's doing the best she can...and trying to do better by you...now...", Angeni leaned in, kissing the girl on her forehead and smoothing her hair out a bit. "If you ever need someone to hang out with and talk to...you know where to find me. Now...close your eyes and get some rest..." With that, Angeni stepped back to the office where she could monitor her patients. She looked up at the ceiling with tired eyes, "Computer, dim lights in sick bay, but keep the main lights on above biobeds one and two...thank you." She watched the lights dim, both Jennah and Major Lee standing out due to the bright lights above them. Angeni sat in the chair, blinking back tiredness as she watched both her patients and the computers they were connected to. ~Ugh...I never realized I'd feel this way...so tired yet...so full of energy...weird...very very weird...~ Settling down in the chair, Angeni began copying files over from written notes onto PADDs for each one, and worked away until she was finished. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- End Compile
