“Go with the marines. I will make my way back on foot.”
"What? And leave you to hike all that way by yourself?" Hammons gave a
guffaw. He had placed the case inside the rover where it was nestled cozily
into a corner. "It's only 8 or 10 kilometers and I've got plenty of charge
on my suit." He patted the rover to get the driver's attention then
motioned for him to go.

"Eh! Don't get your knickers in a twist..." Steven fell into step beside
the Brikarian, "... I'm not ignoring orders, just taking an alternate form
of transportation."
(Reply: Dogan)
"Aww, come on Lieutenant. That ended well and besides, why make a valiant
last stand when you had so much backup anyway? I mean security and
marines... come on."
(Reply: Dogan)
Hammons chuckled and began looking around at the broken terrain pockemarked
by steaming fissures. The land didn't lack character certainly. The CO2
atmosphere was compounded by the thermal vents but it was certain that in a
couple of million years the planet might warm enough due to the greenhouse
effect to allow the vegetation to spread which might eventually result in
an oxygen rich world and the evolution of higher forms of life... if mining
the planet for oricalcum didn't disrupt it's natural evolution of course.
