Mission: Exogenesis

Day: 4

Stardate: 2446.06.04

(USS Hillary - Passenger Deck - CEO - Lieutenant Lg Tegian Pex - 1009)

"Doctor,” The Trill voice called softly to her, “If we move the Commander
back to The Pasteur, do you think you can keep him there? I don't think
he's quite alright. And he keeps looking at the rash on his hand which has
gotten worse since the last time I saw it."

Tegian could never seem to get on the right side of Doctor Solice. He'd
never been what you could consider a people person, but for some reason, he
always set her off. And this seemed like it was going to be more of the
same. He saw it in her eyes and he mentally sighed before she let him have
it.

“Lt, what a brilliant idea. Why did not think of that over the last hour
that he has been on the Pasteur? Does the Commander need medical
attention? Wow, I wish I had thought of that. Thanks for letting me
know. Do you know why he is acting this way? He has Carbon Dioxide
poisoning from taking off his mask. His body is not filtering out the CO2
as quickly as I think it should be. And before you tell me that I need to
give him Oxygen, I have been. I have opted not to sedate him because the
best way for him to intake oxygen is to be awake. As for the rash, that
too is not clearing. I need more sophisticated equipment to run the tests
to figure out this conundrum but we are caught in an ion storm that
currently has us grounded. I hope you can understand.”

Tegian wondered when he'd be able to talk down to people like this and
decided that no matter what, he'd never do it. "Yes, Doctor. I was
unaware he had removed his mask, but he was acting oddly before he left The
Hillary to drive around in the Rover while singing songs. He barked at
Ensign Khatri when she showed concern for his rash. I wasn't aware this
was all due to his CO2 levels. It seems like it started before then. But,
I do understand that with the equipment here, you can't do a proper
investigation into the cause of the illnesses. Are all the marines back?
Could we ask them to keep an extra eye on the patients to make sure none of
them stray in their condition?"
