(USS Illuminar - Deck 14 - Brig - Counselor/ Bondmate - Temas Laredo - 1305)


“I’m thirty-six, I’ve reached the ‘exercise your demons’ stage of my life. And that involves listening them.” He said, taking another bite of the meal. “Between the orphanage and the things I’ve seen out there, I’m afraid the list is long.”



Temas listened to Alex talk about his demons. It was way too early in the process to broach that. He opened the flask and poured some lemonade into a glass for himself and then into a glass for Alex and offered it to him.


“Sounds like you’ve had quite a life,” Temas said. He was going to have to be patient here and wait for the right question to present itself.


Alex went on to talk a pair how he had lived a nomadic lifestyle and learned “all he could in the civilian field.”


“So you were ready for a more stable lifestyle?” he asked.


“I’m not going to lie,” Alex explained, ”I’m still getting used to being part of a Fleet. The ships I served on operated alone. We had to survive alone, depend on ourselves. It was do or die. And do it by yourself.” He scratched his beard again. “I guess I might be stuck in that mindset.”


Temas nodded, “Well that admission, in and of itself, is a great step in the right direction.  So how do we get you unstuck?”

“I’d like to talk with about Kelly,” Temas said, “if you don’t mind.”


(reply Dyson)


“You’ve gotten very close to her, very quickly,” he observed. “It seems to be a pattern with you, don’t you think. Why do think that is?”
