Mission: Big Trouble in Little Qo’nos

(Klingon Embassy on Farius Prime – Security Office– Security Chief Shep’rd and Security Officer M’Kai – 2102)

 

Security Chief Shep’rd finished his report on thedisappearance of Mackenzie, daughter of K’Nera. He liked the child. She was arebellious teenager, but her heart was in the right place. And K’Nera was farfrom a good mother. Between that and the restrictions that came with living atthe embassy, he understood her running away. So he buried the report on one ofthe low-priority channels. Travelling slowly, the report would take aboutforty-nine days to reach the Qo’nos. By then, Mackenzie would have arrived ather destination. 

 

Officially, he had no idea where she was going. Butoff-the-record, everybody knew she had been talking to her Romulan sister Tonion New Romulus. And that she was going to join her on that planet. He shut downhis console and headed for the Mess Hall. ~I need a drink.~ As he did so, hewalked past Security Officer M’Kai, son of Rot’Nei. Until a couple of yearsago, M’Kai had been a scientist. But then he had banned from performing anyscience.

 

~Just because I blew up a single solar system.~ Itwas a long story, but he wasn’t in the mood to tell it now. To make hispunishment worse, he had been assigned as a low-ranking security officer tothis blasted Embassy. With that idiot Shep’rd running the security detail. Butthis situation with Mackenzie was providing him with a chance to startreclaiming his life. He had figured out the password to the Security Chief’sconsole months ago. As soon as he was alone, he sat down behind the console andlogged in.

 

He found the report and realized that there wasnothing he could do with it. ~That would generate a notification and alert theChief.~ But then he had an idea. He copied the contents and pasted it into a newfile. However, instead of sending it to Qo’nos, he routed this report to theKlingon Embassy on New Romulus. Once it reached the Embassy, they would surelylaunch an investigation into Mackenzie. This would bring the attention of theInternal Affairs department down upon the Farius Prime Embassy. By the end oftheir investigation, M’Kai would be one of the few experienced personnel leftstanding. 

 

~They’ll have no choice but to promote me. Whoknows, maybe I will replace that fool as Chief ?~ He selected a higher prioritychannel and send the message, then shut down the console. Between the fasterchannel and the fact that the distance between Farius Prime and New Romulus wassmaller, his copy would arrive days before the original. And then he would havehis revenge. He headed for the Mess Hall. It was time to celebrate his smallvictory with a drink.
