Mission: For Honor
Day: 6
Stardate: 2446.04.29

(Qo'nos - Main Hall - Chancellor Morek. CO, Captain Sekal, Lieutenant Galk,
Son of Jos and SecO, CPO Steven Hammons- 0803)

Morek took his seat at the head of the table with a scowl, support for a
two front war with the Federation and Romulan Republic had evaporated like
mist and even more importantly the beginnings of a withdrawal by the
Imperial House and its allies was not only draining fighting ships and
warriors but also logistical support from the Romulan front. Galk appeared
to be content to fortify his holdings in five key sectors that were rich
with minerals and there were rumblings of a coming change in policy there,
what form that would take Morek had no idea. Just as he had feared the
death of Eshag portended doom to his plans.

There had also been a growing call by his supporters in private to
solidify peaceful terms with the Federation in an attempt to win
concessions from the opposition houses for a rejuvenated push toward the
Romulan Republic. Morek glanced toward Galk with a snarl which drew the
other's attention. Galk answered his snarl like for like until something,
perhaps behind Morek caught his attention and his eyes widened.

Chancellor Morek looked away dismissively. Galk's interference had brought
about his troubles and at some point in time he would make him pay. As he
was not looking that way he was completely caught off guard by what
happened next.

Because Galk was not looking past him but at something ON him.

And he was not the only one. The Vulcan CO who had been monitoring events
closely had seen it too. If you were anything less than attentive, close
and keen of eyesight you would have missed it too.

A small, red dot that was traveling up Morek's chest toward his head. And
to make an overt move might force a reaction.

Their thoughts? Both were displeased. While Galk could and would plan
Morek's replacement in the future an assassination attempt by hiding your
intention was diametrically opposed to the Klingon Way and cowardice to
boot.

To the Vulcan it portended chaos and war. He had a starship to call upon
with advanced weaponry and shields but it wasn't on the ground to protect
the Chancellor. It might as well be in the Andromeda Galaxy. If they were
going to do anything about this it would have to be with boots on the
ground.

He turned as though to speak with Riven sitting beside him who was looking
off with a puzzled frown as though sensing something, the Vulcan's movement
hid the motion of his hand which had tapped his combadge. As they could see
the laser pointer whoever was aiming was behind the Federation contingent
and fortunately appeared to be waiting for something as he/she had already
passed up a kill shot.

Sekal's face turned back to the Chancellor as he spoke inaudibly to anyone
more than a few paces away.

"Security breach protocol Alpha 3. Imminent danger to the Chancellor.
Sniper trace spotted. Location at 0500 to 0700." Fortunately Galk, sitting
across from him was also a security officer.

Elsewhere Steven Hammons, also on the security detail and near the
periphery melted backward into the grouping of dignitaries mingling around.
The protocol demanded he show no outward acknowledgement so he refrained
from looking about. The location of stairs, entrances and possible sniper
vantage points had all been emblazoned in his mental map so he was heading
surreptitiously on a circuit that would get him higher and to the indicated
locale. There were three levels to this massive chamber and the sniper
would be as high as possible.

"Mr. Galk if you are listening acknowledge."

Galk was still looking in Morek's direction, the dip of his head was almost
unnoticeable.

"On my mark stand slowly to your feet, hook the bottom of the table with
your hands and heave."

Galk made no outer acknowledgement but slid his hands under the table.
Federation and Klingon were on opposite sides of the heavy table and Galk
and Trei were not far from him.

"Now."

Vulcan and Klingon rose as one and together with the table tipping quickly,
its end farthest from Morek rising into the air. The shouts that
accompanied it drowned out the sound of the shot that vaporized a large
chunk of the far corner which Morek didn't see because he was diving away
to keep from being crushed by the piece of furniture.

"Get the Chancellor under cover!" Sekal's shout ripped through the
cacophony. Steven Hammons and the other members of the security contingent
were closing on the snipers location having seen and heard the discharge.
