Mission: For Honor
Day: 4
Stardate: 2446.04.28
(USS Illuminar - Deck 2 - Crew Quarters -CEO Lieutenant Tegian Pex - 2134)
Tegian was back in the quarters, changing his uniform for the third time
today. He was surprised, and relieved, that the Commander hadn't mentioned
the drying blood stains after his visit from Sickbay. But, now that they
had dried, mostly, they annoyed Tegian, especially along his back. He
still had no idea what he'd done to merit the wounds and playing back the
day, he couldn't remember where he'd had occasion to cut himself. He
wondered if any of the others had ended up with wounds. He'd have to check
in with Sickbay to see if anyone else in Engineering ended up being treated.
Dressed, he checked his messages and didn't find anything urgent. His new
quarters actually afforded him the space for a place to eat, so Tegian
decided to replicate a meal and eat by himself while he reviewed all the
engineering reports, in detail.
He replicated Grakizh. He knew that he could eat this anywhere on the ship
and no one would object, but he didn't always feel comfortable calling out
that he was Trill. And even though the replicated taste wasn't quite the
same as having it fresh, it was still better than the humans' green colored
salads. He found the color off putting, as he was sure they found his
yellow one.
He chewed, slowly, as he read all the collection of reports from the day.
He really was impressed with Ensign T'lan as was considering making her in
charge of the Gamma shift. That's currently where Vermyx currently was,
but Tegian was considering moving him to the Beta shift. He read about
some of the requests and he felt like he needed to keep an eye on the
Iotatian. It would be easier if he was on the Beta shift.
And, judging by how well Ensign Zh'Firre did organizing the teams, she
would do fine. That would leave Tegian free to manage the shift leads,
observe all the shifts as needed and still have time to handle any special
projects. There were still a few things from the Trill list of Starfleet
retrofits that could be tried, but they got progressively harder. The
phasor array modifications, Tegian felt, were doubtful and he wasn't sure
if the suggested computer core changes made the least bit sense. That one
might be a project to be done with Ensign Zowie.
And then there was the far more ambitious project of replacing all the
power conduits in the ship and actually installing Trill plasma injectors.
Then this ship would have more power than they would know what to do with.
But, that effort would mean an overhaul. Probably never to be done.
Tegian shifted back to the present and made the duty shift changes going
forward and informed the new shift chiefs along with a recording from him
congratulating them and thanking them for their exemplary work today. Once
the ship's damage was repaired, he would hold a Engineering Team Lead
meeting with the four of them and discuss long term goals as well as any
current issues he should know about. He'd also figure out how often they'd
meet and discuss other matters like if the shifts should change
periodically as well as letting members move between shifts and regular
training to make sure that all needed skills were learned. He made himself
an agenda so that he didn't forget any of these ideas,, with a note to ask
the others for a list.
He then remembered something that Commander Gregory had said. He hadn't
yet had a conversation with Luma and yet he was one of the individuals that
was now mainly responsible for her "skin" as he had heard she referred to
the ship. That was something that he hadn't really understood and he
didn't think that Bohb had stressed when they had talked about him taking
over this role. But, perhaps Tegian should have reached out to her when
the bomb had gone off. He took a deep breath and spoke into the air.
"Luma, may I speak with you at your convenience? And if there is a
location that I should go to meet with you, please let me know. I want to
talk to you about the repairs we are making on the Illuminar and if there
is something we should do to make it less painful to you."
