Mission: For Honor
Day: 5
Stardate: 2446.04.29

( Qo'nos- Council Chambers – Galk, Son of Jos of the Imperial House and
Chancellor Morek- 0850)

He grounded his father's bloody weapon as he looked from face to face.
Blood dripped unheeded from the fingers of his left hand and he could feel
wetness on one cheek, the injuries were not life threatening.

Some of those he gazed upon showed displeasure with the turn of the fight,
perhaps even disgust. Most however were alight with smiles of enjoyment
over a battle well fought and justice delivered. Shouts of congratulation
echoed around the chamber. Morek he noted showed nothing, the neutral
expression hid his thoughts. Counselor Pe'tah had stepped in to face down
Ahnek to free Trei from his grip then spun on the Chancellor.

“Galk’s challenge was made and answered,” Pe’tah announced. “The results
are our law. Ariel Trei acted as cha’Dich as if she were a Klingon warrior.
Is there still doubt of her Klingon heart, what say you now, Morek?”

“Despite what you believe, the Empire as it stands is not without honor,”
Morek spat.

“That is not my belief. However, what is decided now does make a statement
of our honor.”

Then he turned to Morek again, “The matter of the house of Kor is settled.
All that was Eshag’s is now Galk’s. That is irrefutable by our law. Now,
ask your questions of Ariel Trei.”

"His blessing is unnecessary." Galk rumbled. He stood tall, a posture of
victory gained under trying circumstances, the blood upon his face a
reminder of the savagery of the contest.

"A kill well done." He spoke to his cha'dich. The next words he spoke were
for all as his gaze swept the room.

"The victory is mine as are the holdings of Eshag and with them I restore
to Lieutenant Trei those of the House of Mohg, to do with as she sees fit."

(Reply: Trei)

His eyes challenged any to speak against him then he spoke once again to
all. "With those lands and holdings, buildings and warriors upon Qo'nos
which make up the majority of the Imperial City I restore this day the
Imperial House, the House of Kor. All assets under me within Romulan space
will be frozen in place and some recalled after I have had opportunity to
review the military situation and decide what portion of my forces are
unneeded there."

Morek's eyes smoldered as he kept his expression neutral with difficulty.
He had bought back his honor before all but at what price? While he might
have been considering a way to sway the contest to act on it would have
been unthinkable. As for the new head, Eshag had been content to be coerced
and led, lending his forces to the Chancellor's call, Galk would not and he
knew it, felt it in his bones. This one would walk his own path. He was
already flexing his political muscle like a veteran and without the ships
and warriors he oversaw Morek's plans for expansion and conquest was dealt
a near fatal blow. The leader of the Imperial House was no ruler but his
voice held great weight because of the military forces he controlled.

"If Jos my father lives he willl be returned to Qo'nos on my order."

And with that he contemptuously dismissed Morek's earlier attempt to buy
his silence.

Galk leaned upon the Bat'leth and looked once more to his cha'dich. "In two
days time Ariel Trei will undergo the Rite of Ascension within the Great
Hall of Warriors which belongs to the Imperial House. Prepare yourself
Lieutenant Trei and prepare well, in two days time you will stand among
your peers, a warrior."

(Reply: Trei)

The blood loss was beginning to tell and he was tiring but refused to let
it show. "I go now to set my words into motion." He hefted the Bat'leth and
prepared to push his way through the heads of houses if necessary but it
wasn't, two stepped aside to let him pass. He gave a nod of appreciation to
Councilor Pe'tah as he passed, the two would need to speak at length soon.

(Reply: Pe'tah)

Morek was seething as he watched Galk make his way to the door, Eshag's
headless body was now surrounded by a growing pool of blood, as dead as the
Chancellor's ambitions. He stalked to the table and keyed the comm. "Send
a detail to clean up the chamber. Councilor Eshag is dead and has been
replaced along with another." He grit his teeth. "And send a communication
to Rura Pente, Jos, Son of Kor is to be found and returned to Qo'nos
immediately."

=^= hAj! =^=

Morek signed off and slapped the table hard while hoping that this gesture
might lay a foundation for future cooperation but he didn't invest too much
thought into it. He knew that his task had just become immeasurably harder.
Not impossible certainly and should Galk meet some unfortunate fate his way
would be smoothed. Given time he might even be of assistance to that bleak
end but now was not the time, there was much to do in the near term.

Galk and Trei were well down the hall before he passed the bat'leth to her,
it was becoming heavy and blood droplets were left in their wake as they
walked. "I first need to report to the Captain and seek medical attention.
Thank you for your assistance."

(Reply: Trei, Pe'tah)
