"Debrief you? Why would SFI debrief you?  That would be thejob of Security.  What would you need to be debriefed about?" 

“Well, I’ve been to places like Farius Prime,Ferengi space and the Nyberrite Alliance,” Alex said. 

~And I’ve met people and seen things in thoseplaces.~ Things that Starfleet Intelligence might want to know. 
For example, he had encountered a pirate shipcalled the Black Heart. According to the databases that Alex could access, theship had been destroyed by the Gorn several years ago. But Alex knew where tofind logs that proved the vessel was still active at least six months after itwas supposedly blown up. 

"And why would your information be incorrect. They get that information fromyou.  Unless you intentionally mislead them?"
 “A, I’m not the kind to mislead. And B, the recruiterwho signed me up was way to sharp a cookie for that. So C, I did provide thefull and accurate list. From what I can see, it's a paperwork snafu somewhere down the line, or a computer issue. The recruitment office where I joined should have a back-up. Once I get back to the ship, I'll shoot them a message. But it will probably take a couple of days to fix it."
