Alex had not expected to make it to the exit. ~After all, what you didwas super rude.~ And he was not disappointed. Jackson was clearly furious withhim. He could hear that from the way she slammed the shovel down on theconcrete. ~So, Michelle did what I asked her to do, she delivered my story.~  

“Who in thehell do you think you are?”

“Alex, Starfleet, flyboy.”

“I don’t careabout your rank, job title, or anything of that crap, and you know it. Who in the hell do you think you are to come down here, play games talking tomy horse like it’s me, and the waltz out thinking that’s fine as whatever wineyou’ve clearly been drinking?”

“And there she is, the real Teresa Jackson. The one who wanted to joinStarfleet and didn’t take crap from anybody.” One of his instructors at the Freighterschool, Mister Sinclair, had told him to ignore the propaganda and focus onwhat he saw. ~Get them angry and you will see the real person.~ 

“I was pushing you buttons to remind you that she was still in there. Sowhy are you taking crap from a dead guy ? Sath took your friend from you, yourdreams and your career. He was a fool. So stop suffering him.”

“Oh, and if you want to hate me and curse me to Hades for the rest ofyour life, you go right ahead. I’ve never been the religious type. Andif there are powers above and below, I figure I’m not that popular with themanyway.”

His real message delivered, he continued on this way. As he did so, hebegan humming the song he had been whistling before. It was not a random song,but an old Scottish folk song called For Auld Lang Syne.
