Dinner had been wonderful. Although Penn had not been a huge fan of the oysters, he said they tasted like rubber bands, and nobody wanted to know how he knew that, he did enjoy most of the rest of the food. Teller had, in his usual fashion sampled a little from everything, but Teller took an affinity to the things called ‘Corn Dogs’ and the little girl named Leeza.

The two had returned to their lounge chairs and Penn opened his beach bag. He dug around in there for a moment then looked over at Leeza. He smiled and crooked a finger at her, beckoning her over.

Leeza looked over at Penn and Teller. She then looked around the area before she made her way to the pair. “Whatcha got, Dr. Hen and Dr. Eller?”

“Willy Wonka and his magic factory,” Teller said with a smile. Taking a large pointed stick, he placed a white fluffy object on the end. Standing up he walked to the fire and slowly turned the fluffy object in the flames. “Hamilton Porter to Scotty Smalls on the sandlot.”

As he talked, the object started to turn a light brown, The Tamarian inspected the object and smiled, “Archimedes and the bath tub. Moving back to his chair, he placed the browned pillow on a biscuit, followed by a piece of chocolate followed by another biscuit. Smooshing them together, the warmth of the pillow started to melt the chocolate. Breaking it half, he offered the gooy melted chocolaty concoction to Leeza, while he put the other half in his mouth. “Buddy, the elf, on the food groups,” he said with a smile.

Leeza took the weird sandwich and ate it. The melted chocolate went more on her than in her. She laughed, “You talk funny. But that is cool.” showing her hands, she indicated that she was all done. “More, please”

Teller laughed and pulled out a seat, by the table while preparing the station for another s’more. “Jess to Bobby, the messengers,” he said as he loaded the stick again. Back to the fire he started rotating the pillow over the flames as he started to hum a show tune,

Penn pulled his own stick out of the bag and attached a marshmallow to it. Then he rotated the mallow over the fire. He turned to Teller with a childish smile and said, Hamilton Porter to Scott Smalls in the clubhouse. The beast of the neighborhood.”

He turned to Leeza and saw her chocolate rimmed lips. “They are called s’mores. Would you like s’more?” He laughed heartily at his own joke.

Michael had been watching the scene unfold with fascination. He had made s’mores at a campfire since he was a kid. He moved over to the group, “You guys have another stick?”

Teller moved back to the table, assembling another s’more and breaking it to share with Leeza. He handed his stick to Michael and sat down, pouring himself another drink. “Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra. Sokath, his eyes opened,” he said as he watched the fire.

Michael accepted Teller’s stick, put a marshmallow on it and began to toast it. He put together the shell of graham cracker and chocolate while he waited. Once it was golden brown he laid it on its chocolate bed, put the top on and squished it all together.

Pleased with his accomplishment he went over to Quinna and offered the morsel to her. “For the mistress of the house.”

“Thank you.” Quinna took the offered treat. She scooched over in the chair for Michael to join her. She was starting to not feel so great. She took a bite of the S’more. Then she closed her eyes.

Michael was starting to recognize the look. He put his arm around Quinna and let her put her head on his shoulder.

Meanwhile Penn was attempting to explain the physics of how a s’more comes to exist to Leeza.

“You see child, there are, in common physics, two kinds of heat transfer, conduction and convection. Conduction is where the heat is directly applied to something. Convection is when heat rises to meet and object to heat it. But in quantum physics there is the reality that convection heat is still conduction because the hot air touches the marshmallow directly. Convection is almost an illusion.”

As he said the word illusion he magically pulled a marshmallow from behind Leeza’s ear.

Teller laughed at Penn’s trick, “Temba, his arms wide,” he said smiling at Leeza.

“OHHHH, Magic. I get it. But what is it called when more is needed to go into my belly?” Leeza asked.

Penn turned to Teller laughing, “Oliver Twist, in the workhouse, with the gruel.”

Then he turned back to Leeza and said, “We call that, extra helpings. You have a hearty appetite my sweet,” Penn said. “I like that.” He got another marshmallow and began to toast it.
