"If you don't mind me asking, why would this Rabbi leave you such apriceless item?"

“Well, he never actually said it,” Alex scratched his beard. “But I gotthe impression that his family didn’t see it as a working instrument. Theywanted it as a trophy, a status symbol,” He shrugged. “I just see a violin thatsounds terrific and needs to be played.”

“What did you do before you put on the uniform ?”

“I was a civilian pilot until a couple weeks back. I flew shuttles,freighters and even a couple of alien ships,” He put the violin down. “I haven’tgotten around to it, but I need to bug HR about my official list of assignments.Because it is far from complete. Just in case you look at my file later.”
