T’Mur was curious to hear Trei’s perspective on Betazois weddings.  She was half Betazoid and grew up on Betazed, but clearly had embraced her Klingon heritage more than her Betazoid heritage.


"Well one of the traditional customs of a Betazoid Wedding is that all who attend to be naked’” she began.  “The bride can choose to observe the groom's traditions if he is human.  The custom states that a gift box be sent to the female or bride before the wedding.  The concept of being naked for the ceremony is to honor love in all its forms.  The reception after is traditionally clothed so don't worry about that."


“Indeed, Ariel,” T’Mur replied, “on Betazed there are no secrets, emotionally or mentally.  The act of being disrobed is the last act of trust between the intended and their commitment to each other in front of those in attendance.  It does not, as many might assume, have sexual connotations.  In fact, having the attendees naked as well might indicate their commitment to each other, and to forsake all others.”


T’Mur sat back as her food was delivered, then continued, “Vulcans tend to be a bit more reserved in their modesty.  We will not require those in attendance to be naked, though I am uncertain why anyone would have such a discomfort considering those who will be there.  However, we would respect the beliefs of all.”


She took a forkfull of the salad into her mouth and began to chew.  When she swallowed she looked at Trei.  “I am curious, Ariel.  When you find a mate would you follow the traditions of the Betazoid or those of the Klingons?  Or if you merge them how would you see that looks?”
