(USS Illuminar - Deck 5 - Sick Bay - 2/O&COps CMDR Dieter Gregory -1255)

Gregory listened to the young Ensign.  Asking good questions. Pointed 
questions. A good sign, noting the position Gregory was putting him in.

"You ask good questions, Ensign.  A lot to process, I know, but I am 
trying to gather facts as quick as I can to help us formulate a 
strategy.  So let's take these in some random order," he said.

"What is your mothers name?  I would like to pass it along to our 
Ambassador, Dr. Riven Mias.  Perhaps they can start some backchannel 
discussions, I am trying to understand the attitude and philosophy of 
the joining and the symbionts.  Our fine doctors are doing their due 
diligence as well, but if we could get more information from Trill, that 
would help. I"m not sure they would let it out to outsiders, and don't 
want to put you in an awkward position."

Gregory paused, "Well more awkward than already, at least."

"You are correct, all senior staff know, so feel free to approach them 
for advice or guidance as well."

"My bottom line is that Pel made a difficult choice to use his daughter 
for a biological receptable for the symbiont.  'Her daddy's little 
secret', is what she called him.  Pel can exert some influence, but is 
not integrated as you are. But we have not tried to have that 
conversation with him yet.  We didn't have the resources or time on the 
Rhyne to consider it, so we monitored her and saw no negative effects of 
the pseudo-joining."

"The Ambassador is preparing communications with Trill, so I would ask 
that you interface anything with him please.  I know it is a difficult 
situation you are being asked to consider, and no clear answer other 
than your ethic."
