ILLUMINARRPG: (1 - 0945) ACONN Alexander Dyson

(USS Illuminar – Simulator Room – ACONN Ensign Alexander Dyson – 0945)

Alex was in the simulator, flying a Mako against two Scorpion-class attack flyers. He had just scored a kill when the Lieutenant Grey Wolf’s voice came over the intercom.

=^=Red alert, red alert. Bogies inbound from Mars. Ensign Dyson you will take fighter one, Montero to Fighter 2. All fighters scramble to intercept. You have 2 minutes gentlemen to engage the enemy. Any who are late will be listed as casualties.  Greywolf out.=^=

~Time to get work.~ He slammed the emergency shutdown button, ending the simulation, as he hopped out of the simulator. He had memorized the route to the shuttlebay, so getting there was not the problem. Getting there in time was the problem. Alex reached the bay and jumped into the right fighter. ~Let’s rock and roll, baby.~

He ran the pre-flight checklist and noticed that the neural interface was locked in off-line condition, but the fighter’s AI was waiting for him to login. ~Nope.~ He pressed the off button and the AI display went dark. ~I prefer to do this without anyway.~ Alex launched the fighter and listened to the chatter between Montero and Corday.

=^=Okay gentlemen, let's can the chatter, and stay focused. Bravo squad isn't going to hand us the win.  Pretty sure they're not saying 'Oooh the Illuminar, let's just give up now.'  This is their top squad.  Stay in formation, and watch your wingman.  Knight two, this is not a game of tag.  Their shots will pack a wallop, and they will lower your shielding.  Do not, I repeat, do not play with that neural interface.  It was turned off on your ship on purpose.=^=

“Yes, sir.” He said, choosing not to mention that he had turned the AI off as well.

~Think like a Viper pilot.~ He thought. ~And float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.~ As he thought that, Bravo Squadron broke up into three pairs. They wanted to control the merger and force the knights to split up. It was a smart tactic, but Alex had no intention of going down without a fight. Corday’s voice came over the radio.

Alex looked at the scanner and came up with a plan in his head.
