Mission:  An End and a Beginning

Day: 2

Stardate: 2446.03.17

(USS Illuminar - Simulators - Pilot Ensign (sg) Vic ‘Raid Montero - 0830)

“Damn, they look like bow ties,” Montero said as he looked at the
opposing craft.

=^= They have weapons charged,=^= Gunsmoke called out.  =^=Minimal
shields though.=^=

“Forward phasers are charged, torpedo tubes loaded,” Gregory replied.

The two void sphynx fighters closed distance with the opposing force.
Montero selected phasers and targeted the left bandit.  “I have left,
you take right,” he called.

=^= Copy =^= came the reply.

As Montero changed course slightly, trying to get a lock on his bogey,
the damned thing turned on a time, and was now heading right at him.
“What the f…” he said as he had to jerk his craft and moved it into a
wingover maneuver.

As he completed the wingover, ended behind his bandit.  Pushing the
trigger, tle blasts from his phaser cannon pierced the sky.  His bandit
juked and the Montero only saw the flash of light of his shot hitting a
shield. “Damn,” he said “Mandy, any help would be appreciated.”

[I am sorry, there is insufficient data to formulate a successful attack
strategy.]

“Hold that thought,” Montero said as he moved his fighter into a flat
scissors move with his bandit.  As the two fighters changed roles
Montero cut his power back, and let the bandit overshoot him.

“Got ya,” he said softly as he start firing again.  The pulses shot
forward from the fighter, but the damned thing spiraled with the shots
passing between the wing and body of the ship.

He overshot the enemy, so he picked up speed.

“Mandy?”

[Analysis indicates they are 20% more maneuverable than us.]

Montero turned the fighter into a skid and flipped the fighter on its
axis.  Like two knights of old jousting, the two fighters rushing at
each other.  “Mandy, target photon torpedoes.”

[Torpedo’s targeted]

Montero pulled his fighter into a climb, and as he did, he released two
photon torpedoes.  Mandy’s calculations were spot on and as he climbed
for altitude, the bandit slammed into the torpedoes, blowing up with a
spectacular fireball.

As he reached the peak of his climb, he scanned the sky, and saw
Gunsmoke having her own problems.

“Knight two, turn to heading 324 mark 46. “

=^= Copy Knight one =^=

As Gunsmoke changed her course, the bandit followed, sticking onto her
like glue.  She kept juking as she kept avoiding the bandits fire.

“Ready Mandy,” Montero said as he started into a dive, gaining speed and
position.  “Knight two, on my mark, dive,” he called.

=^=Copy=^=

Montero moved into position, “Dive,” he called.

As Gunsmoked dove to the ground, the bandit overshot and right into
Montero’s gunsights.  Firing his phaser cannons, he was rewarded with
the bandit exploding.

“Knight one to knight actual, splash two.”

=^= Shake a leg, we have two inbound  218 mark 185 =^=

“On it.  Gunsmoke form up and hit the burners.”
