(USS Illuminar - Deck 1 - CO's Ready Room - Counselor Ensign jg Reea - 0629)

"A logical suggestion and one that has already been acted upon," said Sekal.

Of course the command staff already asked Luma to help, thought Reea. She should have realized that.

The captain expanded on Luma, mentioning that she has unresolved issues. He implied Reea should speak with her.

Reea didn't know what to say. She hadn't formally met Luma or interacted with her. Reea had read the information on file about her, but that was all Reea knew. She had no idea how to counsel a being that was part of the ship. She also couldn't say no to the captain.

"I can speak with Luma, sir."

"There is one other thing while you are available." Sekal reached into his desk drawer and removed a small, black box. Inside was a gold rank pip.

"Please step forward, Counselor."

Reea stood up and moved to where Captain Sekal could reach her. She was excited to receive a promotion, but she felt she hadn't done enough to warrant one.

"Congratulations. You are now a full ensign."

"Thank you, sir. I truly appreciate this." Reea smiled.

After the formalities, both sat again. Captain Sekal asked how things were going with the psych evaluations. Reea went from being joyful, to feeling like she was a balloon being deflated.

"I reached out to several members of the senior staff, but they haven't replied. I felt everyone has been so busy, I didn't press the matter."

The captain finished by assuring Reea that he was going to do his best to keep Quinna safe. She knew he would, but she hoped that would be enough.

"There is one more thing. The Hewmons have a saying. There's no time like the present. Since I'm here, and with all that's happened, with you almost dying, how are you doing? How is Captain Sekal?"
