(Vulcan - ShiKahr- Nivar Institute - CO- Captain Sekal and Dr.Felicity
Tate- 1442)
The group had entered the Institute and advanced on the receptionist. It
took only a moment before they were ushered to the office of Dr. Felicity
Tate, Co- Director of the medical division. The office was unpretentious
and not far from the main area. There was no secretary outside her door and
only a small name plate adorning it. The Vulcan healer announced himself,
received a reply and directed them inside.
"Come in, come in." The woman standing within was willowy and of
intermediate height. Her hair was still a glossy black and long though grey
was apparent in small streaks. She appeared a bit confused to see such a
large group. "I'm sorry, I thought I was expecting one patient today."
"Doctor I tender my apologies however there is a reason for the number of
individuals." Sekal spoke up. "I am Captain Sekal and this is Ensign T'Mur,
the patient you were expecting. With her is Doctor Solice who I believe you
spoke with on my ship."
"Ah yes." Felicity stepped forward and offered her hand. "Doctor Solice it
is a pleasure to meet you in person and thank you for bringing the matter
to my attention."
(Reply: Quinna, room for more)
She then turned to T'Mur. "Ms. T'Mur I have a long day planned for you and
we will get to the details momentarily. We have a lot to talk about later
concerning the care you received or the lack thereof and I have a lot of
questions. I hope that is acceptable to you."
(Reply: T'Mur)
"Oh no, don't be concerned. That will come after the treatment is concluded
and you are feeling better." She left it at that for now and turned back to
the captain. "Now you were explaining why you brought a half dozen people
to my office."
Sekal quirked an eyebrow and continued the introductions. "This is the head
of my science department, Lieutenant Jaton Alyl, he expressed an interest
in seeing the facilities and Commander Sienna Verin is my First Officer,
she also has a scientific background like myself and is interested in the
facilities. And also my chief of security Lieutenant Lee, his purpose here
is as my..." he inclined his head a bit, "... baby sitter I believe applies
in this instance."
Felicity stifled a laugh at the deadpan delivery, she had been around
Vulcans for 15 years now and what the inhabitants of this planet considered
to be mundane information could be extremely humorous when considered in
context. This Vulcan however seemed a bit ... off to her and she did a
double-take. Those that went to space sometimes came back a bit different.
She looked closely, he was very young technically speaking for the species
but carried an air, a gravitas if you will that belied experience beyond
his years. She shook her head and addressed the others. "Lieutenant Alyl,
Commander Verin I am certain a tour can be arranged for you of the
facilities and for the Institute at large."
(Reply: Sienna, Jaton, Lee as much as you want.)
She turned back to Sekal. "And for yourself as well Captain."
"Unnecessary." he replied. "I am intimately familiar with the Institute
having graduated from it."
"What degree?" She asked.
"Doctorates in Interstellar Mechanics and High Energy Particle Physics with
a masters in Exo-Biology."
Her eyes got big at the recitation of his accolades and she looked
closer, he was far too young to be able to boast of such. "If you got a
masters in exo-biology I would have seen you."
"Indeed you have doctor, I remember you vividly."
She stepped back and looked him up and down. "Wait, it's the hair isn't
it? You've changed the cut."
"Indeed. This style was recommended by a compatriot."
The picture bloomed in her mind of a student of four years ago, a prodigy
he had been called who seemed to have an instinctive grasp of every subject
and she stepped back with a gasp. "Sekal! Your father was StarFleet at one
time as I recall."
He cocked his head. "And has returned."
She shook the cobwebs free from her brain and turned back to T'Mur. "let's
get you down to the exam room before I get knocked completely a kilter by
another former student shall we?"
(Reply: T'Mur)
"I'm afraid the rest of you will have to remain outside the room while we
check her neural system. I will send for someone to escort you around the
facilities." She glanced back at Sekal. "I'm sure your Captain could be a
grand job of it but that wouldn't be proper."
(Reply: Any, all)
