(Vulcan - ShiKahr- Transportation Hub – Bohb- 1432)

It had been a long time since Bohb had seen such a large group of Federation officers, especially a captain, on Vulcan, since he had procured his position as a maintenance engineer in the Transportation Hub. There had been other landing parties, and they were either two or three officers, or a large party of lower deck officers who were usually on shore leave. But this group was different. And they were very serious. Something was up, and it caught Bohb’s curiosity.

Now a Magillan was not an easy creature to hide, even in a large hub like the Vulcan Transportation Hub such as this. Magillans were large primates, that resemble Earth chimpanzees, only larger. In fact, Bohb was a full head taller than the tallest Vulcan. The other distinguishing factor was the cleanliness of his maintenance uniform. The other engineers often made comment of wither he actually did any work since his clothes were always so well kept, even in the dustiest days on Vulcan. But he knew that it was all in jest, as he did twice as much work as an of the other engineers. In fact, there was actually no work for him to do at that moment.

He was rarely in the Hub during typical traveling hours just so he could avoid seeing others and getting involved in their lives. His last days in Starfleet had soured him from wanting any contact with fleet officers, but there was something about this group that caught his attention. Perhaps it was because two of the members of the group were Vulcans, another rarity these days. The captain reminded Bohb of somebody. A Vulcan commanding officer that he had known, but that was a lifetime ago.

After the fall of the Federation Bohb had made the choice to leave Starfleet. He could no longer believe in an organization that was able to hold itself together. Some of the politics were well beyond his ability to comprehend. In Magillan culture, disagreements of that sort were solved swiftly, and often silently. The endless chapter and discussion had been driving him insane, se he opted to resign his commission and move off on his own.

At first he had considered going back to Magilla III, but soon knew that was a mistake. He had been in “civilized culture” too long. There was no way he would be accepted back into his pod. He took on a series of jobs on cargo and transport sips. The jobs were fulfilling but never really lasted long, until he landed on Vulcan. At least the Vulcan people saw the logic of simply leaving hm the hell alone. And so it was that he was able to exist for the last fifteen years.

But now, he could not put a finger on it, seeing these people, brought something to his mind. An itch he couldn’t scratch. H had need to know why they were here. He wanted to … help them. And it had been a long time since he wanted to help anyone. And he knew that it had something to do with that damned captain. What was it that was so familiar. He followed them out of the hub and watched them get on a transport shuttle.

As the shuttle pulled away into traffic Bohb went over to the transport chief. A small Vulcan male named Stiv.

“Where did they go?” Bob asked.

“What concern is that of yours?” Stiv asked.

“Concern is to strong a word Stiv,” Bohb replied. “I am simply… curious.”

“Indeed,” Stiv said with a raised eyebrow. “Curious indeed. To end your curiosity, the were going to the Vulcan Insti… the Nivar Institute. And before you ask the next logical question, I have no idea as to their purpose.”

Bohb humphed then turned back to look down the path of the transport. Before he could do anything further a Telaxian came running up to him.

“Look lively Bohb,” he said, “we’ve a job to do. Well, you’ve got a job to do. Time to get your clothes dirty.”

Bohb looked down at the Telaxian and sighed at his “joke”. Then he turned and went back inside the hub.
