Mission: Space was cool before it mattered

Day: 1

Stardate: 2446.04.25

(USS Exeter - Medical Sciences Lab - SF MedObs Cmdr Ailynn Bracken - 1407)

"I am very glad you are here, though I'm more troubled with the recent
development with the away team and the miners." Dural said concern showing
on his face.

Ailynn’s brain changed gear in an instant. In her time working with him
Dural had time and time again shown himself to be a pillar of good sense,
seeing things that most missed, herself included. At the time she’d grown
to rely on his uncommonly good sense. Since then, her career had moved
onwards, but at the back of her mind his gentle, though forthright manner
reminded her of a couple of things that had been on her mind. “I’d read the
reports of this. Live subjects, exposed to the radiation, should have known
that you’d be all over this my friend.”

"I had no doubts you were as well." Dural agreed. "Promise me you won't
approach any of the away teams or minors until they've been cleared by
myself or Dr. Kruze."

“Exsqueeze me?” She managed, “You want me to not do what with the who now?”
If all of Ailynn’s faults could be distilled down to just one thing, it
would be the fact that she had no real idea that she shouldn’t be doing
something, not because it was bad, or illegal, but rather because she was
the sort of person who strode into an issue to fix it without really having
gold pressed latinum idea of how to go about things. She’d made a career
out of ‘winging it.’

"Just being cautious of teratogenic effects the various types of radiation
could have." Dural frowned, "I won't let anything happen to the life you're
carrying."

“Lives…” She corrected absently, “but yes I take your point…she sighed.
“You’re correct, of course.”

(Reply Dural)

Ailynn tightened her eyes, deep in thought for a moment, “These miners…they
would have had a full biosweep check before this posting yes?”

(Reply Dural)

“Get hold of it, and cross reference anything you can…” she stopped closing
her eyes, and holding up a hand in apology. “…I’m telling you to do your
job. My apologies.” She smiled gently in apology.

(Reply Dural)
