Mission: Space was cool before it mattered

Day: 1

Stardate: 2446.04.25

(USS Exeter - Medical Sciences Lab - SF MedObs Cmdr Ailynn Bracken - 1404)

"Is there anything I can help with?" Dural asked pleasantly. Ailynn had
heard his footsteps approach, and turned, a deep, fond smile on her face.
She held a great deal of affection from the gentle Cardassian medic. His
sheer professionalism and calm air, was of great comfort to her, as it had
been during some far more difficult times.

“Thank you Ensign. Dismissed. Please don’t let me hold you up.” Ailynn
spoke gently.

“Ma’am.” De Luca replied simply, then left to run her next suite of tests.

"Commander? I had heard you were here, glad to see you, truly."

“Guilty as charged my friend.” She dipped her head in a courteous, but
friendly bow.

Dural glanced down with his courteous bow, and noticed a bump."Oh, my!"
That explains the glow I sensed. Ma'am you are with child!"

“Glancing down, she blushed. “I’m glowing? That’s really sweet, thank you.”
She smiled. “Near six months.” She said simply. “The Bajoran in me speeds
things up a bit. How are you my friend?” Ailynn’s eyes twinkled with
happiness, surrounded by friends, family, and a puzzle desperate to be
cracked, she truly was in her element.

Ailynn rolled her eyes. “I’m here in my mother’s stead, doesn’t look good
for an Admiral to run round chasing ancient rumours, much more fun for her
to send her heavily pregnant daughter…” She smirked playfully, in truth she
didn’t mind, just the opposite, but it was always fun to publicly tease her
mother to other medics.
