(USS Exeter – Sickbay – Nurse - CPO – Ewan McDonald - 0904)

 

Ewan glanced at the wall chronometer and sighed mentally.

 

~I think it’s going backwards~

 

He was board, there not really been anything exiting happening sincethey had arrived and even the trip out had not been over stressful from amedical point of view. 

 

He new that lack of patient was a good thing as it meant that peoplewere not getting hurt but still. 

 

~You may get lucky as board people do stupid things and then get hurt~

 

He gave a slight smile which he covered with a professional demeanour asthe sickbay doors opened. 

 

~Ow could this be something~

 

He hid the inward disappointment as a woman walked into sickbay. It tookhim a moment to realise that the person was Bracken.

 

~What’s Commander AilynnBracken doing back on board~

 

He gave a quick medical appraisal which wasalmost an automatic reaction when he saw people entering sickbay. 

 

~Well she looks like she is getting there. I hopeshe doesn’t pop while she’s onboard~

 

He paused for a moment.

 

~It would make things interesting an crash section.Not had many of those since I got here~

 

His eyes wandered around sickbay with its modernand pristine equipment.

 

~Would have liked to have this type of facilitywhen I did my last one~

 

His mind wandered to a time and place in hispast, with the screaming, hands deep in woman’s abdomen, the flickering lightsas the power began to fail and the terrified face of the surgeon across fromhim. 

 

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath as he calmed his unwanted thought.

 

~Yes here would be far more better~
